I'm not saying that to be a smartass, but it's actually spelled out very specifically what they can, can't and will and will not do, with regard to third parties. https://secondlife.com/corporate/privacy.php?lang=en-US#privacy3 It's near the bottom Third Party Advertisements Linden Lab participates in ad and/or affiliate networks operated by various third party companies. I stop whining now is quite clear. the policy says accept it or don't use the service. so thats it. oh! well

  4. I was just chatting with Grandpa Linden. some people say he is a madeup person. but is true. like almost anyways he said was his cunning plan. like he get brought out of the Home for Old Age Retired Lindens to rescue the whole world. he said is his the cunning plan. that nobody is buying islands anymore and paying tiers. so he going to put teach them. them like us. am going to spam them to death. he said and they will go nuuuuu!!! and go rushing back and buy some islands and pay tiers again like they suppose to I say that I don't think anyone gunna get sucked in by that cunning plan. and he say wrooonnngg!!! bc last month we not lost any sims. we actual get like 31 more than we had the month before I went ooowaaahhh! and he went thats right !!! can double that ooowahhh!!! and put a tail on it and call it a ferret I say wut !!! and he say that as well. I say what as well??? and he say don't be cute. you know what I mean. and I say no I don't. and he say if I not shut up he gunna mute me. and I say go on then. and he did so i came on here to whine about it. like the muting part. is not fair that. bc he is batty (:
  5. can make an attachment that you wear on your back. say a box (but can be any shape) make it alpha so is invisible but you can click on it easy in the box put a ball that is physical. texture it how you want. can put a script in the ball to add effects to the ball like Rolig says. is optional that to start with but you probably will later on + is a soccer ball i think you want. to be able to dribble it and stay on the ball ok when click the box then script rezz the ball the script then puts a follower on the ball. llMoveToTarget. so your avatar run into the ball. the ball being physcial will move bc has been bumped by you. your avatar then move to the ball. bump again and so on + ok. next. bc thats not much fun bc you got no control over where the ball goes.and no control over your avatar either so. in the script you llTakeControls so can start/stop the follower when press PgDn then it toggle the follower to On/off if Off then you can move normal and stop moving to the ball. if On then avatar go to the ball and bump it. if press any other key while is On then it pause the follower and your avatar can move normal. so can run round the ball and then release the keys. avatar will then move to the ball and bump it from new direction + next part is to be able to long kick the ball. like a 4 or 5 meter kick. say from the penalty spot. ok in TakeControls when press PgUp then it apply some impulse to your avatar. llApplyImpulse. if you facing the ball then your avatar will bump the ball with more force bumping it harder.making it go further if switch to Run mode then you can move faster. and dribble the ball faster + the secret is the follower. llMove2Target. it helps you stay on the ball when get good at it then can go into Run mode. and just use left right arrows to steer and use down arrow to brake a bit into the turns. kinda like a stutter step. and can slam it with PgUp every now and again to make more faster dribbling + can add effects to yourself. as was mention by others. can make/get a kicking animation that plays when press Pgup key + edit add: just for anyone making a trick ball for a easy to play way where just want to run round and kick it yourself. and use llMoveToTarget when follow is On then before MoveToTarget while fire have the script check for avatar orientation. only fire the moveToTarget when avatar is facing the ball close enough. it can look a bit funny otherwise bc your avatar will move sideways into the ball if don't have a animation for it
  6. the CHUI is in expanded mode by default so that you can see all the new options. is quite a lot of them. multi-conversations invites and history logging of all chats and IMs. etc to hide all the new options then collapse the CHUI by press the buttons marked in red in the pic below. will be like the old way when do this. IMs and groups in 1 window. nearby chatbar and onscreen scroll

ToS include provision for your info to be passed to 3rd party advertisers while on our site I completely disagree with you on this. Websites cost very little to run. If you can make your own site, then there's only the ongoing hosting to pay for. Most websites are small hobby types which virtually nobody would pay anything to. Affiliate advertising can pay the costs of those sites, making the hobby cost nothing. Brilliant! Large sites can make a lot of money from affiliate ads. If they charged users to view parts of their sites, the users wouldn't pay anything like the amount that is made from affiliate ads. So your suggestion doesn't make sound economic sense for websites in general. I said can make a paywall bc David said was insulting to browse content makers websites without paying for it. cutting off their income by blocking ads on their sites is how he said it if content makers are that insulted then is other options they can take. like a paywall

I recently got IE10 in my updates and it definitely wasn't turned on by default. In fact, I didn't know it was included until I started searching on "ad blocker" as a result of a discussion in this forum. yes is. it just not very intuitive to know this loading a 3rd party Tracking Protection List is an option. which is what most people do. but when you first install 1E10 and go to Tracking Protection then is only: Your Personalised List which is enabled. in IE9 this was disabled bc is a new install then is not blocking any website content to start with. but bc is enabled it starts building a list of websites content that is potentially tracking you. when the content reach the threshold then the browser will start automatic blocking them the threshold by default is 30 different websites is this that upset the advertiser companies when they found out Microsoft had changed IE10 to Enabled by default + if double click Your Personalised List then you see something like this in the pic is set to the default max 30. which means the content in the right column owned by the provider in the left column has shown up on 30 different websites and is now Automatically Blocked everywhere if set to a lower number say like 10 websites then will automatically block after 10 and so on can also set Allow/Block manually as you like once a website content shows up on the list + edit add: basically IE10 automatic blocks once it reach the threshold and then you optin to Allow itto continue. this a fundamental change to how browsers used to work. is now optin to excessive web wide advertising from the same content/provider. not opt out. which is how it was before can also optin everywhere to advertising by disable Your Personal List and not load any 3rd party lists + edit add more just to complete when a content is blocked on a webpage the blue block icon is enabled on the url address bar. can then click on it if you want and it will allow the blocked content thru

But why is this a bad thing? I find that people on SL are generally too paranoid about their precious personal information, as if the world is trying to stalk or murder them. And oh no, what if I get a virus from this Google Ad, or what if they can see my personal information? Pffft. 1) You can't get a virus from a Google Ad, 2) They actually cannot see any personal information other than the basic browser and location stats that can be seen by ANY website. If you're *that* paranoid you shouldn't be online at all. In terms of ad-serving, collecting some personal information is A GOOD THING,it allows ad-networks to actually serve up relevant ads based on your location and general interests. Would you rather see ads from another country of a service that has no relevance to your life ( that would be annoying, spammy ) or would you prefer seeing an ad of something local that you can actually use? I'd prefer the latter, thank you very much ( /me hands Google all his personal information.) That said, using ad-blockers takes away income from some legitimate website for which display ads are their only source of income, some websites such as full time bloggers (professional bloggers who actually do it for a living) rely on Adsense, etc. To generate part of their income stream. It's insulting to enjoy content on a website and refuse to see the ads. Support the creators of the content that you enjoy by supporting their income streams. Do not run ad blockers. - That said. Linden Lab doesn't necessarily need the extra income stream from display ads, though I have no problem seeing them on the site. I just wish they would implement them a bit better so that it doesn't look like such a mess. There are better ways of placing these things. this been discussed before on here. but is worth doing again linden when they created SL made a privacy policy. nobody including them can pass information that they obtain to a 3rd party without that persons express permission or when/where that person has made it publicly available themselves this has been the way of SL since the beginning until now. the advert website policy changes this + is most evident on the marketplace. when buy something this info is passed to the 3rd party advertisers via the url. what we search for. what we buy it becomes more problematic when adverts appear inworld. which they do when access a website service from within the viewer. like your dashboard for example we didn't get asked if we wanted this. linden don't provide us with a way to opt in or opt out is a take it or leave it proposition. which is consistent with your view. if don't like it then get off the interwebz is lots of people not very happy with this proposition. even the browser makers understand this is not a very good proposition. so they build in blocking and inprivate browsing facilities etc + is a policy paradox as well linden have been a champion of optout privacy for their customers and have now moved to a more loose definition of user privacy. which contrary to browser makers who are moving to a tighter privacy definition by building into the browsers blocking tools in Microsofts case with IE10. blocking is now turned on by default + edit add: just in case people might think I am some kinda nym freak I run my viewer with media on. i even got a attached media player that runs web radio in my viewer which I wear all the time is about choices. I can choose to do this or not. so can other people. linden made it so we can optin/optout as we choose. with the linden webservice 3rd party adverts and implicit info sharing. linden don't gives us the same option. that's what wrong I think and I would like them linden to consider this + edit add more: if this is about revenue generating then linden could provide Premium members and residents who maintain a PIU account balance to the same amount of the annual premium subscription an optin/optout facility. for free/non-PIU accounts then no option. you get the adverts and cant opt out + edit more more. bc I been thinking about it more now (: a way the PIU/non-Premium can work is: (the formula works for Premiums as well) take the total amount of US$ that you put in since you create your account. either thru estate/sim tier or direct L$ purchase divide amount by number of months since you started. while the sum remain above $US6 then optin/optout is enabled this the fair way. rather than say a 12 month only running count. bc a person who paid say 3 months of sim tier then have to abandon for RL reasons has paid $885. which if divide by $US6 is equal to about 12 years of Premium annual subscription. add in the setup/transfer fees then is more + bc the formula is applied to the US$ account balance then can also work for non-Premium who never put money in but generate a US$ surplus and cash out. a surplus they get from doing something that is of added value to other residents. if adding value then get the courtesy/recognition of optin/optout. which the formula takes into account also
  19. says the number 2517182113141020183338 q: (: + i had a couple of goes as well. 1st time i made it to the 2nd continent. got on the road but got killed on a circuit timeout. Task Manager to reboot 2nd time got drowned in the ocean. Task Manager again didnt go back after that for a 3rd go is still a pain. but at least is the same thing killing me now at the moment. not all kinds of different things like before. so i suppose thats good. in a less pain is somehow better than more pain kinda way + one thing i did learn recent tho was on Inaras blog. she say that linden are working on a fix for a long outstanding greifer hax the hax is where a scripted object can force a sim crossing handoff fail on itself. the object can then appear to be on the next sim. but is actual still on the previous. giving the appearance that is able to override build and object entry and autoreturn restrictions another effect of this is that the object can disappear but the scripts are still running. and if the parcel it is truly on has build perms then it can rezz objects which appear on the next sim. again giving the appearance of godlike powers both these effects happened with vehicle crashes of the type we seeing at the moment. the one that requires us to use Task Manager to exit the viewer so maybe if linden fix this hole then will also fix this kind of vehicle crash/lock up as well. bc seems to me that is the same cause from what Inara mention
  20. Perrie Juran wrote: my point though in my post was that it seems like changing the camera view seems to change my 'aim' a little. yes. in the diagram can see about the bisect line. whats interesting is that's where we mostly pick regardless of our camera. can see this in Innulas photos. the box is close to her feet in the room pic. which correspond to the bisect line of her camera shown by the redlines. the box is further away in the sandbox shot. bc her horizon is lower than in the room shot is ok the redline camera position when is nothing behind you. when is something behind then blue lines. or move green avatar further away from the wall. which reduce the picking distance between the camera and the far boundary this most problematic in Linden Homes which are small parcels and not regular sized rectangles. so if your camera is flatter then end up tilt the camera. zoom the camera closer to the floor. etc. then rez. or work out where you can stand without doing this. and where you cant and not do it there. so rez and then edit/move to where you want it is plain old geometry that dictate these kinds of things. we do have choices and can make them for ourselves. the choices that we do have tho are bound by the math. is nothing we can do to change the bounds themselves. to change the bounds we have to change the math/formula/algo being applied

The tabs save a click, but they are unnecessary screen distractions thats the spirit. set up the viewer to suit what works best for you (: bc you now getting rid of UI clutter and learning the key shortcuts then you be a super gamer in no time: if can learn how to do the shortcuts with your left hand then right hand hardly ever have to leave the mouse can become a super freegan SL gamer shopper even. like if is a wall of MM boards then can strafe it. can cut down your freegan shopping time by heaps (: + strafing is when walk sideways with the camera point ahead like normal. and use the mouse to click/shoot the boards the way i strafe the MM boards SL freegan gamer style is lefthand WASD little finger on SHIFT. ring finger on A. middle finger on W to go forward. S to go back. index finger on D strafe left SHIFT+A. strafe right SHIFT+D. left mouse to click/shoot. right mouse to buy/inspect. mouse wheel to zoom + strafing always works good when browsing a row of vendors on a shop wall. don't have to turn walk turn to look the vendor. turn walk. turn again to look at the next vendor for faster rezzing. i usual strafe a whole wall in a big shop just to get them in the camera viewer interest list sooner to start the texture rez process. then at the end of the wall strafe back more slowly + other one is using the mouse to steer. like hold down left mouse on your avatar. then W to move forward. S to go backwards. move the mouse to steer. can strafe it as well doing this way + other SL gamer style trick is when someone else trying to bump your avatar can drive them insane bc you can move at funny/different angles to the usual way that most people move in SL. and they cant catch you chuck in doubleclick ground TP to get behind them superquick then can really make them go nuts them people give up pretty quick when they being outgamed. bc you showing that you can play better than them. and so you never have to say anything at all to them in the chat or IM. you just do it to them when they start with the bumping. and they give up pretty quick

Ain't love funny? Duh. Maybe if the idiots making the viewer made it more user friendly in the first place, huh? Also, I got news for you. Sitting down? Listening? Good. Here we go:- SL residents are customers. That is one. They have every right to complain if something is half assed and simply stupid, as in the case of CHUI. That is two. They actually have a right to complain about anything that they are paying for if it does not meet their own standards or requirements. That is three. Ain't the truth painful? customers also have the ability to participate in development of SL. like can dl the beta viewers and have a go on them. if want changes to it then can file a change request jira lots of customers participate in the CHUI beta. lots more didn't but them that did got lots of changes made that suit them. like me and quite a few others wanted to ensure that the Nearby Chat bar was preserved. so can still haveon screen chat scrolling. at a early stage in the development it looked like NoIdea Linden was thinking of taking this out so customers who wanted this preserved made their case thru the jira. so NoIdea Linden get overruled by ListenToTheCustomers Linden
  24. Hoshi Kenin wrote: As always, I am constantly amazed at your 'insider' knowledge. It really is remarkable. However, as much as I hate to burst your bubble, consider this:- The icon 'buttons' provided are actually a pretty good idea. A much better idea than CHUI. Yet here you are, triumphantly declaring removing these, and typing shortcuts on a keyboard vis a vis clicking the buttons (clicking a icon/button is faster and easier than typing a shortcut...which is why the side bar buttons were phased in in the first place!) as a solution (!) to the incompetence of the CHUI system in the latest LL viewer, that is destined to lead even more people to TPV's than Emerald did from V1 LL viewer. Also, residents should not have to do this to use a UI. A good UI should be secondary to the actual 'immersion' in the game or virtual world. It should not distract, nor should some woolly-minded steps to remove buttons because the silly chat window is too big, clunky, badly thought out be considered a workable solution. i don't have any insider knowledge.i wish i did tho. would save me a heaps of time i only know what i know bc i when i have to use something i learn about it. like try it out and see. try to understand why it was made in the way it was. if i still don't know then i read up on it. if still don't know after that then iust ask on the forums here + about the Chat toolbutton. is only one button. Somebody Linden had to choose: open CHUI or Nearby chat when the button is clicked. so they obvious choose CHUI bc that's what happens when you click it so Ctrl+H to toggle Nearby Chat. which is the way it always worked dunno if you use Mouselook much tho. so maybe you not notice there is no buttons/menus in Mouselook to click on by default. never has been. Mouselook is similar to gamer FPS mode. where players use key combos all the time. bc is faster to play that way
