  1. I am building a concert venue and am needing some single/couple animations.

Imagine being at an outdoor setting, watching your fave band perform. You're by yourself or with your squeeze, enjoying the environment. With that said, here is what I'm looking for:

    1) 2 Single/couple stands

    2) 2 Single/couple dances

    3) 2 Single/couple sits

...on a blanket with a pillow (a picnic setting would be bonus, not necessary).

All animations must be PG. No adult style, please. No pose balls.

I don't do PayPal or any other pay system. I only pay in Lindens.

NC me in-world with proposal and rates.

  2. I couldn't help smiling reading this thread.

I think we've all been there, accidentally deleting the house. I once changed the texture of my upstairs area with an advertising texture. Talk about gauche.

I just deleted it and carefully adjusted the new house to where the furniture and posters were hanging.

Just slow down when placing the house. It's not going anywhere (unless someone...never mind). Enjoy the digs.

  3. I recently purchased a new puter and am migrating what I can from the old desktop to the newer. I have ran into a snag concerning Winamp and signing in.

I have ver 5.8 3660 and noticed that the pref page for pertinent info has changed.

How do I fill in the required info such as server source, channel and/or password? I'm hoping someone uses the same version and can walk me through the sign in process. Am I missing something?

I have looked into Mixxx and liked what I saw (sign in was a breeze) but am having separate problems there, I'll save for another thread if need be.

This is a known issue with a very specific version of the nvidia drivers and they just pushed out an update specifically to fix this for Second Life and Minecraft.

Really really. update the drivers. If that doesn't fix it. Downgrade the drivers.

It's the drivers. These drivers fix this - > https://www.techpowerup.com/296266/nvidia-geforce-516-59-game-ready-drivers-released

    Problem solved!!!!

I can run in Ultra now, not I plan to run around the grid in that setting on the laptop, but no more lines (♫ lines, lines, everywhere a...♪  never mind). Funny, I can use my desktop with no problems at Ultra. I know, apples/oranges, but I can do both machines now.

    Thank you Coffee.

I was about to tell you to back off that setting a bit. Now I don't have to. YAY!

It's where I keep mine set even if my graphics card can handle full Ultra.

I was advised by a gentleman at Firestorm chat group to pull back a notch for the time being. It worked but I really wanted the Ultra level for photos. Now I can. I'll experiment a bit and who knows, I may just leave it one notch back for grins sake.

Thank you Silent and everyone else who tossed a serious suggestion.

But hey, thanks for playing. Now run along.

I updated my drivers and still had the problem.

Everyone else, I posted at Firestorm chat and described my problem. Very helpful folk there. Someone there suggested I was pushing my graphics a bit hard but to pull back to 'High'. I did so and it cleaned up. I clicked it to one click before 'Ultra' and the problem was gone as well, and my photo tools still work to how I like to use..

I guess if I use 'Ultra', I'll just need to experiment with my settings.

Apologies if General is the wrong forum to ask this question.

Just started using my laptop for Second LIfe. Out of curiosity, I cranked it to Ultra to see my FPS. Settled at around 15-20. Good enough for photography (w/ shadows and all). I noticed some lines in my shot. Depending on what I'm shooting, I could maybe get away with them if I'm shooting wide. However, they more pronounced as I zoom in.

    My lap info:

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz (2496 MHz)
    Memory: 7994 MB
    Concurrency: 8
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 11 64-bit (Build 22000.778)
    Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650/PCIe/SSE2
    Graphics Card Memory: 4096 MB

    Windows Graphics Driver Version: 31.0.15.1640
    OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 516.40

Shot 1 Wide, the lines are not texture on the deck...Shot 2 Medium, they more pronounced. Notice the angle of the lines on the deck. They are not shadows...Shot 3 Close, see Shot 2. These are not shadows on the wall and those are not leggings or web hose on my legs.

    Any ideas how to remedy?

PS, reminder, these are shot in Ultra mode, with all default settings as such.

The GPU shortage is over. Basically, because crypto mining hardware purchases are way down.

Prices are now running slightly below the manufacturers' suggested retail price.

There are also lots of GPUs for sale on eBay, but many of them have had most of their useful life used up running 24/7 in some crypto mining operation. If you go that route, be prepared to run tests and make sure you can return the thing.

Most of what's available is overkill for current SL, but the viewers are getting new features that will use more GPU capability.

I checked that link to the article you posted. Has some interesting points.

I also checked the examples (Best Buy) the author listed and it raised a question I have always wondered.

I would like to upgrade to a newer GPU. The one I have now is an Nvidia Geforce card I was given and have been using since 2016. Nvidia is still giving me updates. Sadly, I'm unable to give you the exact card model as I'm on my lappy now and the card is in my desktop (maybe post here an update later when I get on the desk).

I had the stock power unit removed (180w) and a 450w unit installed. Am hoping to get an I-7 processor (I-3 now) sometime. The desk is an HP and can be expanded. My question is how set in concrete are the recommended power supply ratings?

If i purchase a new card that has a recommended power of 500w, would using a 450w power supply make much of a difference?

I am in sl since 12 days.

    My question

Do you have any recommendations what I could do to improve my situation in sl? Some important things to learn or important things to know? Will it get better by time or will it remain a struggle? What could be an important next step?

Take your time. Don't try to learn too much at one sitting. That will just frustrate you. If you decide to take some time away at first, fine. It'll be here when you come back. Don't allow the naysayers to hamstring you. This will just slow you down.

Take your time. Build your Avi at your rate. It will change over time. Start with the basic Avi offered by SL, but dollars to donuts,  you will eventually want to upgrade to a premium body/head. There are many to choose from. Yes, they are expensive (relatively speaking), but in the long run you won't look back. With that said, I can not emphasize this enough...DEMO, DEMO, DEMO! Don't buy before demoing for looks and fit. This goes with clothes as well as body/heads.

Take your time. When you are comfortable, learn some basic editing. This will be handy when you move into a house and need to move furniture and what not around. Learn the 'X', 'Y' and 'Z' axis. You don't need to learn just yet. Put on a "To Do" list.

It will remain a struggle until, through sheer repetition, you start remembering how something works. Then it gets easier. Every poster at this forum has been there, done that. We were all noobs at one time. Just maintain course headings and you'll be okay. There are plenty of suggestions I could give you, but no sense in overloading you now. In time, you will figure your own progress.

    Oh. Take your time.

I must say one last thing. Second Life is not a game. If you refer to it as such, the purists may come out of the woodwork (myself included) to correct you. There is no goal, no winning levels and no prize at the end. It is an experience. You will always be learning something. I hope some will come here and toss you more suggestions/recommendations.

Take your time and have fun. Welcome to SL.

  10. Go to your dashboard and click 'Account'.

Click 'Premium Membership'. This will place you on an information page showing the difference between Premium and Premium +.

Just below the Premium section that states '$99.00 per year' (Your Current Plan), is the link to downgrade (Choose Basic Plan).

This is certainly true for some. In my experience, a lot of furniture (blankets and rugs included) come with modify permissions and include AVsitter as the animation menu. If the [AV]adjuster object and [AV]helper script are included in contents, you can add your own animations, position the avatar(s) to your liking and save the positions to the AVpos notecard. The AVsitter website is very helpful in that as are the many linked videos. (| AVsitter™ documentation)

If the furniture does not use AVsitter but is modifiable, you can sometimes still add your own animations.

If that is the case, would that include removing some animations as well? I would think if I located something close to what I envision, removed unneeded animations, added my sits/cuddles/dance moves, I would be infringing on someones true creation.

I've found one store that deals in full perm animations and they offer a few sits I could use. I purchased one for now, just for experimenting with. If anyone could recommend other shops that offer full perm sits (show mo?), it would be appreciated.

I believe you'll need something like AVsitter.  I'm sure there must be other ones available but that's the one I see the most.

I cut and paste that example on to a NC Script in the notecard section and drop into the blankets edit file. Do i add it before or after the full perm animation?

Bear with me on this. I am a rookie. I couldn't find what I desired so figured to just build it myself. This is not intended to be my final item to place in-sim, but a great way to learn and improve myself in-world.

I'm seriously considering Rowans suggestion. In the long run, I might come up with what I see in my head as the final product.

UPDATE: I used Roligs suggestion and it worked great. I wonder now what values do I change to place me more to the back of the blanket as opposed to the front. Also to raise my seat a bit higher (I'm more or less embedded into the blanket)

    Thank you Rolig!!!

  13. I am attempting to create a festival style blanket. Without getting into details available in previous posts, I have purchased a full perm blanket and a full perm sitting animation.

Since I am not a creator (this would be my first attempt creating something I can't locate on MP or in stores), I feel I've already made a rookie mistake.

I placed the sit into the blanket edit file. Of course, it's not enough to get the sit to perform as wanted. I'm curious to what steps I'm missing. A veteran creator will see my oversight instantly. How do I get the sit animation to talk to the full perm blanket?

It would not be hard to create, but would require the maker to have dances CT to be able to give to you and you copy, and that would likely make the item more expensive than is reasonable.

You might want to think about just having the blanket with the sits. Just saying.

Apologies for the late response, but I do see your point.

The venue will have dance huds available, but I'm trying to keep it clutter free (line dance tabs, pose balls out in the open...).

Blankets with sits/cuddles (PG) is my main objective. I guess there are blankets with copy/mod/perm abilities. I would just have to find appropriate sits to attach. Obviously, I am not a creator.

Have to start somewhere. Wish me luck.

  15. I posted this at 'Creators' but it was suggested I repost here. Perhaps someone might wish to give it a try.

I am putting together a outdoor concert venue. I have all the elements required (not cheap, trust me) to present a good listening environment. However, I am looking for one last feature that perhaps a creator can produce (maybe never thought of?).

I'm looking for a combination sitting/dancing blanket. Allow me to explain.

A blanket that will allow a single/couple sit (pg) or dance. Have maybe three single/couple sits. A few single/couple dances. Might have a few texture changes for the blanket. The blanket could eliminate the ugly pose balls and dance tabs used in line dancing anims.

I've searched MP and have not found anything like what I described. I'm not hiring any one to to produce, but to throw this idea out there. Maybe it's been done in the past and I missed it. A good creator could probably put one together in a matter of hours.

If someone can point out such a product, let me know. Otherwise, my suggestion stands.

  17. I have not been to this forum for the last few months. If this subject has been covered, I apologize for the repeat.

I have a home at Bellisseria, which I've had for close to two years. No problems to speak of with neighbors or loose animals. A nice quiet area to live at and enjoy the solitude. Recently, I've noticed two 'individuals' hanging around my residence. On the surface, no big deal. Probably just checking the area out. However, I have noticed them again and again, same spot every time. They don't move.

Checking their profiles turns up empty. Nothing. Nada. I got curious and stepped outside and zoomed into them.

One, a male, was just standing. Some body movement and packing heat in his waistband. The other, a female, was standing on a hill behind my house in a bikini. No lake, river or shoreline was close by. CIA 101 states that to not be noticed, don't attract attention to oneself. Dress the part. Be that wallflower that will be forgotten once you leave the area. These two would have washed out in week one.

After noticing the two, I expanded my draw distance to the max. I was surprised at the result. A large number on these avatars were created within days of each other and they are scattered around my parcel. All had empty profiles.

I understand ToS will allow bots as long as they are properly identified as such in the profile. Did I mention these profiles were empty?

Can something be done to move these 'people' along. Yes, it's a virtual world and no real RL problems are presented. It's the idea of just parking an avatar in a certain spot and walking away.

Anyone else have the same problem and what did you do?

For the record, I spend most of my time at a private region. I find the Belli house a great spot to set up photo shoots. I have the primage to do so.

  18. I was going to post a question concerning Win11 and SL, but from the responses in this thread, so far, show a clear 'thumbs down' for the moment.

My new HP lap is Win11 compatible and I have been sent notices in update that the days of 11 are coming.

I'm not a fan of Win10 by any means (dislike the layout) so I grabbed a Win7 shell and installed it. Win7 was so much easier to navigate.

I'll hold off on any Win11 install...for a long while at the least.
