  1. Personally I don't find names with numbers very aesthetic, but then again I am sure there are people who don't find "Finora" to be pleasant on the eye either. Each to their own. In my limited experience most of the names with numbers I saw tended be relatively new people. Perhaps they quickly signed up making a name to try SL, tried it a bit, didn't like it and left ? My main angst with names that had numbers occurred when I was hosting. I would find myself worrying whether I should address the person by their full name even if that was "Sexybeast1969", or to shorten it to the letters only. Typically I tended to shorten it and never had anyone complain.
  2. Loren, looking at your sweater picture gave me a wonderful flashback to many years ago. I can see my son unwrapping it on Christmas morning then squealing "Mum nooo" as I pulled the sweater over his head in a vain attempt to get him to try it on Thanks for sharing
  3. Argus, that is wonderfully festive. The slippers brought a happy smile on my face. I'd be somewhat scared of a hot bulb in the wrong spot or the ever present danger of electrocuting myself but hey, one must take risks in the name of fashion

Suspiria Finucane wrote: What hopefully will happen is we can create our own mesh avatars and stop using the 10 year old system mesh for avatars. :smileyhappy: The problem as I understand it will be that clothes will have to designed for a particular mesh. Unless some new "standard" mesh becomes popular it might be difficult or impossible to find a lot of outfits for the new meshier you (sorry I could not resist using meshier in a sentence). So unless one plans to run about nekie, mesh may not be the final answer. I rather hope the Lindens might revisit the issue of a better AV mesh and create a new standard, but that might be too much to wish for.

Did you mean bytes? :smileywink: Whatever bits (or bytes) you feel should be approriately covered One does not want anything important being frost bitten or turning blue.
  7. Grrr just when I was hoping spring was around the corner, nature decides to drop 3" of lake effect snow on me today. So I was feeling sorry for myself and got out my favourite snuggly woolen winter outfit in SL. It is Woolstrapped by League. I love the frayed design, as though I have worn it for ages and ages (which is true). If you have a favourite winter outfit please post here. Or alternatively if you are sick of winter post a piccy of your spring outfit in the new thread I saw someone has created :) And a widescreen picture with my friend Frosty...

I mean, we are whackos. Why let potential new SL residents see the kind of maniacs they might have to deal with? We don't want to be responsible for scaring people away. Personally, I think people should know EXACTLY what they are in for with Second Life. lol Let them make informed choices when picking what virtual world to use. :smileywink: Burnman, I don't disagree, however the old GD forum had a few people embarked on what seemed like endless (and arcane) feuds. Keeping the worst ones in their own teensy out of the way sandbox, seems to be a decent compromise.
  9. valerie Inshan wrote: Thanks Venus, I LOVE shoes threads! :smileyhappy: I think I'll never get tired of my Viper boots by Similar Italian Footwear. I have them in many colors. What's really cool about these is that you can choose shiny on/off just by one click! I love the teensy little badge and the metal heel detailing. Just beautiful boots, ta for sharing.
  10. A few other favourites from my collection: Bloom boots by Malteil. The perfect pixie boots..... Black Latex boots by Cross. I love the shape of the heel on these and of course their shiny evilness And finally Lilith boots by Dark Eden - Xmas version. Oks I know it is not Xmas, but who can resist somethign with a bell on it ?
  11. My favourite boots are still the first pair I ever bought (long before sculpties ever appeared). Lilith boots by Dark Eden. I love their punky look and the way they seem to go with tons of different outfits
  12. Honestly I love the organic shapes of some of the new primwear and how it can really add to to an outfit. My main concern is the grey ball syndrome occurring in a PG SIM and revealing too much. So I'm always careful to select suitably modest undergarments when I know I'll be visiting such places. I have loads of sculpty boots that I love to bits, with shapes that could never be achieved using prims. But oddly my favourite boots are still the first ones I ever bought (long before scuplties were introduced). They are Lilith boots by Dark Eden and seem to go well with so many outfits it is scary. I posted a piccy of the aforementioned boots below
  13. Ohh ta for the reponse Derek. I went off and read the FAQ. I'm curious to know how they determine "appropriate posting" though...It sounds awfully labor intensive.
  14. Boy Lane wrote: Ok, back to the topic. What makes a "Honored Resident" honoured? Is it perhaps the age of an avatar when she or he made a first posting in any of the old or older forums? I would feel honoured if someone could spread some light on our awesomeness I have to admit to being curious too. Perhaps it is the old age thingy. Just for fun I went back to the old-old SL forums and dug up my AV with a join date of 2006. Perhaps people could post when they first joined to see if there is any correlation.
  15. Ohhh I liked your shiny little survey. Hope my responses helped. I was sad you had a category for furrys but none for faeries *flies off feeling slightly neglected and looking for pie
  16. I love the pink pixie look Ishtara, and such a super delicious photo. It makes me hungry for a bowl of candyfloss flavoured ice cream. *Flies off to take a new faery shaped vanity picture
  17. There is another thread here where wearing a new bald cap fixed the problem for that person. There is also this How To from the old wiki which sometimes helps SL wiki article on clouds Not always effective, but worth a try.
  18. There is this How To from the old wiki which sometimes helps SL wiki article on clouds Not always effective, but worth a try. Also you should check your connection speed is decent. Have you always been a cloud or is it a new and exciting development ?
  19. Even taking things off one at a time I have occasionally had issues with attachments behaving badly. Luckily I don't have many super multi attachment outfits I need to wear. Of course all of the above does not absolve people from the crime of wearing Linden hair under prim hair....
  20. The loss of the GD forum seems no bad thing to me. I'm sure there will be enough community chatter in the subject forums.
