  1. I'm afraid I don't know any places. However, the store ~HOO~ has some anime neko avatars on their lucky board. They aren't the greatest but for free they are a great starter! Plus, everything is modify so maybe you could create your own textures and such.
  2. For me, good mesh is doing what sculpts and system layers don't do as well. Long flowing dresses and skirts are a great example. Ones that move with the body in a more realistic way. Also baggyish shirts or loose flowing clothing. I've seen amazing mesh when working with this. Another thing that really makes me smile is to see mesh clothing that ISN'T made from a template. I don't really care if the finished product is sold cheap but when its a full price thing? Yeah no. It doesn't look creative and most of the time just isn't worth the money. Lastly, clothing that comes in a good variety for shapes. I've seen XS, XXS, and even XXXS a few times. But an XL? Hardly ever. For some people with heavier avatars this is just rather sad. Also, an option for an avatar with a heavier bust would be great since I know some people complain about that. Also, I don't buy mesh skinny jeans. I have yet to see the value in them really.
  3. If anyone here is rude its you. Also good luck finding quality items for that cheap. There's a reason they are so pricey.
  4. Are they heels with prim feet? They might be made for a different shape than yours. IN that case you should be able to just edit them and move them down a bit. I find that sometimes I have the opposite problem with shoes on a short shape. : )
  5. I am not sure what you mean by 'special objects'. The sculpted objects you will need? Search didn't turn up too much but I did find: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mellor/80/26/22 There are a few avatars that you could mod for sale. Also, she does custom avatars at a very good price! That could save you a good bit of trouble. : )
  6. A HUD is more scripting than texturing. I suggest you ask in the scripting boards for help. The people there are very nice and helped me out. : )
  7. As someone who has tried modding a sonic base avatar before, I think you really should try using a base avatar to start with. It gives you the head, body, shape, etc. Plus a few parts such as ears. It isn't sold on the marketplace but I know a few sonic sims in-world may have it. Its been some time since I've been in one. But from what you describe...your avatar will need a good bit of work. It seems like a very complicated and confusing design and most likely you will have to make the textures and parts yourself. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Texture_Tools here's something that might help with textures.
  8. I never realized so many are annoyed by hun. : o I need to limit myself on those then. : ) Adding some more sl-related- That 'I LOVE THIS SONG' gesture that is old as dirt. I heard it on my frist sl day and it never dies out. Along with that annoying baby laugh gesture. Most 'meme' sayings are also addable. 'u mad', 'cool story bro', etc. Really its not that hard to come up with something new. Also wow this thread exploded.
  9. Phrases are so popular and I'm sure there are a few that bug people! So what phrase or slogan do you find annoying? : o For me its YOLO. Also that 'git-er-dun' that was so popular in highschool : \
  10. If you don't mind anthro avatars then I would love to help with any questions! Drop an IM inworld and I also think we share the same time zone : )
  11. I'm a bit fo everything and anything. When it comes to humans however I usually have two main skins. One is a fair younger looking face and the other is a more mature darker face. I switch them out often though.
  12. No. They are not allowed. Its mostly people just trying to make a quick buck without the work. Its against policy and law actually unless the photos are stock. Mostly though, they aren't.
  13. Yes!! Thank you so so much for all the help everyone! I've got it working and I plan on using it for more stuff. Plus, I'm starting to figure out other things like this. Much love to you all!
  14. I used the script above to get the alpha to work on touch. MuffinUnsane wrote: integer toggle;//simple integer, 0 by default default { state_entry() { //llSay(0, "Hello, Avatar!"); } touch_start(integer total_number) { toggle =!toggle;//switch the value of toggle between 0 and 1 each time I'm touched if(toggle){ llSetLinkAlpha(LINK_SET, 0.0, ALL_SIDES); //do something } else{ llSetLinkAlpha(LINK_SET, 1.0, ALL_SIDES);//do something different } } } So really, the only trouble I am having is a listener script in the HUD prim. Looking at the wiki for Listen it seems to list one that is for chat uses. So, would it be changing Ownersay to something about touch? Again, thank you for all the help. I'm sorry for being so slow to catch up.
  15. Thank you all for the links. : ) I've looked into it and managed to at least gleam some of the stuff. I've got the HUD set up and its just mostly the scripts. I found the script for changing the alpha of an object. Also looked up on the 'listen' and say 'aspects'. The main trouble I'm having now is just linking them. I've tried looking for examples in the avatars I have but no luck. Looking into it there seems to be one script for listen/alpha and one for say? I'm so sorry if this is making things more confusing.
  16. I'm a bit stumped on a small project of mine. I've made a tongue and wanted to have a HUD for it. Just a simple touch and the tounge goes invisiable with a texture change. Another touch and it becomes visible. Since its for personal use I don't want anything fancy. Is there a site or tutorial that I can learn from? I've tried those automatic script makers but none seemed to be able to do what I want. I've tried googling a bit but nothig has turned up. Much thanks for reading!
  17. Going to tell you up front, a custom furry avatar usually runs up AT LEAST a few hundred. US dollars that is, not L. I really suggest buying a pre-existing avatar and having it modded. Its far easier and cheaper. If I may ask, could you show the reference you have? I'm sure there is already something that looks similar and could work.
  18. From what I have seen about mesh it is useful in certain ways. I usually wear anthro avatars and what the makers have been doing with mesh is pretty great! It makes it look far better than sculpts that don't move with the body. Plus, mesh loads faster on my old computer than sculpts. Plus, it looks great for dresses. Its nice to have looser more conserative dresses than the more risque ones. The way it flows with the body is great when the rigging is good. As for hair...I can do without. Since its usually non sizeable its pretty much useless for anthro heads. That, and even if the human head is small it still won't fit. : \
  19. I find that people who state they are the most different are usually the most dull. :robottongue:
  20. I am strongly against Bloodlines. Its really just a money scheme and will just put you into the hole. Also, fabfree is a great place to start. I also suggest their flickr. Many freebie blogs post their pictures there with links.
  21. Most certainly dark rich colors. Something that screams high-quality fabric. The main flaw I see in clothes created in this styl e is that the fabric is far too shiny. While it may have a slight sheen, shiny fabric is usually cheap and therefore looks cheap. I suggest looking up actual dresses to see the styles and how the fabric goes. Another thing is, how victorian are we talking? Recall that the style was rather consertive with barely an ankle showing. If you want it modern then a little more can show but not enough that there is nothing hidden. Also, frills and lace but just enough to make it look good and not gaudy. Course, that is what I think when I think of the term. : )
  22. I've honestly never had that much trouble? The longest it took me to color match something was about 30 mintues tops. You will never really get the perfect color. Because as soon as you get it looking right in a windlight, it wil look very different in another. Really, just don't fret so much! If it looks great to you then don't worry. Also, screenshooting never worked for me. I just use the RGB values in-world under a basic windlight and from there just eyeball it.
  23. I'm glad others know the feeling! I hope all of you keep getting great sales. While I'm not looking to make oodles of L I'm hoping just a bit to support a few shopping trips.
  24. When you sell your frist item on the marketplace. Seeing the e-mail pop up and the linden resting in your account. Mind racing to think of what you can sell next! Its a great feeling and it made me wiggle around in delight. Did anyone else feel this way after the first sale?
  25. Have you tried roleplay? It can be a great way to meet new people and give you something to do! Even if you've never tried it there are many places that welcome newbies with open arms so long as they show interest in improving. I'm on a really great sim actually called, Realm of Aztlan. If you want, I can send you a landmark in-world. Otherwise, clubs can also be a good place. Just be careful of which ones you go too otherwise you'll be spammed with 'a/s/l wanna cam??'
