People can believe what they want, if you feel it's laughable that's okay too. I still don't understand how this would affect how you choose to go about your SL.

I'm not superstitius and I never seem to realize it's a Friday the 13th until it's over or is half way through (like just now, seeing this thread), so I'm not doing anything differently because of the date.
I'm having a pretty good day, and am going to go buy a new phone in a few minutes which is always fun! Hmm... maybe I should wait on that until tomorrow..... oh that's right, I'm not superstitious.

I understand your point, I really do. Yes! This exactly! When I began looking at the entries I hadn't read the info about it yet, and didn't realize it was still going on, I figured it was over as I was seeing the votes cast already.

What I don't understand is why I see so many people roleplaying kids who can't pronounce their "r"s. Where does this come from? Is that a standard or something? I'm sincerely curious.
eta: I don't mean to be critical of speech impediments - I had a serious lisp when I was a kid so there's no lack of understanding what that's like. But I was the only one in my kindergarten class that had a problem with speech. Good times.

Awesome! You might check to see if they can do a backlit keyboard, mine doesn't have one and I do wish I'd asked them if they'd do that. If either of you do go with xotic pc I'd love to hear how it turns out for you! (I'm not an employee or anything, I just get excited about this stuff

ooh I wanted to add, it was totally worth it to have a system built, I think it was 12 days from the time I ordered it to the time the blessed event occurred and it was deposited into my arms.
They kept me appraised of every step along the way which was pretty cool too. -
I just woke up and am kinda bleary eyed so I haven't read every word here. Ceka it looks like you're wanting a desktop, but i wanted to mention to anyone considering having a laptop built you might want to check out xotic pc.
I got my Sager laptop from them a couple of months ago and it was the most amazing experience, their customer service has been over the top. I was really impressed with the reviews I found about them and so far they've lived up to everything I'd read.
Before I ordered it I called to ask some questions and got my own 'guy', who gave me his personal extension so that if I had more questions I'd go right to him. I did call back a couple of days later, and it went to voicemail, he called me within five miinutes and apologized for having been on another line. OMG!
I have lifetime 24/7 tech support, I used it once after i first got my machine and "Donald" answered within three rings, after he helped me with my question, we chatted for a bit and he gave me a whole lot of other tips, in other words he wasn't in a hurry, it felt like I was talking to a tech savvy neighbor.
I love my laptop!!! (actually it's considered a desktop replacement, 17.3" monitor and I'll be hooking up a larger monitor to it at some point) In sl I often get over 80 FPS with my settings on ultra. The only surprises I've had with this machine have been good ones.

I am having this problem and have been for awhile. I do get most IMs via email but not all, and definitely not near the number of group notices that I should be getting. In fact now that I think about it, over the last couple of weeks the number of notices I recieve via email from some groups has dropped to almost zero.
My partner doesn't have the problem and since we belong to some of the same groups he can forward information to me that he knows I consider important which is helpful but isn't a solution.
Thanks for the link to the JIRA, I've voted and am watching.
As far as the related prblem of offline IMs not being delivered upon log in, my friend was having this issue and fortunately for him blocking an object/person seems to have resolved it.

I saw no guilt trip being placed on anyone here. Of course your time is precious. If you don't want to shop inworld, then don't, no need to be defensive about it.
I love shopping inworld. The selection at inworld stores is usually greater than what is offered on the marketplace and often times I find freebies in the stores as well. Some of my favorite destinations and music venues were discoveries made while shopping inworld.
I want creators to be happy, I have a deep appreciation for what they do and I want to do all I can to encourage them to keep creating - without them there would be no content in SL.

I'm using Firestorm and haven't been able to find "mute" anywhere, is blocking the same as muting?
ETA: When the product update notecard is sent, I'm given the option to keep, discard, or block. I click "block", then I copy and paste the merchants name in search to find their profile, I check the profile to be sure I've got the person that owns the store, then I block them there, but I continue to get these things sent to me even though I do see their name on my block list.
Maybe I do need to AR them. I just wanted to be sure I'm not misunderstanding the block function before I do that.

I really don't understand people's reasoning, how they can believe this kind of intrusion will help their sales. It's one thing if I subscribe to something - I've done that before and regretted it, but at least it was by my own action and I was able to undo it by going back and unsubscribing.
Shouldn't blocking the object and or the person prevent these things from coming to me? It seems that this has worked for other people, so I'm wondering why I continue to recieve them.

Agreed! What's unfortunate is that despite the fact that some of these merchants have items I really like, I never got to be a loyal customer because I will never purchase from them again.
I'm also sure to share with my friends to stay away unless they want to have to deal with more spam. It's not surprising the names of certain merchants that are being mentioned with more regularity when the topic of merchant spam arises. Word spreads quickly.

There are some merchants whom I've purchased an item from on the MP never having set foot in their stores inworld, yet I've been added to their list to send out new product announcements etc. and it's been irrirating me to no end. I started contacting them, asking to be removed from their lists, and most have been nice about it and have complied.
I've been pleasant enough with my requests but there are a couple who haven't responded to either IM's or a notecard, so I've tried blocking the merchant and then the object when they come in - but I still continue to get them! arrrggghhh!
What am I missing here?

Jiggly can definitely be a problem. I liked the Tonya presets too, it seemed the most natural. Apparently it doesn't look natural to everyone.
I finally stopped wearing it because what I saw and what my partner saw were extremely different things. My partner saw the Tonya preset jigges on me looking so extreme that he wondered why I didn't have a black eye. What I saw was subtle and natural. When we'd be out dancing he'd point out women that were wearing physics, and I could see no movement whatsoever. When I finally got the settings to the point where my partner loved them, I could see nothing at all. I got bored with the whole thing at that point and decided to scrap it.
My partner has seen bounce that looked so horrible he's been tempted to IM them, like telling someone they've got toilet paper stuck to thier shoe or something. He hasn't felt it was appropriate though, figuring if they look good to the gal wearing it then they're enjoying themselves and he doesn't need to interfere with that.

Kylie, just the build itself was gone. I've had similar things to what you describe happen, so I went into edit mode and tried selecting in the area in which the house was sitting. The furniture, accessories and and windows I'd put in were all there. Then when I checked the about land, and saw that the prims belonging to me were about half of what they'd been I realized it was likely gone.
Amethyst, I've heard of that happening with DMCA notices. I'd purchased it from the MP, honestly it wasn't particularly nice, the reason I bought it was I'd planned on changing the textures and taking it apart so that fact that it was really cheap helped me to not feel any attachment to it.
Pamela I recall reading something about that, I'm glad you had them in your inventory! (btw, my neighbor just purchased one of your houses - it's gorgeous!)
Ceera, yes I did check my lost and found and it's not there. Interesting, I did not know about full parcels sometimes returning the wrong prims. Typically we get a "parcel too full" message - that would be frustrating for either one of us if the other person's things were returned because one of us had pushed it over the limit.
Having destroying a couple of houses with mouse mishaps or with just not paying attention has helped me to not get too attached to my items in SL, plus reading about things that happen with people's inventory. (so sorry to hear about yours Jaimee
) Who knows, maybe I'll log in tonight and it will appear somewhere.

I have copy and mod permissions, and I'd done some extensive editing to the house, turning it from a two story into a one story cottage. I didn't make a copy of the modded house, my bad I know.
I'd checked the about land earlier when I was on, and the prims owned by me was almost half of what it had been.
Since I wasn't logged in for two days and my partner saw it yesterday, I'm confident that there were no accidental edits that took place, but I do know what you're talking about as I've done things like that in the past.
My heart isn't broken or anything, it just seemed incredibly odd that only this one thing would suddenly disappear.

It was there two nights ago when I was last logged in, and still there yesterday when my partner was hanging out in it, then this morning he sent me a snapshot of where our cottage *used *to be. :(
I logged in, and sure enough, it's gone. Nothing else that I own is missing, either from our parcel or from my inventory. It's not in my objects, my lost and found, or in any of my folders.
I tried clearing my cache and relogging, nothing.
Any ideas on what might have happened to it?

GRRRR!!! What I don't understand is how even though I block these incoming adverts I continue to get them? One in particular that has been the worst, there isn't even an inworld store. I absolutely did not join any kind of group or anything with this merchant, I believe I purchased one item 8 months ago on the MP and a couple of days a week I get junk from this person. I've blocked object and person, but I continue to get them.
I finally sent an IM asking to be removed from whatever list I'm on but I'm not holding out hope. I've never filed an AR on anyone, is that what I should do here if I don't get a response?
Is mute different them block?
ETA: Maybe it wasn't okay to mention the name the merchant that I think is the worst so I removed it.
