  1. It depends on exactly where behind the ear because of some warping from the way the UV is done--- but I've managed pretty good placement in my own custom tattoos (my avatar has an ankh behind her ear). Send me a notecard in-world with the details and I'll see what I can do.
  2. I just completed the survey but I think OP needs to log on more to better understand how SL works. I've been here since 2008 and I've not once seen any kind of billboard. I also don't think there are any banking or loan services on SL but I could be wrong since I've never looked for that kind of service before. It seems pointless to me though since you would essentially be trusting another user like yourself to handle your money and I imagine that to more often than not end badly. Food and water on SL is completely useless in any scenario other than roleplaying. It's not like your avatar needs it in order to "live" or some kind of imaginary health will deteriorate over time. Also when they refer to "buying things" on SL, I am not sure if they mean with real money or with linden dollars becuase they did not specify. I earn enough Lindens from my store to be able to pay my land tier and support my shopping habit so I've not needed to actually "buy" lindens in a while now. But I just assumed they meant lindens so I went with that. The end of the survey with the strongly agree/agree/disagree/etc options was weird because the last question at the end was not a statement about opinion but rather fact. Linden dollars CAN be converted into real world currency just like any other currency exchange. It's not something that is agreed or disagreed about, it's fact. ;o Anyway OP, hope the survey and feedback helps you.
  3. Stop whining about people whining about people whining. :matte-motes-nerdy:
  4. It may be from a store called Mirai, but I have no idea if they're still in business. The last time I went there was a few years ago. If you do a search though I'm sure you'll find it if they still exist lol.

    skins

I've been mostly wearing my own skins lately, but I otherwise really love The Body Co. They're the only store that I can wear their skins for a prolonged period of time and not get bored with. League has some really nice skins too.
  6. I was going to recommend Deviant Art because imo it's the best source for nude reference images(and free at that), but from your comment it doesn't seem to be what you're looking for. You can otherwise try Pose Space. They have male and female nude models in all different kinds of poses (I am assuming there is at least one T-stance somewhere) and additional photos simulating a 360 rotation of each pose. It requires a subscription I think, but I do remember getting a free pack of poses from them before(I never opened a subscription). I can't recall all of the details because one of my drawing instructors recommended this site to me a few years ago so it's been a while, but I would definitely recommend at least checking it out. They have good lighting too so you can see the musculature on the models skin pretty well to get an idea of placement and whatnot. I don't know about you but to me it's really annoying when the light source is either too ambient so there are no shadows, or too harsh where half of the person is in pure darkness. Oh and also, I found this really awesome skintone color palette from a deviant art user that I've been using for mine on IMVU (another place where I am a creator). The palette is great because it includes every tone from porcelain to ebony and they give you the base color, midtones, shadows, highlights, etc. Anyway, I imagine that it'll definitely be of use when painting your skins. And on the off-chance that you're looking more for images to photosource from rather than use for reference while painting, I can't help you there, sorry. ;o
  7. O hai! Playing dress up is so much fun on SL but it really sucks to have to go about it alone. My friends don't log on anymore, and I usually end up shopping for hours alone because I have literally nothing else to do. ;o I am a designer and I have my own store but I don't always feel like making new things. Ideas are always nice though! Anyway, I think we would get along nicely so if you'd like to hang out one day feel free to IM me. My search function is derping though and keeps giving me an error when I try to search for you to pull up your profile ;o
  8. Answering the nerd call! You sound like we have a similar sense of humor so if you'd like to IM me when I am on please feel free to do so. I'm a game design major, PC gamer, and need new friends here. Most of my old friends don't log on anymore. I'm a memebaser so I apologize in advance if I make a bunch of stupid meme jokes. It's a habit of mine. I love shopping, even if just window shopping. Taking pictures is fun too but I never have anyone to go exploring with to take them. I don't mind clubs but I haven't been to one on here in years other than if another friend invites me. I'm not into e-sex either, and I am in a committed relationship irl. Sexual things on SL make me laugh. I'd never do it in a serious way but let's just say I've gotten my fair share of free male genitalia to chase my friends around with. Anyway, if I sound the least bit intriguing feel free to send me a message.
  9. When I want to scale a shape up or down, I always adjust both the height and the body thickness. If you just scale the height down it'll appear to make your shape chubbier, and if you only scale the height up it will make her look lanky. If you adjust the body thickness in the same way you can keep the proportions. If you're doing it by a lot though (more than 10 or so points on the slider) I would recommend also scaling down the muscle on the legs and arms a few points.
  10. Sounds to me like you need to upgrade back to windows 7 I think Windows 8 seems much more suited for tablets rather than PCs.
  11. If I were to resize every individual piece of a sculpted belt to be able to scale it in one direction, I would pretty much be remaking the entire thing myself with their parts, especially if it's something like a studded belt that has about a hundred little individual sculpted studs around the entire belt. ;o I would have to move all of those individually to fit the new size and if I had the patience for that I would just make my own belt entirely lol. If a belt is modify, wouldn't it be possible for me to buy one of those EZ-resize scripts that scale in all directions individually and just put it inside the belt? Or does it not work that easily? (I have very little experience with scripts on SL)
  12. It looks like it might be one by Elikatira. I'm not logged on in-world right now or I would post a LM but if you search for it you'll find it. I can't remember the name of the hair but I think it started with a P and when you walk into the store, go left and there should be a big column in the middle of the room and it should be on the same side of that as the front door would be. (sorry I can't be of more help right now lol). Edit: Not positive if it's the right hair but I think it might be the one I mentioned above, which I just logged on and found that it's named Follow, and this is the LM to the store. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Elikatira/64/128/37
  13. @Ariel: True, I didn't think about the placement of it being an issue. I always just adjust mine to be at the top of whatever pants I am wearing. I do love the resize scripts that allow it to be scaled on each axis individually but I rarely run into belts with them. =/ Any suggestions on where to get some nice ones with that kind of script? @Innula: Oh true. I'll definitely have to look into exporting it from maya. Thanks for the link! I can't wait until the zbrush one is done. Zbrush is so much fun. Edit: holy crap that is an uber old version of maya, LOL.
  14. I still use the default avatar feet mainly because I am almost NEVER barefoot in SL, and the only times I am it's when I am making skins and in that case I need to see the feet to work on them. Otherwise when I wear shoes I am always wearing either boots or heels that cover the toes, so there is no need for the prim/mesh feet for me.
  15. Why would it be pointless? I do understand how rigged mesh works, and I would make them myself if I knew how to use Blender (my college major focuses on Maya and zbrush and to my knowledge most designers here use blender for mesh items). The belt could be made I think, if it was rigged to part of the body that wouldn't warp it (I think the pelvis would be fine, but I'm not familiar with how the SL avatar is rigged since I do not have the files for it). It would really be nice to be able to have one that scaled with my avatars body shape since prim belts 99% of the time completely suck. Would it not be possible for a designer to make ones in standard sizing just like other clothing? The same problem regarding avatars coming in so many shapes and sizes already applies to every already-existing mesh item, since sizes can vary from designer to designer and they don't fit everyone so why would it be less of a benefit for a belt as opposed to a pair of shorts or a skirt? @Monti: Rigged and unrigged items do actually fit differently. A rigged belt would scale to my avatars hip width where an unrigged one wouldn't. And rigged hair scales to head size, whereas unrigged doesn't.
  16. If it's no copy/trans I would have sent her the first replacement just in case she really did have problems with the delivery, but after that I would not have replaced it. She is likely giving them to her friends and getting more copies from you. You can reply to her bad review and explain to her why you won't give her more copies. That way she will know, and it will be publicly readable so others can hear your side of the story.
  17. So far since mesh was introduced, I have yet to see a single rigged mesh belt. Is there any reason for this or am I just not finding the ones that exist? I have been looking for one for a long time because 99% of the belts I have purchased are far too large on my avatar. Like, they'll fit fine around the hips but when I turn my camera to the side to look at a profile view of my avatars torso, there is a TON of room in the front and back and it makes it look really awkward. =/ The only belt I have ever found that fits my avatar properly is the NAU combat belt by The Abyss (which I love, but it doesn't go with everything). Does anyone know of any rigged mesh belts out there, or are they just not being created, and if it's the latter, why the hell not? lol Edit: just for further clarification, I do mean RIGGED mesh belts. I have seen plenty of mesh belts, but none rigged.
  18. The Body Co. is one of my favorite places for skins. They have both male and female ones. They're a bit pricey now, but they really are wonderful skins, but it's up to you whether or not you'll think they're worth the pricetag ($1500L for a female skin, last time I checked. I paid $1100L when I bought mine from there though). Although I just remembered they are currently having a huge new years sale right now at their location at The Warehouse, and all skins are $500L. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/theWarehouse/188/123/2003 The sale ends on the 31st though.
  19. I would love it if they brought back last names. I really don't know why they got rid of them in the first place tbh. To me they were a staple of the second life experience. You got to choose a first and last name like you have in real life. It kept it fun because most people came up with unique and creative ones from the last names they could choose. Now we have a bunch of Jenny5643's because "Jenny" was already taken. Before you could've used the same first name but picked a different last name. It really kept things unique and interesting when meeting new people but now it's just a username rather than an actual avatar name. I really hate the Resident last names and it's one thing I really cannot fathom why they would replace last names for.
  20. I think you're going to just have to eye it yourself. I don't believe there are any standard conversions anywhere because depending on a multitude of other factors of your avatar shape, the number for your breast size to be a proportional B-cup will vary.
  21. That happens to me on occasion as well, usually if I have to reinstall or haven't been online for a while. What usually works for me is going into my saved outfits, right-clicking one of them and clicking replace outfit, and then once it loads, switch back to whatever I had on before and it loads fine.
  22. Yeah that's not a simple filter in photoshop. That's completely repainting the avatar, or at least heavily editing by painting over it.
  23. I think they should definitely be sold as modify. 1. Without resizer scripts it cuts down on the lag. 2. Sometimes the color looks weird and tinting it fixes it. For example, some hair stores sell a dark gray as black and if it isn't dark enough I like to be able to tint it darker to my liking. 3. For sculpted hairs, sometimes the strands clip in a weird place, or the bangs are longer than I'd like, etc.. and being able to modify the prims to either fix a clipping issue or just change the style slightly is really nice to be able to do.
  24. LeLutka's Eclat skin in Umber looks quite nice as well. Actually the one from the Body Co that was previously mentioned has a very similar facial structure. But anyway, both are really nice skins so I would definitely recommend checking both of them out. I remember when I first saw the Eclat line in the dark tone I contemplating buying it and I usually only wear (very) lightly tanned skins.
  25. I'm looking for a decent quality (preferably rigged mesh but if not at least sculpted) death hawk. Something along the lines of these, with at least one side shaved and with for the most part the same length (or longer as long as it lays to the side a bit so I can show off the shirts I am trying to model), and maybe a little less gnarley LOL. http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4056/4360507953_407245da36_m.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lj3lg5sB8u1qdktn7o1_500.jpg http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqlvlqqvVf1r211p7o1_500.jpg All I've found so far are very few insanely outdated hairs (made with system prims not sculpties, too much flexi, etc), and the only ones that are of decent quality are far too short for my taste and don't have the little piece of hair in front of the ear (forgive me for not knowing if there's a specific name for it). The other styles I have found with even just the sides shaved, either look far too emo (which I can't stand), or are really long and cover most of the front of the body which is only a problem because I am looking for this style to model some shirts with. Sorry if I sound overly picky, I'm really not ;o I just can't seem to find what I am looking for and the only styles out there that are even remotely close are really outdated/bad quality or just not what I want. If anyone knows of any stores that carry a style like the ones I linked above, please leave me a slurl or MP link, thank you :D
