Sooooo -- I was talking to a friend who makes clothes among other things and mentioned the improvements made in the hopefully now official version. She mentioned the horrible agreement needed to be able to make SENRA clothing.  I had forgotten ALL about that.  Likely along with the hard to work with and less than exciting first roll-out, that nasty legalize stopped a lot of creators. I just started reading it and left the page.

It will be interesting to see if there is any interest in the SENRA section mentioned for February's Shop and Hop.  I read somewhere (think it was official but maybe someone can remember and source the idea that LL will be making more clothing and accessories themselves for SENRA.   If that agreement isn't toned down (assuming people read it and actually plan to do what the signed to do) then  that may be the way SENRA goes.

Even so, a much better start for new folks than in the past.  Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

If I understand well what Patch Linden has answered below, designers who do Senra content only to sale them in their stores won't have to have them inspected by Linden. In a way, I think it's only fair that Linden should inspect the content they put in all residents' libraries, because then they're liable if anything goes wrong.

"3.5 Inspection and Review. Upon completion of each Avatar Item, Licensee shall submit such Avatar Item to Linden Lab (in such form and format as Linden Lab may require) for review and approval upon Linden Lab’s request. Licensee shall fully cooperate with Linden Lab in the course of such review and approval, providing to Linden Lab such information and assistance as Linden Lab deems desirable."

I see that more as a precaution so people don't break the following rule :

3.4 Creation of Avatar Items. Licensee hereby agrees that: A. The quality and subject matter for all Avatar Items shall fully conform to the requirements of the SDK Materials; and B. The Avatar Items shall be original works of authorship, created solely by Licensee, and shall not infringe or misappropriate the rights of any third party.

For me they tell that they have the possibility to check if you follow this rule, not that they will do it all the time. They don't want to have their name associated to a designer who would break some copyright on its creations.

Also note that many creators don't want to create for the Senra bodies due to the Draconian LL licensing agreement terms.

Could you quote some of the licensing agreements you find draconian ? I've read them and don't find them more draconian that Maitreya licensing agreement terms, for example .

    Hello everyone,

I have a doubt and I hope that someone can help me with that since I could find nothing about it.

I know that you can change your name with a fee but I do not know what effects it has in the end.

*-Will I loose my friends and will they be able to contact me and see me as before? I do not want to loose that.

    Thank you all,

You should have some answers here :

You may have Voice gestures activated for another head or avatar that are interfering. Make sure the only Voice gestures you have active are for the av you're using.

This was that. There was a lot of gestures activated in my inventory, and after deactivated all, the problem was gone. Thank you :)

  6. If I understand well, the problem is to launch Firestorm after a new installation ? On my side, I right click/select Open in the finder. The first time, I get a message telling me to trash the app, since it comes from an unidentified developer. The second time, I get the same option, but I also get the option to open the app with a warning regarding the risk of opening an app from an unidentified developer. After that, everything runs fine.

  7. I think I've found the source of the problem. Since September 30th Let's encrypt root certificate has expired. Newer systems are not affected by this problem since their certificates have been updated, but older ones like Mac OS 10.12 are. I'm going to upgrade this computer to Mojave, it should solve the issue. You can have better explanations than mines on this issue here : https://tinyurl.com/yhpe9ryl and here : https://tinyurl.com/ye6uztls

  8. Tested on a Mac with Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome

    No adblocks installed

All the pictures on Marketplace are replaced by icons like you see on the screenshot. I've tried to clean the cache of Chrome without success.

What can I do to solve this problem ?

    Thank you

Apple operate a walled garden and would like a 30% cut of all the profits from those operating from within it's walls. If you're happy to pay the apple tax on top of the price of everything in SL, by all means demand SL's inclusion.

I think you're making a confusion between identified developers/signed apps and Mac App Store.  To sign an app you need to be part of the developer program (99$/year) and follow some steps indicated here to sign your app. There is no indication that you have to pay something else. The 30% you mention are paid to Apple if you sale your app with the Mac App Store which is not manadatory to be an identified developer.  Regarding Second Life official viewer, Linden explain in this article why you can get this "unidentified developer" error message and what they do to solve the problem.

All good advice posted above me, but I have one thing that needs to be added: there is a considerable difference between texture mapping on HD heads and non-HD heads.

What is the difference between HD heads and non-HD heads ?

Most of the photographers that take extraordinary screenshots -- as in the top SL magazines -- take them at VERY high resolutions, like 10,000 pixels wide and then resize. They also have top of the line computers and graphics cards. Certainly filters and adjustments come into play sometimes, but they start with stellar shots to begin with.

Which viewer do you use to get 10000 pixels wide snapshots, Firestorm doesn't allow more than 6200 pixels.

Yeah, uhm, nope.  I did that back then.  I would hardly call it a "teleport".  It was just smoke and mirrors, hiding logging out of an SL ALPHA GRID and in to OSGrid, I think it was called.  Anyway, no assets or avatar appearance attributes were carried over.  Inventory had to be expunged from the viewer and reloaded.  Sound and texture caches got corrupted and the region object cache was totally ignored.  It was a sham and a complete waste of time.

I don't remember that it was so bad, and it was not tied only to OSGrid, since I was able to teleport to my sim which was on a self hosted Opensim not linked to OSGrid.

I've found the Second life wiki about that :

    http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Grid_Public_Beta

  13. Some years ago (I don't remember exactly), Linden has made a test on the beta grid of hypergrid between second life and opensim. I've tried it myself between Second life and my self hosted Opensim. It worked quite well, but the test hasn't last very long.
