All you can do is supply as much information and details as you can.  We've been told that many time.

I was hoping there were some hints in there how to get better details.  I'd rather protect the parcel first, report later.

It depends on the inappropriate behavior though.

But, just to ask a question, what do you think of inworld griefers?   It may depend on the "what" of the griefing event; though inworld griefing could make for an interesting or nauseating topic.  Probably both.

I'd prefer someone keep it to their own parcel with religious humor because for the most part it's not funny and stirs up bad feelings in others.

If someone is going to a church to cause trouble, they are asking for the people in the church to be offended.  They are equally asking begging to be banned too (which occasionally they then play the victim too).

It goes back to respecting others and common decency.  If you go to grief and cause trouble, don’t be surprised if you are sent flying and banned.

If it’s actual humor like my earlier lightbulb reference, then yes, people need to learn to have fun and relax a little.

In the viewer:  Help menu / Report Abuse -- If it is about something you can show inworld, then have it showing in your view.  The Report process will automatically take a screen shot.  Pick the appropriate category.  If it is for an inworld object, you can click the orange box in the Report Abuse window and then click the object inworl and it will automatically fill in the object and owner.  If not an object you can click, then click Choose and start typing a person's name - select them in the list and click OK. Write a short descriptive Summary and then give as much detail as you can in the Details section.  Then click "Report Abuse" button.

If for something here in the forums, simply click the 'Report post' link in the upper right of the post you want to report.  The link is a hidden link until you mouse over it:

    image.png.9340d60ca39e8f9dd1e1bc19178473b3.png

Type in comments as to why you are reporting the post - what you think the problem is.

Thank you, but that wasn’t what I asked.  It was more about the content of the report, since most aren’t investigated due to completeness.

When you eject and ban someone, and file later,  You have no screenshots and unless something is in local chat or IM, no evidence.  SecondLife doesn’t have a record button for griefers.

  10. There are a few in no particular order...

    1. People who are someone different between different sims
    2. People who are simply not good to their word or play "catch me if you can".
    3. People who go into a sim acting like they own it, then cry about their right to be there when they are banned from it and don't pay the bills.
    4. People who grief others in a blatant or subtle manner
    5. People who toy with other's hearts.
    6. People who bully others, or try to.
    7. People who don't seem to mind that you're married when they just want their cheap thrill.
    8. People who use alts to stalk others
    9. People who use their position to buy others in one way or another
    10. People who would rather dissolve a friendship when they are wrong, rather than make it right again.

    I'll stop at 10, there's a lot of other answers.  😃

  11. As a Christian, all I will say is that making fun of the habits of the faith is not degrading the faith.

Let me help you, in some churches, they may not replace 50 year old lightbulbs because they are resistant to change.

That is very different from trying to argue with another that what they believe is wrong, dead, or attacking someone for what they believe.

I think we should exercise some good judgment and make good choices about being considerate to others.  If you don't have something good to say, just don't say it.

Maybe you are just unlucky. In the time i have been in SL i have found support to be very helpful and in 90% of the time i contacted them either via a ticket or via Livechat they were able to answer my question or help solve my issue. I am also a merchant and have flagged reviews in the past. In some cases the flag was honored and the review removed and in others they did not remove the review. I have never had my account put on hold for anything and i do know that there have to be pretty grave grounds for LL to do that.

So, sorry you have had such bad experiences, i do not share them.

@Jules Catlyn, I had this happen once, where I put a bad review on Marketplace and the merchant didn’t like it, and tried to bully me into removing it.  Being it was on point, can a merchant just have a bad review removed because they don’t like it?

Thankfully, most of my reviews are complimentary.

There is a person on sl that has my sim, as well as one of my admins in her profile, making some false claims on us. We did report her, which by the way I never do cause sl as it is gives plenty of options to deal with griefers and harassers but in this case I felt that it is needed. Now is there a way to follow up on this because what she is doing is really not legal even..

As someone who has a church in SexondLife,  I’ve seen people just start false statements in SecondLife for the sake of doing it.

It simply happens, and at first it really affected me.  The truth is that people who know you and your sim won’t pay much attention to these people, if any at all.  They may affect some who might visit in the future, but it can also backfire (as it did in my case) and caused people to come instead.

At the end of the day, it’s your sim, you pay the tier, you manage the group and experience, and try to do what’s best for everyone.

Life is too short, don’t take away your energy from those who support you to chase the ones who don’t.

As for what is illegal, we have ban lines and security orbs to take care of trespassing.  Nobody is arrested for it.  Sadly, those perverts who jump people trying to have sex with those sitting on beach chairs without other’s approval aren’t prosecuted either.

SecondLife allows people to speak freely, which is good.

Nobody in SecondLife has to listen to those people, even better.

That creeped me out when I saw that, it;s only happened once on my parcel.  I couldn’t kick her out and she logged out, but was still there.  It took about an hour after she logged, but went away.

    Greetings all!

The only "automation" that is used for Abuse Reports is for grouping Reports together.  If others engage in "mass reporting", all of the AR's against the same user get grouped together as single Abuse Report in the tool that the Governance Team uses.

Mass reporting does not, in any way, affect how the Governance Team does their job.  This is not a popularity contest and the Governance Team does not look at the number of reports filed against a user and think "oh, a lot of people are reporting this, it must be true".

The Governance Team will not action an account without proof.

Having a couple of reports from different reporters can help the Governance Team determine what the user is being reported for and what to look for in their investigation.

The reason why 99% of all appeals fail is because the Governance Team was extremely thorough in their report and documented proof of the violation.

Thank you for that very thourough explanation of how abuse reports work.

Sometimes on my parcel, I can be a little laxed in how I file reports, just because I am not sure anything ever really is done about it, but this is helpful.

What is the best way to file a report against someone, @Dakota Linden?

Usually I kick and ban them before reporting, and it’s not like we can record their actions.

If they IMed or sent something local chat, those messages are in the screen shot.  Beyond that, I am not sure what else can be done.

Hello, I was at a VooDoo Sploder event.   When I received the message that I had been paid $5L,  I INSTEAD was CHARGED 25L.   Before the sploder ended, my account balance was L331.  And, immediately when I received the message that I was paid, my balance went to L306.

Any time money is taken from your account, you have to authorize it or give permissions to an object to take L$ as needed.

I would never accept that dialog that an object could take L$ whenever they feel like, no matter “how repuatable” they seem.

I'm not sure if this is the right section to ask.

I got a job as estate manager and at first the owner agreed to pay me 1.5k per week. A few days later he suddenly kicked me out of the group. Only after I asked what's going on did he tell me that he could not afford 1.5k. We agreed to go at 500 per week. Yesterday he kicked me out of the group again without explaination. When I asked him, he said "dont message me" and blocked me. In the end after working for a couple of weeks, I didn't receive any kind of payment.

My question is, can I report this kind of problem to LL? When I tried to report his account, I could not put details and proofs because of the limited space in the report box. How else can I report it?

@NrlHnh, I wished there was a better answer, but no.  Everything is “buyer beware” when it comes to any transaction in SecondLife.

There really isn’t a good answer, and fighting back is more likely going to have an adverse reaction towards you, even if you were the one wronged.

The problem is the business model in SecondLife is very prone to scams.  Once someone gets a bad name, they can always make a new alt and start scamming again.

I've been playing SL since 2005. I'm a heavy roleplayer and enjoy the theme Medieval Fantasy.

I recently ran into an individual that I don't even know who not only added my account name to his picks under some DO NOT RP WITH/BAN LIST but he added my alt name as well, that I know for a fact I never told him about. I do not know who this person is, or why they added me to this list, but I see it as an indirect way to harass me and the others he had added to his picks as well. I do not talk to him (Except recently when I asked him to take my name off.) I didn't get a response, and all he ended up doing was adding to his pick with a statement like. "Telling me to your name down, isn't going to make me take it down, deal with it." First off, I didn't tell him, I asked nicely. I don't like conflict, but I fear people are going to see that, and just avoid me.

Is there anything I can do about this issue?

With any harassing @Beauty Appletor, it is known to pass and is never pleasant at the time.  It is likely someone else’s alt that knew your alt or just a lucky guesser.

Enjoy your SecondLife, you’ve been around long enough to know there are people who are just out to harm others.

Another way to make your experience more enjoyable is to talk to the sim owners of your role playing sims.  Tell them what is happening, and if you have a good enough name, they may ban that person for you, or at least get a serious set of eyes on them.

Someone that I have blocked and along with many of this person's alt's keep sending me 1L almost everyday. Is there a way to stop this person. I don't want to interact with this person but this person won't leave me alone.

Is there anything I can do besides blocking and reporting him. I might also add this person told me to kill myself.

@Glory Silverweb, this unfortunately happens far too often in SL, people just stalking or harassing others.  They honestly need to get a life.

I am really sorry you had to go through this.

Reporting with a screenshot of the IM is one way, but Linden Labs doesn’t really do much about this from my experience.

If he is sending you L$1000 at a time, there’s a strong possibility that there is a credit card associated with the account.  If he has made threats to your life or encouraged suicide, then they can track him to the card, among other things.

One time, I opened a support ticket for a stalker and had a mountain of evidence that was submitted with it.  I also added in the ticket that my business was on the line.

Unexplainably in a few days, the stalker stopped.  I don’t know if his going away had anything to do with the ticket, but it was quite a coincidence.

At the end of the day, if you don’t give a selfish or pushy person what they want, eventually they will go away.

  20. @001kittkatt001, there is a chat history file for every person who ever messages you on your hard drive, and aren’t saved anywhere else.

There are settings to control this as well as local chat.

If you change computers, your chat logs won’t come with you.  If you delete these chat files, they are gone forever.

You can go to your conversation log and see if their message is there.
