  1. Welcome to SL, see, thats the amazing thing about SL, it can just be a "casual role playing character interaction game", if you wish that for SL to be for you However you will find, that it can be pretty much anything you can imagine. Its quite unique, and there is hardly any other, uhm...software compareable in terms of "rules" and "game mechanics" out there. I am glad to see, that you seem to already be past the critical point of logging off after 5 minutes because "the grafix and controls of this game suck and are super outdated" ;D
  2. LL ist not destroying SL, its their most valueable moneymaker right now. But Stagnation is regression. They have to move on sometime. Ebbe said something along the lines of, if LL will not deliver a "next gen virtual world" someone else will, and i think he is right on that. Everything that has a beginning has and end. SL is a masterpiece of tech. But it is just old. LL cant just keep appyling bandaids and hacks to the codes, while keeping the grid afloat with duct tape and WD 40 forever, at least not in a efficient way. And yet, SL will be around for several more years, id say we will celebrate its 15. birthday in 2018 A week ago nobody could have been sure. SL could habe been shut down in a week, or the next day (where is the wisdowm in investing into that kind of enviroment?). At least now we a kind of a timeframe. And a looong transsition period, which is the best thing LL could have done.
  3. Hi, i am selling my plot in Sallow. Its near a Linden Road and Railroad, nice neighboughood. So why sell it? Because it has proven to be too small for my needs :matte-motes-bashful-cute: Come and have a look! We can also talk about the price, although i believe it is quite good :) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sallow/224/45/39 Edit: Sold.
  4. I am selling this parcel, because i maybe want to tier down: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Diablerets/125/67/80 Contact me for questions! DixonHill Hawker [edit] New price, 6,480 L$
  5. Indeed. In a way, it is very good, that LL puts themselfes into a competetive market. Sure, SL is not a regular game, but LL obviously will want to leave a good impression. Coupled with the announcement of materials...yes, i like the direction.
  6. What happened to the OP is a good example of the, in my opinion, fundamental problem with new residents and SL. They just dont "get" what SL is, at the beginning. I assume many people come here with false expectations, but you cant really blame them, and LL only a bit. They hear about SL, it is online, often branded as a game, you have an Avatar. Sounds familiar so far. Plus you *can* have sex, you *can* have babies, you *can* be like superman with red lasers shooting out of your eyes. Yes, yes, yes, you *can* do all that. So people come here and of course ask, where to do that, what button to click, what ...questgiver to talk to. I believe, PR wise LL has to make it more clear what SL is (about) from the beginning, tell people, they actually have to *do* stuff, like build or script.
  7. Houses, structures, stuff closely resembeling structures of all kind. I never really tried anything else, due to lack of specefic talents, hehe :matte-motes-asleep-2: But i want to try out building vehicles.
  8. Yes, this. Patronis: your "first build" shows, that your imagination is intact, and that you are willing to explore the posibilitys of Prim building. As for texturing: It is indeed an Art, and textures can "make or break" a build. If you are able to create good textures, and apply them well, you can basicly slap a few prims togehter and make them look good by proper texturing.
