  1. *Sighs* I wish once LL would work out the bugs before releasing things like this. So I first try using the SL psuedo web viewer to see these new profiles, but then get a malicoius virus warning when I try and view a youtube video I was requested to look at. So, I switch back to use my own web browser (firefox) and when I try and look at a profile I get THIS: "No Media Plugin was found to handle the "text/html" mime type. Media of this type will be unavailable". This error message was perminantly in my lower right corner of my SL 2.5 viewer, and I had to close SL to remove it. Of course when the web page tried to open, I got a "must be logged in" error, so I couldn't see it. Apparently what I'll have to do is have it set up so I see profiles using the embedded viewer, and open and copy/paste in urls. How convenient. Just ONCE, I'd like to see LL tackle some of the more serious flaws SL has, rather than introduce pretty new features. Yet another example of the classic problem of "Designer Greeds over User Needs". If LL is looking for something to do, how about fixing the problem that's been around since V2 started; the inability to copy/paste a functioning slurl in IMs and have it be a functional link upon sending. I imagine they'll get around to this about the same time they fix the deeply flawed search system: in viewer 5.75.
  2. I kept cookies OFF because I don't like them being added without my permission. Now I see I'll be forced to keep them on to see any profiles. *sigh* While I do think this will be an improvement over the tiny windows currently being used, and if they give us greater editing rights to the layout like one can with web pages, could open up a great deal of creativity. I hope they can figure a way around the cookie requirement though...
  3. Manual deletion of cache folders is a great way to help clear things up. Actually, if I'm noticing bugs, I'll save my chat.txt in a different folder, do a complete uninstall, and then go in and manually delete all the leftover stuff the uninstall will not removed. Most often I'd do this when in the earlier V2 I could no longer Mouse Over to see someone's identity (which used to crop up with annoying irregularity ... glad that seems to be fixed!). I'm noticing textures for the newest V2 work better now that I did a manual cache folder deletion. SL has eaten or destoryed some of my items once in a great while, but my saddest losses are items that are damaged or destroyed when upgrades occur. I still miss Dante The Dark Dragon when Havok was introduced. Dante is a 109 prim dragon vehicle that could seat 4 ... now totally unlinked in flight because of the changes. Virtual items are like Sandcastle and side walk paintings, destined to not last forever ... so enjoy them while you can RIP Dante
  4. *Sighs* Graphics are indeed worse, textures I've seen perfectly for years now just won't rez using the newest V2. I'll ride it out for a bit, hoping taht they get around to fixing the obvious graphic flaws this has, at least the audio is better and the browser just doesn't lock up for no reason anymore like the last version of V2 did.
  5. Sadly, one of the main features LL still can't handle fixing is the the badly damaged search system ever since viewer 2 has come out. I filed yet another ticket a month ago and yet to receive a response. Whenever I click on SEARCH (unless I search for something specific like Music) I can only see the General categories. The ! (error statement) says, when clicked, "Oops, we can only give you general search results right now (Error: authorizatoin token missing). To reset your authorization, please close the viewer and log back in." Of course this does not work, and when I've filed 2 previous tickets, I get a response saying that I should get myself Age Verified ... which I did many months ago. The incompetance of the ability to Search SL for music events, etc. is widely known and much distainted. It would be nice for those of us who perform in SL and host events to have the means of getting the information of said events out on the grid in a way that others can find these announcements and attend the shows. While I do applaud some of the changes that V2 has brought, it is truly pathetic how much basic functionality has been compromised ... like, say the ability to Copy/Paste a slurl into chat and have it be a usable link.
  6. Ahh, ty to whoever pointed out that this extra visual noice could be turned off. I spotted that under preferences and am much happier. So much better than wasting everyone's time whining about it. I am amused to see the emotional rantings on both sides over such a trivial topic, but in the US (at least) that's how we entertain ourselves. It's much harder to work on real problems to create real practical solutions, after all. It is a shame that fundimental problems in the SL browser can't be addressed, like seing double entries for offline friends, etc. But the newer V2 does give you the right to detach windows from the right-side task bar, which goes a long way to preventing many of the problems it occures when I'm in a concert. Believe me, when you are going to change guitars, or need to access a friend/group list while running a stage show, and it kicks some of your huds off screen ... it's maddening. Now I can keep those minimized at the top and it won't mess up the screen display. A decent compromise. Pity there are not more rational people out there willing to do that.
  7. Thank you for releasing yet another useless feature while basic usability suffers. It's a good thing that Linden Labs employees are not reliant upon performance evaluations, or they would be added to the impressive unemployment statistics suffered my many of us in the US. I noticed upon trying the new browser that I can no longer sort my INV folders, blending in system ones with the ones I created. People are now often showing up as ??? (???) when I mouse over them, as opposed to giving their online name. And of course the plentiful problems that already existed go uncorrected. Well done, LL. Ty for continuing to address Designer Greeds, not User Needs.
  8. I've been in SL for 3 years, and I've learned to wait and see about improvements. It seems any time there are major changes some of my stuff is ruined, so you learn to develop a bit of a thick skin towards being optimistic. Right now, literally, I just opened an object that had 4 items in it, and only 1 has appeared in the folder it created. Perhaps the other 3 will appear, perhaps not. The problems recently with the Inventory have been impressive, and sadly it seems that they are getting worse, not better. When I glance at my Friends list and see that many of the offline names have 2 entries for the same person, I smile in amusement. There have been some noticable improvements, and Viewer 2 did impliment some good ideas that I do applaud. It only took a year or so to fix the edit window anchoring problem with the sub windows color and texture edit windows. And finally making TPs more web like, with the ability to click a back arrow ... well done sirs. I had hoped LL would address the limited and deeply flawed Search software in SL, but that seems to be a very low priority. Even with adult clearance, once I do an initial search, should I use that window to do another, I can only access General info. Sometimes I truly wonder how often those who make these decisions actually Use SL. This "back to basics" of working on User Needs, not Designer Greeds should ALWAYS be the focus.
