  1. I couldn't get the links to work because I did not see that there is a 'STOP' between "my" & secondlife.com = orders new glasses ....... And then by pasting the link for Calista mentioned above .... it works .... crazy web behaviour & big kudos for getting Profiles & these actions browser accessible = WONDERFUL !! just need to have them so they work consistently Access from our dashboards would be sensible, logical & much more functional
  2. Dartagan Shepherd says: ....... One personal peeve I'd like to ask of either LL or the community is to eliminate the "threats" and mentions of other grids. Not only are they not really threats, the bulk of users that they manage to obtain are SL users, and thus they leech off of this world at the cost of all of us. While you may be perfectly right in being unhappy with Walmart, and telling your friends they should go shop/join Sears, it's tactless and a bit impolite to those of us who are happy with Walmart and not interested in shopping at Sears. And yelling about Sears ... in the middle of Walmart, doesn't help improve Walmart, sorry to say, or spur Walmart employees and shoppers to positive action. Also, as a merchant and resident, I'm not interested in anyone stealing my SL friends and customers to tote them off to a micro clone, as visionary as that might be. These should be generating their own traction, on their own dime, with their own marketing. Also a little business tidbit, if they can't gain traction outside of SL users, it's a dud, ala Purple Jupiter couldn't manage it, even with millions in capital and some decent people who were far more experienced in related industries. You're doubling the work on merchants, the confusion with SL residents, etc. Your own dime, your own time, your own space I say to those grids, k? If you can manage that, you might actually go the distance, but you need to do that on your own, like SL did if you've got the "right stuff". TOTALLY AGREE & ENDORSE this It does seem that some people (as a total generalisation) ... rather than offering up constructive criticism or making positive contributions are determined to increase problems & expedite breakdowns PLEASE .... rather poking holes in our already leaky ship & then working on those holes to make them bigger .... start to work on plugging, patching & repairing ... & yes, sometimes major 'surgery' is needed with a concomitant need for recovery time Most of us are here because we love ... at the minimum the potential we see even the most frustrated of us ... we have stayed & try & help things improve please JOIN US If you really need to jump ship, it is understandable, but go gently & with respect for those you leave behind
  3. We didn't say that we removed them because they were not democratic - we said that we removed them because having them was not useful Ello Oz ... I commented positively on your post because it was clear & mostly made good sense however, opinions about voting may, as many things change with time & circumstance (that the Jira only allows affirmative is an obvious limitation) Having had the need to file a pjira today led me to this one >> https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-472 & the contrasting historical opinion on voting that I will quote >> " Torley Linden added a comment - 13/Aug/07 7:33 AM ....... We do welcome Resident efforts to help us fix it. Also to clarify, votes help tell us "You're affected" and want us to fix it and are one of several criteria. For example, content loss bugs, regardless of votes, need to be fixed ASAP, but votes can help draw attention or help us prioritize one issue above other when there are a multitude of "hot" ones we need to respond to quickly. Different people have different priorities, after all." I do believe that experience will show you that votes will be more effective than 'watchers' as a criterion Of course, it is the constructive & informative comments that are most valuable Be well
  4. Amanda ... I hope that I have previously positively commented on your input, if not = I do so now !! I just happened to need to file a pjira & searching if it pre-existed lead me to this... https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-472 - Region Crossings Fail - dated 27 July '07 if you can make the time to read the posts , it will surely clarify the feelings many people have expressed here & in other posts I will quote from it a partial post by Torley Linden (My Bolding) ... one of the rare good Linden communicators >> Torley Linden added a comment - 20/Aug/07 7:52 AM " ..….. Behind-the-scenes, there are many, many projects in our internal Issue Tracker which aren't shown on the public one, which focus on performance & stability aka "FIX THE GRID". I know more needs to be said about them, and we can sure do a better job of communication – so responding, stay tuned for Iridium Linden's message about this in the next Second Opinion newsletter, I am sure all of you interested on what progress we are making on that front won't want to miss it. …... We also plan to do upcoming blog posts sharing more about progress on serious issues like inventory loss (which is a priority for many). Again, to EMPHASIZE, there's a lot of work that happens within Linden Lab that we don't trumpet enough, and I'd love to see that continue to change, so for your benefit, you both are aware and can see the effects it has. (IMHO, we need more Lindens to write about what we're doing... otherwise how do you even know, right?) " So many things have been said before ... with honest intent & sincerity That this happening again is wonderful That things are seen to be getting followed thru with is what will count Be well
  5. Thank you Oz From my perspective the sort of dialogue you posted is what can help LL to realise SL's potential by encouraging positive input from stakeholders ... especially those who know the product as it is - us - the 'residents' & customers Many of whom have posted excellent & well reasoned thoughts that would be very expensive if sought from any consultancy There is often something to be learned even from those who have forgotten or never known the joy of positive & collaborative participation. I am increasingly encouraged by what I read & interpret in the blogs & forum posts over the past 4 weeks May it grow & become an effective work in progress
  6. If you can keep this up Rodvik & keep the communications & feedback response opening up like they have been with the other LL leads .... we have a whole new SL opening up !!!!!!! The expertise in SL well complements that in LL & the less cross purposes the better for all. /me huggz my very warm & fuzzy hopeful feelings & anyone else who doesn't mind a gratuitous hug THANK YOU !!
  7. A VERY big welcome inworld Rodvik & your alts & to you Rod into this amazing world with virtually unlimited potential Communication from you & Linden Lab is what will & has recently been making it easier to deal with the many issues & problems that have been accumulating .... please do not stop ! ... & do encourage greater inworld exposure & communications by your staff You will find that many problems will not be that hard to resolve, especially if you utilise the skills offered by those of us who hold secondlife to be a treasure worth nurturing ... others ... mm ... there are some doozies of problems to be fixed , but it can be done & I have high hopes that they will increasingly be addressed. After 2 years of full time immersion in SL ... for all that I have learnt ... I am just an older noob & still learning everyday ... & loving it ... I think that SL is one of the contemporary 'wonders' of this planet we all share I hope that this becomes your experience & that in your growing you can guide the regeneration of SL Welcome again ... in every tongue & language, dialect & patios
