  1. make sure you rez the box, right click the box, and choose OPEN. not everything comes with an automatic unpacker. if you just wore it and clicked it and nothing happened... yes, i have to say this, cuz something similar happened with one of my old boxed items. (if this doesn't apply to you, then nevermind!)
  2. so i'm tinkering with this full perm helicopter script. it banks when it turns, but when it flies straight forward/back, it flies level. unlike a real helicopter, which has to tilt forward to fly forward, etc. so i thought i'd make it tilt forward as it flew. is that not actually possible with VEHICLE_TYPE_AIRPLANE? i tired this: rotation rot = llEuler2Rot(<0., throttle*15., 0.>*DEG_TO_RAD); //--local rot is your rotation * global rotation (llGetRot) llSetRot(rot * llGetRot()); which had zero effect on the object's rotation, whether the throttle was 0, 1, 2, etc. then i tried this, which honestly i have no idea what it is (the wiki page wasn't very forthcoming): https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetVehicleRotationParam llSetVehicleRotationParam( VEHICLE_REFERENCE_FRAME, rot * llGetRootRotation()); though the wiki page says to use rot / llGetRootRotation, which i don't understand. i THINK (judging by how the helicopter behaves while i'm running this command) that it only changes the object's local axis coordinate system, somehow. if it CAN set the vehicle's reference frame so that 'forward' is 15 degrees up from where it used to be, while the actual object is tilted 15 degrees down... that would be what i want, i think? oh, i guess this changes the imaginary reference frame of the object, but not the object itself. well, trying to do both resulted in the same stupid as before. reference frame changed, helicopter didn't rotate.
  3. that's an interesting passtime, harmony! you can busk in london city? ::taking notes:: do you play an instrument? do you have to 'really' perform (sing/play) or is scripted performance okay? ::digging out my 'we will rock you' bagpipes...:: hahhaha, rob! i do that too. sometimes. ;D i did try out the GTFO. i like it! wee wonders put out a free dinkie heckicopter, and i edited it and the scripts... well, i still have to use a messenger bag and the free trial hud so far, but... in an aircraft, the danger of crashing is kinda realistic. though actually, i haven't crashed the client. been hit by some no-object-entry parcels and one zero-warning security orb. but by and large, it's gone well! it's a bit like sid meier's pirates of the carribean, or uncharted waters online. but the thing i liked in those games (besides learning a LOT of geography), was you could pick up goods in one port and then find the best other port to sell them for the best profit. gtfo is a little more simplistic in that respect, but still... you need some orienteering skills, map-reading, predicting if a fancy home has a security orb, PLUS the skill to land the chopper. i juiced up the heckicopter speed, but it still travels fairly slowly, enough to have some text convo with my copilot. very enjoyable. keep 'em coming, guys! we need more variety of entertainment!
  4. i've recently become a fan of valiant furry wrestling org. that holds events wednesday nights at 6pm, and saturday nights at 7pm. i was never impressed with SL wrestling; it all went very slowly (at least, the matches i saw, years ago). but valiant is a very professional. the commentators are top notch, and the production is insane. every wrestler has their own theme song and custom music video intro that plays on the big screen when they enter. the players really get into character when addressing the audience or each other. and the weekly videos are well-edited. i have not been this impressed in second life since... well, since the trans siberian orchestra tribute show. valiant on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpNRFPUCwx-8Bkdn1yrAppQ/videos
  5. ::waves at garnet:: ;D oh, i thought i was the only one who keeps buying new avatars, modding them up, and then... um... almost never wearing them again :X (besides bloggers who take photos and make money from doing that.) didn't think 'avatar addiction' was a passtime... but okay...! yeah, kinda like star stable where you ride horsies and play dress-up. i really don't like grindy games. like farming and stuff maybe because of my time in the ancient neverwinter nights servers. omg... kill 500 deer. to get 200 pelts... to make 50 leather scraps... to make one really sucky piece of armor. JUST so you can level up and do twice as much for a higher level sucky piece of armor. not fun. neither is killing the same things over and over and over to get another character level. i didn't think i'd like the freight thing either, but.... hmm... mayyyyyyyyybe? i DO like sid meier's pirates, and uncharted waters online. sailing around buying cargo here, selling for a profit there. kinda never thought about doing those in SL, though. i mean... a 'real' game made for that looks and works a lot better, i think. there's a group in SL for escape rooms called Second Escape. i didn't get to try their exhibit at SL19B... and i haven't gotten any notices from them yet about new escape rooms to try. but that should be fun. i also saw at SL19B there's a realistic scuba-diving setup you can learn. unfortunately, if i took a landmark for that, i've lost it, and i don't remember the exact name to find it. but that sounds like fun. there's the Studio Dire | Tabletop Community, for DnD style games. i never got into all those stats and dice and things, but i did used to play with a DM who did all that for me... finding another good, solid, long-term RP game like that could be fun. but i have only seen one game looking for players on their bulletin board. so i dont know when (or if!?) anyone goes there. as for Real Time RP... i've been kicking around this idea to just have a... a sort of 'callahan's crosstime saloon' deal. where anyone can host (or rez?) a saloon/bar/cafe, where anyone from any 'verse can come in and freeform RP. sorta like back in the ancient days of qlink's red dragon inn. because i'm not rich, and i can't afford a whole sim. (and don't have time to decorate it, etc.) and i don't have a lot of time to put into it. but some random zaniness would be a whole lotta fun, i think. if anybody wants to try to get together in a sorta loose conglomerate (or if you got time and want to organize it a bit more) like that... let me know. maybe we can have a thread on the new rp forum for it? maybe we can FINALLY find other non para-RPers. (i've seen one or two around!)
  6. as intimated before (not that anyone notices)... i have become disenchanted with SL as a place to have fun. what's something ACTUALLY fun, that you do? some activities. especially where you get to hang out and chat with people. i have a couple... Racing: RacerX Gullwing runs weekly races-- Fridays 3:30pm the "anything goes race" (wear any avatar.) Saturdays 11:30am the Giant Snail Races (wear a giant snail avatar to compete) spectators always welcome, at both! ... i like racing, but most often the person who wins is the one with the fastest computer/connection. Trail Rides: Belissaria Riding Club and Rosehaven Riding Club are two that have weekly events. a big group of people (usually on teeglepet horses, but any mounts are allowed) follow someone along a riding trail. ...i like horseback riding, but the highlight of these is counting how many times you lag and crash at the sim crossings. Sailing: my friend belongs to a sailing club. every sunday at 1pm they travel a specific route. technically not a 'race.' :X ...this could be fun, but it's also a sim-crossing lag- and crash-fest. Geek Speak: Saturdays at Noon. There's an actual intellectual discussion on a new topic every week. ...no complaints, i actually like this one i'm not interested in sex. and i'm not interested in my avatar animating while someone plays music and everyone else stands/dances around and doesn't have any conversation. same thing with fishing contests, too. people stand around autofishing. and that's it i like roleplay, but i don't like the prevalence of 'para' (for paragraph) role play that's all over SL. i really think that form is better suited to forum-based roleplay. and the kind of 'real-time' rp that i like really ISN'T compatible with para-rp.
  7. am i the only one tired of trying to work with kludges to make stuff work in second life, and really wish "sl2" would get here already? i would love to have a world that looks like some modern games (like red dead redemption 2), but that people can build in, and import avatars and animations etc etc into. and not lag and crash whenever trying to have an event more strenuous than a bunch of people dancing in place. ::sigh:: but yeah, most people i mention this to tell me that nobody wants to leave SL. and their giant inventory. (oh, and friends/communities.)
  8. so i need some friends.... and i want to look for friends... and talk with people... but i actually suuuuuuuuck at it. you seem really cool, but i dunno if i'm cool enough for you. so... hmm. about me: age: n/a pronouns: don't care shy/socially awkward/introverted, aspie, asexual, nonverbal. i used to have depression, but i have been a lot better lately. i still have self-esteem issues. totally get the snarkiness as a defense mechanism, i use that, too. writer/artist. general all-around creative. intellectual. love animals. not so much humans. i mostly hang out with nonhumans: tinies, dinkies, furries, ferals, dragons. i'm a shape-shifter and avatar junkie. i used to be into anime, but not so much any more. i do like the style, though. i'm a casual gamer. trying to get more into 'goose goose duck' (an among us clone). i play rocket league (rank: casual). i like freeform role playing games, but i don't care for 'para RPing,' except on forums, maybe. when i'm in SL, i'm mostly working. i make a lot of stuff. not as much as i have ideas for, but... i like racing and horse riding. sometimes i ride my motorcycles along the old giant snail RFL mainland routes. otherwise, i don't have much fun in SL oh yeah, i suck with memory, too (ESPECIALLY names!) if you (or anybody interested who happens by) want to IM me... make sure you mention you're from the forum post, here, or... well, i'm generally anti-social. yeah... gotta work on that, i guess. if i'm online early in the SL day (before noon), yeah, i'm working on something. i have free time in the late afternoon/early evening. except on fridays and saturdays.
  9. i don't think any 'how to buy X BRAND items' belongs in ANY SL University tutorial. how can that NOT be merchant favoritism? i don't even make human avatars (and barely wear any), and i was shocked and appalled.
  10. well, as fate would have it... i'm now hosting a sunday night event, 4-6pm SLT at Cheers Bar. it is a Sussy Sunday Gamer Watch Party, where we hang out and watch Valkyrae's stream, where they're usually playing Among Us at that time. everybody welcome (except child avatars. but dinkie/tiny/furry/etc are fine.) some world majors/championships are coming up for rocket league, too... trying to figure out how to make that an event.
  11. i just heard about these tonight: Arboreal Alligator Lizards https://duckduckgo.com/?q=arboreal+alligator+lizard&iax=images&ia=images they're so cute! would love to see a pet (and/or avatar) of them!
  12. me again, with a more narrowed-down idea of what i'm thinking of... interested in hanging out with gamers (though i'm sure hardcore gamers don't 'play' second life). casual gamers. i play rocket league (my rank is 'casual'!), super auto pets... i dont play too many multiplayer games, since i have no gamer friends but i'd like to try more! i'm also thinking it would be fun to get together in-world and watch valkyrae's "sussy sunday" live stream, and watch the gang play 'among us.' we could chat about the players, make jokes/comments, try to guess who is what role, etc. (i don't have a venue for this yet, though. i was also thinking it would be awesome to find a 'sports bar' in SL that shows (or has an event during) the Rocket League playoffs. why spam twitch chat that has 20k concurrent viewers, when you can hang out in an sl bar, yelling and cheering with some buds? i prefer to hang out with non-humans. or at least open and welcoming societies. hmm... i see some groups i can check out, too...
  13. well... when i go to an event... nobody is (text) talking. so... i THOUGHT that meant they were all on voice? many classes and horse events are over voice. and i didn't really want to go to a dance club or listen to a dj. when i go to those, some people are like 'hi, how are you?' and then maybe make a sporadic comment about one of their friend's... something humorous, i dunno. their dog. their boat. their clothes. their lag mishaps. but people go there to dance and listen to music. and im people, i guess? i'm looking for a CHAT hangout. though if there's a dj, i guess that means they don't want people talking over the music. hmm. i'll look into shenanigans. thanks, lyndka!
  14. heyas, guys! looking to hang out with some other weirdoes, but i'm verbally handicapped and i don't have voice. and it seems everybody is on voice these days not sure exactly how to describe the vibe i'm looking for. i'm weird. non-human. i like sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comedy (and fanfic, i confess). i like intellectual topics, philosophical-ish... and i guess mostly i just want to talk about my crazy artistic days, my existential crises, and funny anecdotes, with some people who are genuinely interested. i know nobody's gonna be interested without meeting me and knowing me first, but... that's kinda the general direction i want to go. i'm ace, so no 'romantic' stuff. or adult stuff. or, basically, is there anybody/anyplace not on voice? that i could check out? thanks
  15. i love being a dinkie! ALL MY CLOTHES JUST FIT! (not to be negative on THIS thread, but in comparison, i have two 'offbrand' male human avatars (meta neo and mr poet sigurd), and trying to dress them with clothes that don't clip their skin and other clothing is a nightmare.)
  16. i can see a (rather LONG, compared to my personal L transaction history) history of my marketplace sales... but is there somewhere/somehow i can see a list of redeliveries requested by people that have bought things?
  17. thanks for looking, vic! they do gift cards, but it's numeric value ones. yeah, those discounts are for the entire vendor, or group discounts, or having a sale discount. MAYBE all i really need is a product updater service. so Customer would buy the box from the vendor i have (or marketplace, even). it would have a no-copy 25% off coupon inside. in the update server, i could put version updates, and THOSE boxes wouldn't include the %-off coupon. the only thing is, that doesn't really do a flat re-delivery, like 'give me the same version i already have.' maybe i can find one that does... SO! can anybody recommend a good updating script/service? (wait, does casper's only work in tandem with caspervend? i should check into that.) OH! Casper Update CAN be run as a standalone service. Awesome!
  18. i make avatars. here's what i want to do: i want to give everyone who buys an avatar a 25% discount card. the card can be used to purchase add-ons (like an action hud), or an upgrade from a basic avatar to a deluxe version, or on another avatar. i want the cards to be able to be combined, so once a person collects 4 25% cards, they can combine them into one 100% card and get a free item. i have a vendor that does this (ONSC), but it doesn't support redelivery or updates (and the maker is no longer in second life, so support for it is non-existent, should it be needed). it's also a bit of a pain to have the no-copy discount card in the box with all the copy-mod stuff. i also understand that casper once said he would "never" do percent-off discount cards. only specific-value cards. but i don't want to do that. i want the 100L add-on to cost 75L and the 1000L avatar to cost 750L (for example). so here's my first question-- CAN caspervend be set up to mimic what i want it to do? i know that it can "deliver a second item" (like my mythical discount card), so that i don't have to put a no-copy card in the copy/mod box... i know it can set items to have a discounted price for people who have purchased "X" other product. so i guess i could set all the add-ons to be 25% off price for anyone who bought the avatar the add-on goes to? (but... they wouldn't buy the add-on otherwise. and i only want the discount to be a one-time discount.) ...i'm thinking no. or it would be WAY too convoluted. my second question-- is there an alternative to caspervend that can do this? issue %-off discount cards, combine those cards up to 100%, and support updates/redelivery?
  19. yeah, it hit me this morning. missing 'return;' thanks, guys!
  20. heyas, guys! i'm doing a biped/quad swapping AO, and i'm using 2 notecards... the biped and the quad. so i'm reading first one, then the other. it's all good, except when it switches to the 2nd notecard, line 0 always returns... actually, i'm not sure, but this is what the debug says (the period at the end is a string added to the end of the notecard line report): i couldnt find this by matching three spaces to index 0, so it could be tabs or something? i dunno. it doesn't really matter, it's clearly borked. it looks like something stuck in its craw from the end of file of notecard 1? but i couldn't find a way to clear it. it's definitely NOT reading line 0 of notecard 2 at all. it just skips to line 1. okay, so the code. you may recognize this from the franimation/zhao/tao2 animation overriders. my loadNotecard() function: loadNoteCard() { if(0 == MODE) Notecard = NCb; else if (1 == MODE) Notecard = NCq; else { llOwnerSay("Error: exceeded number of notecards to read."); return; } if ( llGetInventoryKey(Notecard) == NULL_KEY ) { llOwnerSay( "Notecard '" + Notecard + "' does not exist, or does not have full permissions. "); return; } llOwnerSay( "Loading notecard '" + Notecard + "'. Please wait...." ); // Faster events while processing our notecard llMinEventDelay( 0.0 ); // Start reading the data notecardIndex = 0; notecardLineKey = llGetNotecardLine( Notecard, notecardIndex ); } the mondo data server event: dataserver( key _query_id, string _data ) { if ( _query_id != notecardLineKey ) { //--just leave it, it might be for another script. just not us. move along. // llOwnerSay( "Error in reading notecard. Please try again." ); return; } if ( _data == EOF || _data == "---END---") { // Now the read ends when we hit EOF llOwnerSay( "Finished reading notecard '" + Notecard + "'." ); MODE++; if(MODE <= 1) loadNoteCard(); else //--done with both cards { MODE = 0; //--start biped state running; } } // We ignore blank lines and lines which start with a # if (( _data == EMPTY ) || ( llGetSubString(_data, 0, 0) == "#" )) { notecardLineKey = llGetNotecardLine( Notecard, ++notecardIndex ); return; } // Check for a valid token integer i; integer found = FALSE; for ( i=0; i<numOverrides; i++ ) { string token = llList2String( tokens, i ); // We have some blank entries in 'tokens' to get it to line up with animState... make // sure we don't match on a blank. if (( token != EMPTY ) && ( llGetSubString( _data, 0, llStringLength(token) - 1 ) == token )) { // We found a token on this line, so we don't have to throw an error or keep // trying to match tokens found = TRUE; // Make sure the line has data after the token, or our sub-string calculation goes off if ( _data != token ) { string animPart = llGetSubString( _data, llStringLength(token), -1 ); //DW //-- but FIRST! is it the ground sit list? if(0 == i) //--0 is ground sit index { //--this is only ever what's on that notecard line. no adding. no merging. just it. Gsits = llParseString2List(animPart, [SEPARATOR], []); nGsits = llGetListLength(Gsits); integer j; for ( j=0; j<nGsits; j++ ) { checkAnimInInventory( llList2String(Gsits,j) ); } llOwnerSay((string)nGsits+" Ground Sits registered."); jump done; //--can we return here? i hope. no wait... } // See if this is a token for which we allow multiple animations else if ( llListFindList( multiAnimTokenIndexes, [i] ) != -1 ) { list anims2Add = llParseString2List(animPart, [SEPARATOR], [] ); // Make sure the anims exist integer j; for ( j=0; j<llGetListLength(anims2Add); j++ ) {//llOwnerSay("checking anim #"+(string)j); checkAnimInInventory( llList2String(anims2Add,j) ); } addToOverride(i, anims2Add); } else { // This is an animation for which we only allow one override if ( llSubStringIndex( animPart, SEPARATOR ) != -1 ) { llOwnerSay( "Cannot have multiple entries for " + token + ". If you are trying to play multiple animations at once, separate them with commas."); return; } // Inventory check checkAnimInInventory( animPart ); // We're good addToOverride(i, [animPart]); } // End if-else for multi-anim vs. single-anim } // End if line has more than just a token // Break, no need to continue the search loop jump done; } // End if token matched } // End search for tokens @done; if ( !found ) { llOwnerSay( "Could not recognize token on line " + (string)notecardIndex + ": " + _data + ". "); // return; //--jump down anyway } // Wow, after all that, we read one line of the notecard notecardLineKey = llGetNotecardLine( Notecard, ++notecardIndex ); return; }
  21. "If destination is an avatar they do not have to be in the same region." well, you learn something new every day! thanks, quistess!!
  22. the one(s) i want dont just accept notecards, they send it to multiple avatars. i mean, *I* could make a box that accepts notecards, that's not tricky. it's the sending inventory to avatars that... might not be online? might be in other regions? (DO they do that? or am i just imagining they do that when they say 'send to multiple avatars'?) i don't want to get an object IM, i don't want to get an email. my problem is losing IMs, and never reading my email, not logging into my alts often enough... :X and losing notecards people throw at me or my alts. thanks for the input, guys!
  23. heyas; i want a mailbox to accept notecards, and then send them to selected avatars (ie: me and my alts). i found a couple on the marketplace, BUT... many don't have reviews later than 2017. and i KNOW that the http-message-something script fiasco broke a lot of stuff, possibly mailboxes, just recently. does anybody know of any modern, functioning ones? thanks a tonne!
