This is real time viewing and downloading happening every second we are logged in. I'm not saying anyone should go out and replace their machine every 2 years, that's a personal choice, but obviously having the latest and greatest does give you more freedom to enjoy Second Life the way the developers probably intended it to be. I have a 2 computers with a gtx 680, and I can turn draw distances down, and I still lag like the dickens in crowded places. It's definetly not my computers.

Too be honest with you, it's hard to find a nice person on this forum because all the regulars here then to be jerks at times (thankfully, it's not as bad as the first forum). THe only regular I've seeb on this forum doesn't flame or result to name calling Marigold.

It's really sad how LL lets scammers get away to things like this. If someone does something like this on Steam for example, they will get banned. This is one of the things that makes you question LL and their support. EDIT: Guess I suck at reading; the guy's stuff was removed from the market place. But, it still sucks for all the people that were scammed.

Sorry, there were a few misunderstandings in my post. 1. It's certainly high end when you have to pay over $300 for a graphic card. The 660ti is considered mid range, but even that's too expensive for the average SL consumer. If I was just playing SL only, even I wouldn't pay that much for video card. 2.Overclocked GTX275. No trouble running it at 1920x1080 resolution. Also, when I said $100 card, I meant in the $100-$200 range like a gtx 560ti. Also, I tend to use the word "max settings" wrong all the time. At least near max settings would be an appropriate word? 3. Besides shadows, I don't see much of a difference. Most of SL doesn't look that great anyway. I think you know that SL consist of mostly ametuer builds that.....do not all that great. 5. Sadly, this is true because of SL's architecture, but I believe anything released in a last 5 years should be good enough to run this game on medium at least. To get back on topic here, anyone running SL on a gaming laptop? Specifically around the $1200-$1800 mark?

My favorite brands are Corsair and Seasonic. Case: with good airflow ( at least 1 intake fan and 1 exhaust fan, but the more slots the better ) and not too small, good GPUs are big, then just won't fit in to some small cases. SSD/HDD: depends on what do you need from PC. Generally these days for ok builds people buy 1 64-128GB SSD to install OS, software and games there ( for games it's better to have 128gb one ) and 1-2TB HDD for the rest of stuff, like music, movies and other stuff. SSD: crucial m4 is good stuff for it's money. HDD: any brand, but assuming you will put SL cache there and maybe some games, 7200rpm one, 5400rpm are more quiet, but slower. If you don't need SSD, then just HDD will do too. Depends on the prices and brands it should be about 1k $ with 660TI GPU. I strongly suggest to NOT buy pre-built PCs, they are overpriced and/or have terrible combination of hardware. Like a good high end CPU with low end GPU and terrible power supply, which means you will need to change it if you want to buy a better GPU. And I'm saying gaming rig, because SL is very demanding or rather horrible optimised, it won't run smooth on a budget PC at all, even at high settings leave alone ultra ones. P.S. Sorry OP, don't know much about laptops, so can't suggest anything other than staying away from laptops when it comes to gaming. =( Why is it that people like this always come into these topic posting parts for high end super computers? Speaking as a person with a high end machine (gtx680 and i7 2600), unless you want to play a game that needs a needs high specs (like Farcry 3 or Planetside 2) on max settings, you do not need to waste your money for a computer like that just to play "Second Life." Second life on Max settings does not look all that better than SL on medium. gtx 660 ti and up cost over 300 dollars, and I certainly think you can run most things fine with a $100 card. On my other computer, my 4 year old graphic card can run this game just fine on MAX settings.

Buying them with real money. In my opinion, SL jobs just don't give you enough. Why work for days when I can just make the same amount by uploading $10 or by having a premium account?

Not a big fan of drama, but I LOVE talking to other people about their problems. You learn about more about a person and you get a chance to help them. Of course, perhaps my degree in psychology has something to do with it?

Eh, I love using Linux Mint, and I love Nvidia graphic cards....but until the gaming scene becomes popular on linux, I don't think I really care that much about the whole thing at the moment. I'll just keep using Windows for games, and Linux for everything else. Besides, I'm sure the millions of talented Linux developers will continue to create driver for non supported hardware even when the technology advances.

I honestly don't think LL ever cared about their users, especially when half their answers are basically, "residental desputes, solve it on your own."

It's not really all that hard to find lindens without that much work. Look for groups on SL that deal with free lindens. They award you with lindens if you do a series of surveys or trying out programs on the internet.

People who think they're the most important thing in the world. Example: the majority of the profiles in SL. (Blah, blah, blah, I won't talk to you unless blah blah blah). It seems that most people these days have a HD 6950 or a gtx 560ti in their system. I'm currently using a 460 gtx, which has served me well for a LONG time now. I just want to know whether preformance increase would be worth it? I usually run SL fullscreen at the highest resolution (1920 x 1200)
