  1. At least make sure you're using stock images instead of swiping them off the net. That's just insulting to the people who own the images.
  2. Its very normal for me. The textures on my avatar, usually clothing, likes to to go blurry for some time. It doesn't really bother me until I want some pics. Then I just rebake.
  3. Something I was working on. However I dropped it since I changed the look of the avatar.
  4. I'm not able to get on at the moment but feel free to hit me up! I do like anime a reasonable amount but I'm not into knowing more recent ones. Ha. Save for Tiger and Bunny so far though.
  5. Short answser - It costs L to upload a texture for clothing. So it does cost money. If you use firestorm you can do tempoary uploads that are free but don't last. I advise doing that. As for how its done, you use 'templates'. These are like a body dummy that a dressmaker will use. It maps the way the avatar mesh is. Following that, you paint on the clothing. Be sure to use a program that uses layers. Gimp, Sai, and Photoshop all do. GIMP is free but doesn't have as many features.
  6. How much are you willing to modify something? I made my first faun out of a freebie horse avatar. Just edit the hooves and you have a very basic leg. Also, for 10L you can get some socks to make your legs 'furry'. Horns can be found cheap for just basic things. Tails are easy to find also. You just have to be prepared to modify the heck out of things. It won't look as good as a true set but its free.
  7. I enjoy being 'short' and a five foot person. It makes me feel less like a giant tripping over my feet. Plus it means I use up less room when doing things. Everyone just needs to do what their comfortable with and not care about the height of others. Besides, I've seen 'child' avatars that were taller than me.
  8. Those southern accents can get a trite confusing, even when you have one. :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: What exactly do you enjoy doing on sl so far? That could help when looking for someone to chill with.
  9. I've honestly never tried with retexturing avatars. I suppose I can do a skin with effort but getting the templates right on the sculpts of avatar heads eludes me. Though someday I will figure it out.
  10. If you need more help, IM me inworld and I'll see what I can do! I can't do textures just yet but I can help with many other things with modding.
  11. I suggest taking the 'shiny' off them. Textured shine looks far better I think. They are rather kooky and I would try to pull it off! I think it would be worth selling them for a moderate price. Maybe copy/mod so people can fix it the way they like.
  12. This is an outfit I recently put together of various freebies. My favorite parts are the mouth and the dress, both from HOO. The colors on it are so so lovely the way they fade from green to purple.
  13. There are many freebies in Second Life, you just have to know where to look! A few websites I suggest... fabfree.com regularly posts freebies or cheap things. Also, be sure to check out their flickr for more! slfreebiehunters.blogspot.com is another great site. They post the prizes from hunts, which are usually free, so you can see what's to win! Also, it doesn't hurt to browse around either. You can find many great things!
  14. I'm feeling that way too and I'm barely a year old. Though, yesterday I took my first trip to Doomed Spaceship. Seeing that amazing build really made me want to see more.
  15. I rather like the idea of business-casual. You don't see enough of it floating around I personally think. Since you're starting out, maybe make your range a bit board to further attract more customers. Even if a niche is full, you can shine with the quality of your clothing.
  16. Bleh, that trend is annoying. There are shapes that are catering to what you're looking for. I know Penny Cow has a free one out that great. Modify too so you can edit it to your hearts content!
  17. I suggest switching over to Firestorm. It is what I have done and seems to fix it. The offical viewer also runs badly for me but I have little problem with Firestorm.
  18. Search for Fabfree. Here is there website, http://fabfree.wordpress.com/. Its very good and most of the things they post are freebies. Its better than Freebie Galaxy too since you have to dig for awhile before you find anything good.
  19. Gosh, I wish you the best of luck finding someone! You're kinda someone I admire. They take the knowledge they have and use it to their advantage!
  20. As far as I know, yes. I have seen signs hanging around mostly anthro places but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere. Best part, even if your prices are for $L you can exchange it for cash if you so desire. Say in your profile what you do and your prices. Perhaps put a few samples into your picks. Your art is rather nice, I'm feel a bit jealous. :matte-motes-inlove:
  21. Already I love this thread. These pictures are older and before I learned basic skills in taking snapshots. And of course, waiting on a lady as usual. I love her dearly but she does take some time to dress. Miss Abbgaile and myself.
  22. Along with lighting, you may want to make your avatar stand out. From what I see, nothing really does about you. Severe 'hourglass' shape. Heavily made up face. Wavy medium hair. Very common looks. Also, I thought curvy meant not having a wasp waist. :smileytongue:
  23. So no one scratches their head over this, I helped her out and we got it smoothed out.
  24. Really, it could all depend on how 'unique' your avatar is. Is it a fox or another common animal? Honestly, it is costly to get a head to to custom avatar. My suggestion is just get it as close as you can. Buy a 'base' avatar and modify the hell out of it. Maybe get some custom textures. There are so many clothes in SL that I'm sure you can find something very close.
  25. Hrm, not sure how a full-body fin like that would work. Unless its mesh it wouldn't bend right with the body. Though I'm sure you can get it segmented! Mmm nagas. So many good memories from WOW.
