To the empty home whiners: Do you know WHY the property sits empty? What if the owner is on chemo and having that house sitting waiting for them gives them hope and a tiny measure of joy? Did you pay their premium fee? Did they unplug your modem just as the houses were released? Get a grip.

Dark green forest where you can be vampire, gothic, maudlin, heavy Victorian , fairy . Wooden beam homes , stone walls . Paths not freeways, horse carriage rezzer. Not tied to a time period just retreat rustic.

Old Linden homes- so little difference between regions, sure some had water view if you were outside ,but mainly reminded me of a parking lot at the holidays and everyone drives the same SUV. The new ones, you can get rather attached to your view, will be harder to leave. Well done.

Linden sent cakes , friend got one with the wrong name on it. After a re-rez it was fixed.

Let's try logic, maybe you only read about these houses in bloggers' blogs because , even if you furrow your brow, without a blog you can not make your words appear in front of somebody's face. Well, ok, maybe you can with Google glass but Sergey won't send me a set so I'm not sure.

Annual premium always made the best financial sense but doesn't ending the quarterly pay impact the educational users- they come in for a semester/quarter? Want one payment. These maybe people who only needed basic to do the edu project but went 'shiny!' and wanted to get more-- now - they either pay monthly- harder to hide on an expense acct or annual- too long. Again, shooting yourself in the corporate paw, these are motivated new users you are saying buh bye to.

Timing matters, doing this when so many people were really excited at the great new Linden Homes but didn't get them is like the waiter saying we're out of your ordered entree but you can buy something else for more. (They usually comp at least the increase). You should have waited until after the SL16B ,the next new model reveal AND a release of an adequate supply of them. Really adequate supply. Fee increase for cash outs, makes sense. The full region decrease won't save or sell many regions. But the big fly in the ointment of this is Second Life is a community, a world. Two decisions (this reduction in group slots for basic and the maybe dropping off line group notices going to email ) CUT RESIDENTS OFF FROM EACH OTHER AND MERCHANTS. If we can't connect, why bother logging in. Using group slots in a strong arm move to collect money is really a shot at the very heart of the --correction - YOUR business. When people leave Second Life your firm knows better than anyone how hard it is to replace them. Cutting people off from their connections is dumb, IMO. (What is the churn on groups- why not make a non land/ avatar location based Groups v2 . so that over time the legacy bandwidth hog groups will die off, even offer a way to have groups transfer to v2)

If someone wants to decorate the whole inside of their house with cats or fishes or decor from just one shop or boxes of textures, that's their choice. Now if they use one maker for the garden, again, so what - it will blend better. No sales tag = not a store, not commerce.

Yes the Jeremy Linden link above says : "First-generation themes First-generation Linden Homes have limited space and land capacity. Homes in these themes are still available for purchase, but provide less land capacity and use older-style control panels: ....." Saying these old homes are "still available" is a far cry from "unless you refresh this is the only game in town." I know we'll be awash in new homes "soon" but don't want a single person to feel this was unfair or not explained right or clearly. We need every active interested resident so that I can sell my unwanted gachas to them .

I assume the Lab legal ok'd this statement? I'm sorry if someone PAID for a level of benefits and then the company says 'be nice, give us the money but don't use the benefits" it is kind of implying the INTENT was never to supply enough homes. I didn't realize there was a list of "beyond what is expected." What behavior is "expected"? I *don't* believe that the Lab had "bad" intent , I see the empty regions waiting but statements like this do not help, in my opinion. And setting residents against each other is NOT community building. (Neither is the parcel sniffing pack of people , google doc-ing number of prims and parcel traffic--get a LIFE) As I said in another thread, yes I believe it is time for "kindness and generosity "--and it should come from the Lab. If someone bought premium when the new homes were announced , did not get one OR USE ANY LAND BENEFITS , they could get a premium credit until Linden releases a LARGE number of new homes. No cash back, just membership time extension. Don't even pay the the extra stipend, just give them the extra time to snag a new home. Who loses with this?

Think of these 2 releases as a beta, Patch said they were small releases. Long term they need to build new homes/boats to replace ALL those circa 2010 Linden homes so we'll be drowning in these houses "soon". But I do think that new premium members who signed up from the announcement until a regular size release, whatever that is, get extra month(s )of membership ** if ** they didn't use any land benefits . Like if a major delivery website blows the guaranteed date, you can request an extra month membership. That would be a "good will gesture."
