I live on the ground. My current home is a stilt house in Belliseria. Therefore the surrounding landscape is not an eyesore, that would push me to reside in the sky (which I have done in the past on some parts of mainland).

I think it's more about the 'adult' Lolita groups that comes to mind for a lot of people. Lolita Dreams has been around for years with their questionably 18+ avatars. At least for the West, Lolita has a less than wholesome association.
While I don't think the OP means it in any adult way, it is seen that way by many.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolicon
The phrase "Lolita complex", derived from the novel Lolita, entered use in Japan in the 1970s, when sexual imagery of the shōjo (idealized young girl) was expanding in the country's media.
I'm aware of what many people in the west think, when they hear the name. Its understandable, to some degree. My response to belinda stems from my feeling that she is "misunderstanding" on purpose. Ignoring, that completely different things with similar names can exist without being the same thing. Insisting on ones position, even after the attempt of clearing up said misunderstanding is behond ignorant and silly. Its bordering on wanting to be offended and offend.

Ah, the dangers of a modest, frilly, feminine fashion! OMG! 🤣

We have a few incidentals that aren't called taxes but are in fact are functional are taxes that make up for it. So we're not really that much better off tax wise as some other countries with flat VAT taxes. My insurance premiums, deductible, and copay taken together (if i have a moderate amount of medical/dental/optical) events can come to around to be a10 to 15% or more "tax" on my income for example and a bad illness could still bankrupt me (and heaven forbid I need an ambulance). (not really relevant to the sales tax talk but a point of perspective).
Our health insurances feel like taxes aswell. They get deducted from the salary along with all real income related taxes before its paid out to the bank account. Of course, the given security is greater, than in the US (I can't be bankrupted directly) and the cost is lower in most circumstances.

You'll be fine. All of your sales taxes sound like absolut heaven on earth. So low...

I am curious to know if anyone thinks LL will start banning Russian IPs since they log in from the country that is invading Ukraine?
Hows that any of LLs business? They ban people based on ToS violations and logging in from an IP located in a country that engages in warfare is not a point covered under the ToS.

That would be news to me. I would be -very- suprised if any country is that incompetent and weird, that they would do anything in SL at all. Its really not like SL is super attractive or needed for that kind of stuff.

Other than that, I learned that I do not mesh well with most of my fellow Germans
And I love being the exception! 🥰
But yes... I do understand what you mean, although I could never pin point why.

It’s also a method of polling to ask people about others around them. It’s like asking, “Do you drive over the speed limit in you neighborhood?” Most people will say no but if you ask, “Do other people drive over the speed limit in your neighborhood?” People will say yes.
But there is a difference between "Do other people drive over the speed limit in your neighborhood?" and "What do you think about people who drive over the speed limit in your neighborhood?" I think thats what people had issues with.
For me it was mainly odd how you threw all those very different groups into the same box and how having virtual sex was placed as not just normal but as such a centerpiece that does who don't do it would benefit from being in a different virtual world, where its not present, instead.
I also think that viewing virtual sex as "the norm" leaves out the perspective that actually the majority of people outside second life and other, similar "bubbles/communities" might find the whole concept quite abnormal or strange.

If asking if I had sex recently would fall under "caring for others", I would hope that nobody cares about me.

Its been years ago, but till this day, I cringe when I think about it.
I always have voice turned off, but just like in Nicks story one day that feature turned itself on. I was in a (at that time) popular store for womens fashion. They had daily discounts on items, so you always had a couple of people hanging out. So I had an audiance to witness me "arguing" with my mom over lunch being ready (I was still living at home then and you know, mom cooks and you know, if you don't appear at the table in a split second for whatever reason, the next call gets shouted a bit louder and I replied equally annoyed). They all laughed at me.
I didn't log in for two days after that and was paranoid for a while.

Sometimes a lot of forgetting I'm logged in to be honest.
Before that happened today I went shopping and changed my outfit. Some day this may lead to finishing furnishing my current home.

Another RL shopping peeve, that I didn't even know would be possible: Printing the shipping label way too early.
So I ordered this big bag for traveling (it got rainbow dragons on it!) and recieved a shipping notification on the 26th. Their website estimates arrival time based on that, because the system thinks that this means shipping has actually started. But till today the tracking number still shows as just being registered. So now I have no clue when to expect my bag and have to check the tracking every day to see if shipping has *actually* started.

Oh no .. the lag .. lets see who we can blame .. CONTENT CREATORS ! Ha ! That will show them.
I'm not blameing anyone (Also just to be clear, because it pet peeves me right now: "Content creator" is not some elusive, secluded group. At one point we all could create). I'm pointing out that the nature of SL to let its content be entirely user created is a reason when it comes to lag. LL doesn't step in and doesn't view itself as a content provider. Thats why the SL standard body is what it is and why we are at the same time allowed to have all those systems. They are messy because they are unregulated, free growing user content. And since nothing comes from LL, nothing can be preloaded so it gets laggy, when you arive in a place full of stuff.
Second Life is like a wild garden, that has been left to its own devices for almost two decades. At some point garden owner LL threw in some fertilizer and made sure their is enough soil and sometimes he would throw in some seeds to see what would grow out of them. Now its a jungle and it gets really difficult to reach anything within that garden. The garden owner could cut down some vegetation, but notices there are rare wildflowers growing among the weeds and some endangered species have found a habitat in the garden. And so he trades the comfort for the beauty of whats already there.

You want to get rid of lag?
- Move the entire Second Life into the bin and make it from scratch.
- Never allow anyone ever to freely create something outside of putting premade assets together.

Be nice if there were more German surnames though. Brotkasten is one of my favourite words.
I like the german names of some of the charlet regions in Belli. How did the humble Brotkasten make it into the ranks of your favorite words?

I have a feeling that you're on European time, so this might not work . . . but The Mercury Room does wonderful vintage jazz on Sunday nights, starting around 7pm or 8pm SLT. Lovely people, LOTS of open chatter (mostly interesting and intelligent), no gesture spam, no begging for tips. Just really calm and relaxing and friendly, with great music and a 30s ambience. And @Solar Legion, anthropomorphic avatars are entirely welcome. (There are animated penguins skating around on the dance floor, as well a large stuffed moose and a bear. Oh, and Bernie Sanders.)
Or, for more modern music in a variety of genres, try The Velvet. Again, lots of chatter, really friendly people, no begging for tips or gesture spam. They have stuff going on most late afternoons / evenings SL time.
Yes, sadly I am on european timezone. I'm going to miss out on everything happening past 2pm SLT more or less.

Thought they learned their lesson with that weird dragonlady. But granted, she had to wish for others to die first, so maybe that's where the line gets drawn around here...
If Dragonlady is the threshold, we are in for a long ride. She was extreme even before that death wish.

Any (Active) Lolita Fashion Communities in SL? (+ Interest Check)

I could only contribute with some RL pieces (I own around three dresses) as my SL wardrobe focuses on a very different style. 😄
