I've been "Plus Size" in SL for over 11 years now and I tell you, things now are better than ever for big girls! What you want to look for, in general, are clothes using the "Omega" system. This means that with a mesh plus-sized body, you can wear an amazing collection of attractive, fashionable clothing. I suggest you get the omega applier for your body (some are built-in, some need a hud with the applier for that system installed) and then look for "omega" in MP. Get a couple of demos and learn what works. Use a little care in that some outfits will fit the "standard" sizing for mesh bodies and only have one piece that is actually Omega. Try buying a couple of inexpensive outfits next, 10-50 L and see what you think. From there, you can search out and find pretty fabulous clothes to fit your curvy body! Good Luck, ~Jenni~

Does anyone know of an available mesh head that is clearly appropriate for a plump, BBW or SSBBW system or mesh body? There have been a couple of larger female bodies availabe in the past year or so and I think they would look best with a well-fed looking face/head. I am only recently getting into mesh stuff in Sl because as a BBW, there has been very little reason to. Now that fat mesh bodies are starting to be available for purchase, I wonder if I can buy a head already designed or do I need to learn all the 3D modeling skills & Blender (not that that is a bad thing) or use the mesh head generation software I see on MP? if anyone has any insights or can offer direction, I am very eager to lean more! I have been using the profile feed for several months and then about 2 weeks ago, some pics I uploaded got "stuck" in processing and now nothing I upload shows up at all. What can I do to break the jamup and upload pictures again? Thanks, ~~~Jenni~~~

This is an ongoing question and search for a small number of SL citizens. I've had it myself for over 8 years! Making a custom avi to a certain "look" requires a fair number of skills, none of which I possess. Human avis, IMHO, are much harder to pull off than a nice fat furry and while I wonder at and admire many of the big furs I have seen, my own intrests, for the most part, are human(ish). Commercial options include: The "Chubby Body" series, by ravenoid, small and large mesh bodies & legs. Search on the Marketplace. You still need a head, either your regular avi head, which may be too small or have eye problems or a full mesh head, which I am personally still trying to figure out. A number of outfits are available as textures, as well as a couple of skins, so it's seriously a mix and match with some skills endevour, not a buy and wear sort of thing. Otherwise, search on the Marketplace for chubby, obese, plump, bbw, ssbbw. Don't use "fat".."fatpack" will fill your search. Goto Fat Club in world and look at the booth by the beach for some options, several prim "bodysuits" for a particular look by ny friend Voludo Porthos. You might even see a picture of me at one point in my "evolution" A couple of vendors make "fat" bodies using the sliders, but as others have suggested, results above a certain point get pretty funky. It's possible to combine a "fat" normal body with prim/mesh boobs for a more heavy/buxom look and then add one of the mesh butts for a serious fat hourglass look. Demos are your friend for all of the body enhancements and take your time to experiment and try different things. Just like IRL, hair, skin, jewlery, nails, makeup, shoes are all mix and match for big girls in SL. Putting it all together will require as much attention to detail as any true look in SL or RL, but the results can be pretty exciting. Have Fun!

Eve, That's a great suggestion and one I have used several times. My experience has been the same as yours and it means I can mod a skirt or something to fit me and be sucessful in wearing the clothing. Bottom line: Don't be afraid to ask (nicely!) ~Jenni~

Melita, I certainly hope so! So far, I have not found a mesh BBW shape and I bug all the BBW-designers I know every time I see them!

Muffin, I can tell you understand, and I agree with you-it is a small market. I also "get" your reasoning...I have been through the same thing and have come to similar conclusions. I must admit I have not used an alpha on my tush, so I will look into that. I'm not skilled enough to make one, so any suggestions? The goal of my post was to suggest is that we have enough BBW avi's available..how about some of that creative energy getting directed towards clothing? Finally, I, for one, would pay more for nicely made, detailed clothing designed for a bbw shape. Maybe if more designers took a look at the way "Fluffy Girl" does shapes and clothing, competition could be a good thing for everyone!

I never thought I’d say this, not in the 5 years I’ve been active in SL, but the time has come: Do a search in SLX for BBW. It’s clear we have enough BBW shapes. We don’t have enough stylish BBW clothing! Now is the time for better BBW wearable clothing and BBW oriented skins. Why clothing specifically for BBWs? Because very, very little clothing out there actually fits. The problems: Prim Skirts: a BBW’s body, hips, & bottom have a different size and shape than a skinny girl’s Even if the skirt is mod or has a script, the size increase is applied evenly and because the target body type is different, the skirt usually ends up looking like an upside-down garden planter before it even begins to fit. A “sort-of fitting skirt” coupled with no mod glitch pants (grrrrr!) makes for a lot of pale skin exposed in unusual places. I am all for showing off my creamy pale skin, but not in the middle of my skirt! Clothing details: Pants should be easy, right? They’ll fit anybody after all! Not so if they have any detail like a belt or buttons or a specific texture. As the pants stretch or get bigger to fit a larger avi, all that detail gets fuzzy, out of focus and fades away…not good! Same is true for blouses, jackets, Etc. Few designers taking advantage of prim breasts for the BBW/SSBBW avi. Prim Implants were the greatest thing for avi’s of every size and shape when they came out a couple years ago. But in all that time very very few BBW clothing designers (a very small number of a very tiny number is a really small number!) have tried to combine their sense of the BBW shape with the voluptuousness available with prim boobies. Why is that? Combining the two makes for an awesome set of possibilities for larger avi’s, where we can look like the curvey babes all the skill with the sliders and our RL mirrors at home will allow us. I buy a lot of “implant friendly” outfits just for the tops and then combine them with the small list of skirts and capris and jeans that I think look good on me. So much style wasted I could cry sometimes! Why Skins for BBWs? Simple. Our tummies are round. We mostly don’t have muscles. Our butts are round too, same as our boobs. We have rounder faces and may even have a hint or more of a double chin. Nothing on us is sculpted or sharp. Shading and coloring is a totally different as a result….. Facial details like beauty marks or moles end up just like clothing details…lost, out of focus and faded. The same is true for moles and freckles…and I like freckles! So, Designers of SL! Looking for a niche market to excel in? Want to make clothes or skins for a group who are underserved but VERY appreciative? Think about the big girls…. (Want more? Thanks for reminding me of Truth..I looked through the demos on SLX and did not see exactly what I am looking for, but Truth Hair has had what I wanted more often than not in the past, si I need to go shopping!

Jemma, Welcome to the club! Fitting clothes, nice looking clothes, to the larger avi has always been a problem. I started 5 years ago and when all 5 BBW avis in SL at the time got together, that was always one of the major topics! A couple of thoughts: Pants will always fit, but details are often lost when "painted" on our larger bodies. Capris can be nice or gauchos, especially if the flair section is mod. A pair of nice implants, appropriately sized and with the right clothing can make a lot of difference on a larger avi System skirts suck Prim boots are next to impossible to fit if you have thicker, curvy legs Prim skirts can sometimes work, depending on the design of the skirt (does it have some flair or is is really just a tube?) as well as your body contour. Wide hips can cause a lot of skirts to fail Other posters have argued the merits and issues with resizers. Sometimes they work well, sometimes not and it's hard to tell until you get into the item. 99% of the dealings I have had with designers in SL over fitting, mod rights and returns have been fantastic, better than RL! Send a notecard, be nice, ask your question or describe your problem, maybe suggest a solution and almost, almost always, the person will come through for you and help, sometimes in ways that will blow you away! Hair is easy to resize and like in RL, can make a huge difference in your appearance Jewelry can be a hassle. Earrings are easy, necklaces difficult and rings can be either. Most designers can mod an item for you to fit if they actually did the design, the shape works with enlarging and you ask nice. I have been surprised over and over by jewelry designers in SL! Everyone says it, but skin and lighting really do interact with your shape in strange ways. For the larger avi, the effects are magnified. Always try a demo, mess a bit with lighting and see how you look. Remember to toss the demo skins afterwards or you end up with 5000 skin demos and wonder how that happened...
