  1. by the way ... is this post related to yours? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Art-Music-and-Photography/Graphic-Design-Artist/td-p/1768237
  2. Hi Gallery Owners, Not sure if anyone is interested but I have some 3D art that needs a home. If you have a gallery that needs 3D art installations just get in touch. I know everyone has their own take on these things, but I like to consider these works to be of a reasonable/high quality. Happy to show you so you can decide. I am not precious, so if you say "no" i won't cry :) Please send Note Card as I get capped. Cheers, Carmsie
  3. Daydream Island is pretty. There have been modelling shoots on the sim in the past. It has forest/jungle, beach, sky, a formal "hedged" garden (I'll call French) and a gr8 underwater spot with animated octypus, fish, etc. No desert but u cant have everything . You'll need to explore the whole sim to find the various locations. There's a TP board that takes you to some of the best spots, but not all the good ones are covered that way - so walk or fly around too. Don't have slurl on me ... so just search "Daydream Island". Cheers, Carmsie
  4. Thanks for all the replies .. i guess this info is simply not "out there" and even if it was it could be unreliable. pity - it would be interesting to know. In terms of Aussie internet pricing. things have advanced. I have 24/7 Telstra internet access for a reasonable (although not cheap) monthly fee.
  5. Hi there, I'm an Aussie and read online somewhere that only 3000 Australians are in SL. That seems a very low head-count so I'd like to check the accuracy of the figure. I wonder if there is reliable data somewhere that I can refer to. I am sure people from other countries would be interested to know how many of their citizens are in SL too. Cheers, C

  8. Thanks to all who contacted me. I have a scripter now wotking on this project now
  9. It's hard when new Purple (cute name by the way). I remember those early days - now i am an SL addict. Don't worry we ALL felt as you do whe we started. It's worth hanging in there though, because SL can be LOTS of fun! If i were you I would log into SL and use the "search" button on the screen (hover over all those confusing buttons until one tells you it is search). In search look up Noob, Newbie or Newb under places. There are MANY locations designed just to help people like you. Click on one of the places listed that talk about helping newbies and when the land mark pops up on your screen, click it. It will instantly transport you there! There are also places to go to that show you how to dance, build and much more. To chat to people, type in the chat box on the bottom of your screen and click enter on your key board. Don't get too freaked out ... you'll soon get the hang of it and make friends, you'll see One helpful hint .... if an avatar (vampire) requests to bite you it's best to say no ... you can always become a vampire later if you want to ... when you understand SL a little better. In fact you can become just about anything you want to be! Good luck and welcome to Second Life
  10. Hi there, I have made a 3D artwork. I have a script in one part to play 3 x 10 second wav sounds in order (looped). I have other scripts used in 6 parts of the build to rotate single sculpts and link sets. What i was hoping to add was: * a key that rotates a little (with wind up sound i will supply) when anyone touches it, and * that the key (after turning) activates the rotations and sounds I noted above. I'd like the rotations and sound to run for a set period or, perhaps, while the avi who touched the key remains close by or if they touch the key again for "off". Firstly, is this possible to do? If so, is there is anyone with experience out there who'd be interested in helping me create this script? I'd love to hear from you - in-world note card best as I get capped. Obviously, I'll pay a reasonable fee for service. Apologies in advance if (yet again) I have posted in the wrong spot. I get confused about where things should go. Cheers, Carmsie
  11. Lusus Saule wrote: Thanks Charlotte and Alexi for your help and advice, but I think I have finally managed to find a solution to the problem. The cause seems to be something to do with Windows 7, so this is what I did: First I opened the task manager (Crtl- Alt- Del). Then I right clicked on Second Life under Processes. I then clicked on Properties. Then under the Compatibility tab I set SL to run in compatibility mode For Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Press OK, close the task manager and you should be ready to start saving pics! Lusus .. i toss rose petals at your feet! tytyty ... you fixed my photo problem that had been driving me crazy! Using the XP option fixed the upload and download issues i was having! many, many thanks!
  12. thanks for this ... i resized item and primmage now lower.
  13. Thanks for the reply. I personally have full perm for all the elements in this build but I reset them to sell to others. A question - how do I protect the script/textures inside from being passed on or sold to others? The table cloth is a mod/cop/no trans item. With what you are saying, the sculpt's contents would need to be set to full perm or no mod/copy/trans. Is this correct? Sorry, I am confused. Ry0ta Exonar wrote: Make sure you have transfer permission to all the components (sculpty, script, textures etc). I think that message usually means you (not the next owner) don't have transfer permission on one or more of the items.
  14. Hi there, I have made a table cloth with a texture change on touch script. I set the sculpted table cloth itself to copy/mod/no trans. I also set the textures and the script inside the table cloth with the same permissions. SL's merchant outbox won't accept it because, as it tells me, "one or more of the items is no transfer". I have checked everything and the permissions for the texture, script and sculpt are as noted above. I thought setting the contents this way was the right thing to do. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone help, please? Thanks, C
  15. Thanks! Qie Niangao wrote: Congratulations! I'll make a little suggestion here. I'm guessing that your script uses llSay(0, "..."). The problem is, that will spam local chat for others, too, so everybody in the vicinity sees the greetings for every arrival. In the old days (and in most scripts you'll find lying around libraries of open source scripts), that was solved with llInstantMessage(llDetectedKey(0), "..."), but we have a newer, more efficient function now, which you'd use as llRegionSayTo(llDetectedKey(0), 0, "..."). woohoo ... scripting is FUN! lemme go try it
  16. Hi again Innula, I tried your suggested script with no confidence whatsoever and knowing I would mess it up. And ... I am sooo excited ... it worked! Thanks a squillion! I have my talking door mat and i feel like a bit of a genious ... my FIRST ever script! wooohooo! wonderful to get this kind of support in SL ... so grateful ) C Innula Zenovka wrote: The sample script in the wiki article on the collision_start event would be a good starting point, to my mind. Simply change the text to something more suitable. If you wanted to personalise your greeting, you might use something like, "Hello, "+llGetDisplayName(llDetectedKey(0))

Problem is i have nooooo idea how to script anything. I really need a ready made one to plop into the door mat. (And yes, i know i should learn scripting ... it's on my very, very long SL To-Do list ... i promise!)
  18. Vegro Solari wrote: OK! Then we could go like this: default{ state_entry() { llPreloadSound("Sound1"); llPreloadSound("Sound2"); llPreloadSound("Sound3"); llPreloadSound("Sound4"); } touch_start(integer detected) { llSetSoundQueueing(TRUE); llPlaySound("Sound1", 1.0); llPlaySound("Sound2", 1.0); // By the time it gets here, S1 is playing and S2 is queued waiting to start. // Let's put a pause in here before the last two sounds get queued // If Sound1 and Sound2 are both 10sec, then we need a pause of about 20 secs, whilst they're playing llSleep(19.0); //Waiting done, queue the last two sounds... // S2 is just finishing playing, so we can queue up the next one llPlaySound("Sound3", 1.0); llSleep(9.0); llPlaySound("Sound4", 1.0); }} Sheesh ... i paid for one of these scripts! it pays to look here in advance, huh?
  19. Hi there, Anyone know of a 'local chat message on collision' script ? I want to put one in a door mat, so when people step on it as they come in through the door they see a text message in local chat. It needs to be editable and have a medium amount of characters available, meaning not just one short line of text. Full perms preferred but not manditory. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks, C
  20. Ohhhh ... tyvm for the reply! really appreciated and thanks to Dora for the script. *Runzzzz to grab it and set it up*
  21. Hi there, I have a TP set up from my store to a sky box and another from the skybox back to the store. The sky box is only about 200m above the store. I have tried several TP scripts and most work when I am wearing an old viewer (Pheonix etc) but I cannot find one that works with newer viewers - Firestorm or SL V3. I want a script that immediately zaps you to the location when you select "Teleport", not one that relies on clicking maps or anything else. When i wear a recent viewer, the same TP script that works perfectly with the older viewers, leaves me "hanging" in the air or takes me part of the way to the sky box and then I drop to the ground. I tried wearing a flight feather but it made no difference. Is there something I have set up wrong in my viewer Preferences or do I need a special script? I really need to get this TP set up correctly because the skybox is for sale and customers want to be able to see it. The skybox contains mesh items so most who visit will wear a recent viewer. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
  22. Hi there, I am very confused about Land Impact (LI). In the following link you'll see an item for sale on Marketplace that has a prim count of 1 but an LI of 40, as outlined in the product description. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/MOST-POPULAR-Realistic-Horror-Girl/3931289 What happens if I use this in a build or place it on my land? Will it suck up 1 prim or 40 prims? What's the difference? Can anyone give me a simple explanation? Thanks
