  1. Brows are attached to the system hair layer. It's a separate body part from your avatar shape. It'll have a little brown wig as the icon next to it in your inventory or in your wearing tab. Right-click and edit that, and there will be two tabs: Hair and Eyebrows. Click on the eyebrows tab for the options for the brow shapes. Keep in mind this only works on system heads, and not mesh heads.
  2. You'll have to go to the in-world store to get the mesh body. Not everything is on the marketplace, things are only there when the creator chooses to put them there. There are a ton of stores and items in-world that you'll miss out on if you limit yourself. Get out there and explore! Here's the landmark straight to the Maitreya mesh body at her store. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Maitreya%20Isle/130/191/23
  3. Can you post a screenshot? It's difficult to figure out the problem unless we can see it ourselves.
  4. I usually go for a "naturals" or "essentials" pack if available. One that includes one or two shades of each natural color (for example, a platinum blonde, a dirty blonde, a light brown, a dark brown, a light red, a dark red, and a black). If there are no naturals packs available, I find I have a hard time deciding which other one to buy. I mainly want the platinum blonde and black to be in the same pack so if that's there that's what I'll buy. If they aren't I'll just buy the blacks but I hate buying single color packs because I don't need or want 5 shades of black. If I'm absolutely in love with the hair I'll also buy the blondes but again I hate having to shell out another 250L on average for just one more color. I really dislike when designers won't do a naturals/essentials pack. Or if when they do, it's twice the price as the others (note to designers: Unless there's twice the number of colors in said pack, please don't make it more expensive).
  5. Agreed. Modeling schools are at best for roleplay and a blatant scam otherwise. Some charge as much as 20,000L to "enroll" over the course of a few months. A friend of mine did this and despite all of the crap they claimed to teach (including but not limited to how your avatar should look) his avatar was a generic noob avatar, looked like a praying mantis in terms of size, had terrible proportions, and I would not have hired him had I ever been looking for a model. He looked like a ken doll with dark hair. It was terrible and I felt bad that he wasted so much money on something so useless. If you want to become a model, set up a Flickr account, join a bunch of Second Life groups, and take some pictures of your avatar and post them there. You don't need a fancy "agency" or someone telling you what to do. Just do it yourself, gain followers, find brands whos stuff you like and wear it in your pictures. They might ask you to do some official modeling for them if they like your style, but otherwise just have fun with it and take pics of your avatar wearing things you like. You don't need to edit your photos either. I don't touch any of mine, I just set my graphics to ultra for the pics so they look nicer. I personally don't like editing those kinds of pics anyway because I like to present the products in the picture as they are in-world (but I also blog and have a store where it's important to not edit but that's entirely personal preference for other things).
  6. Most if not all newer hairs will include an option for use with mesh boobs. I don't know of a single hair dev who doesn't do that now that I think about it. It's a pretty standard practice these days. Try Truth, Exile, and Magika.
  7. Slink is probably your best bet because it's not quite as curvy as the other bodies out there, and it's the most versatile in that if someone makes ANY appliers, they will more than likely do them for Slink. The Mesh Project mesh body is really cute and looks great at smaller sizes as well, but it may still be too curvy for you since even at 0 the bum sticks out quite a bit. I've worn my TMP body since I got it and haven't really taken it off until I got my Maitreya body, which I like just as much if not more. it's still rather curvy though, but Onyx LeShelle (Maitreya) has a skinny avatar and it looks cute with the body. I'm not sure exactly how un-curvy you're wanting to be, but I'd definitely say try the Slink Physique body and Maitreya Lara body. Keep in mind that you will have to edit your avatar shape to accomodate the different features of each mesh body, so if you like the general shape of it go ahead and experiment with the shape sliders to get the look you want.
  8. What Belladonna said. It definitely looks like a graphics issue to me. First to rule out a driver update, set your graphics to high or ultra and see if it goes away. I have similar issues if I set my graphics too low. If that doesn't fix it then definitely update your graphic/video card drivers. If that DOES fix it, if your computer lags too much with the high/ultra graphics, just bring it down a notch until it happens again and go back up, and one by one disable the things you don't need until you find what triggers it and keep that thing on or off (whichever fixes it).
  9. Try setting the skin tones to all instead of just one tone. If designers specify a tone when making the applier, it'll only show up when that tone is selected. Just click on the tones icon on style mode and click on view all at the bottom and see if it comes up. As for installers being reusable, currently they are not so I'd suggest making copies before installing if you often have problems with them. I did notice though that there's been a little bit of lag between the servers for TMP lately. I installed some stockings I bought yesterday and they didn't show up until I logged on today. /shrug
  10. Make sure you're wearing the shoe base that comes with it. IT can affect where the shoe sits. Also, you said you have the correct Slink feet but you're wearing default feet in your screen shots. Are you sure you have the right feet? Try putting them on, then add the shoes, and then wear the shoe base and see if it still happens.
  11. 500? I think you mean five thousand. The free body is cool to try out, essentially it's a demo without demo markers and you get a free skin in each of their tones in style mode so you can match it to your current skin if it's not from The Shops. The free one does NOT work with any other appliers. Nothing third-party will work for it and none of the clothing appliers work for it. It's literally just the body, and each skin tone that's included has a regular verison, a nipple-less version, and a version with a white bra and underwear painted on. The starter version is the next one up for 1000L. I THINK it only has one clothing layer, but I know for sure that it does not have the alpha hud for use with mesh clothing. Basic is next which costs 3000L, which has one clothing layer and one tattoo layer on it, all third-party appliers work, and it comes with the alpha HUD for use with mesh clothing. Deluxe is what I have myself, which costs 5000L, has two clothing layers, two tattoo layers, all appliers work, and it comes with the alpha HUD as well as all feet heights. I'm not sure which other ones come with all of the feet heights but I'm pretty sure it's only basic and deluxe that do, BUT I could be wrong so don't quote me on that. You can grab demos of each of the bodies in-world, so I'd suggest just doing that and seeing what everything comes with for sure. I love my The Shops/The Mesh Project body and I don't take it off often. I think it's the best looking one out there tbh. Just do a search in-world for The Shops. When you get there, make sure to accept the shop mode and style mode HUDs they give you on arrival because you'll need them. Click on The Mesh Project on the wall (with all of the bodies) and it'll bring you to that section of the store where you can buy or demo all of their mesh stuff. Wear the Shop Mode HUD and click on each wall icon to bring up the options in the HUD to shop. When you decide you want to buy something, pay the kiosk on the wall the amount and it'll be loaded into your HUD so you can buy it. But don't pay it until you know what you want because it's non-refundable once you add it to your "account" for them.
  12. The skin definitely looks like The Shops. The hair might be from Exile or Wasabi Pills.
  13. Without purchasing the full version, how would you make your vendor ads for the appliers? Also, I think it would just be nice if they included a non-scripted but modifiable version with a sign or whatever on it in the creator kits (that are included with all full versions, other than slink and TMP stuff) so that we can just toss our (local/non-uploaded) textures on them to test them before uploading. Granted there are things out there made by other devs that will give you a temporary UUID for your local texture to test your applier, but I really wish that wasn't necessary.
  14. TMP has 36 different skin tones so I'm sure you could find one that matches pretty closely to the LOGO heads. Also as a side note, I saw a girl at TMP just earlier today who was wearing a LOGO head with TMP body and it looked fine.
  15. That's just the way default SL avatar butts look at that angle. Granted I'm sure you can make it less prominent if you make your hips less long, but it'll always be there a little bit. My avatar has the same thing, it's just not as deep because my hip length is only at 42.
  16. I'm not familiar with his store but in all honesty, I usually completely ignore stores who use either heavily photoshopped ads, or ads where a SL face is pasted onto a real life head/body (like his are). I feel like by doing that, it's hiding what the product actually looks like and it makes me worry that it's terrible and they just want you to take a chance on buying it. I have no idea if this holds true for this guy or not, but that's what I get from looking at his store and vendor ads as well as other stores that use the same "technique" for their ads. I'd suggest picking up some free demos if he has them available, so you can see exactly what you're buying before you buy it. If there are no demos, then I wouldn't waste your money. I checked on his store and it looks like he has demos, so definitely try them out and see if you like it and want to buy it.
  17. If you buy the deluxe version of the mesh project's body, it comes with an alpha HUD so you can wear any mesh clothing (including those that are not made for the body) with it.
  18. Here, I took some screen shots. The Delicq boobs seem to fit wowmeh perfectly, actually. This is the insize body. I tried it on the oversize body and they do not fit at all. The wowmeh boobs are bigger then the delicq ones, so it's just all sorts of wonky. Even with the alpha, you'll either have half-visible boobs, or the giant gap under them. On the Insize one (shown), they fit perfect even without the alpha on. All I hid was the nipples and the surrounding boobage Also, sorry for the **bleep**ty censor job. I'm not sure if nudity is allowed on the forums or not, and for some reason photoshop isn't wanting to launch so I couldn't get all fancy with the mosaic pixelation blur like I'd normally do, so you'll have to settle for badly drawn mspaint scribbles. Edit: If it helps, I set my breast gravity to 100 for the screen shot. It looked better since it hid the boob undershadow a bit better and made it look over all much smoother. It looked fine with it on 44 like I normally have it for my standard avatar shape though.
  19. Can you link the video? I've been trying to figure out the photoshop 3d thing for a while. Also, I imagine you'd have to bake it to the texture, then open the textures in 2d and fix the parts where it's distorted. Your seams should already be lined up from merging it or whatever, so all you'd have to do is fix the flat parts.
  20. Well that particular skin looks like it's from Essences, so I'd start there.
  21. Yeah, unfortunately that's pretty much what I had to do; stop using them. It just sucks because their skins are so nice so I was hoping someone would have a workaround. I don't think they're really a direct competitor with Slink though because they have so little available and their hands&feet only have appliers for their own skin tones. Besides, their mesh hands&feet are free, and the pumps are just a donation gift which can be as low as $1L to get them. It if anything would be a nice alternative to those who can't afford slinks with all the fancy layers on them, but honestly they really aren't any competition. The only competition there is at all imo is the mesh heads. But as for hands&feet? I disagree. As for wearing shoes with the feet built in with the tinting hud, I don't think anyone even makes those anymore honestly. So my options for that would be severely limited, as well as outdated.
  22. So I LOVE my Shops/Bodyco skins but I HATE the fact that I can't wear my slinks with them, since they don't make appliers for them. I have their free mesh hands and feet but A) I can't wear my full sleeve tattoos with the hands since there are no tattoo layers for tattoo appliers on them, B) Even with tinting them they don't match that great and the feet are so much darker than the hands so it looks strange together (when tinting and wearing the blender layers) and C) I can't wear slink shoe addons with their feet because they don't fit them, and no one makes shoes for their feet except them and they literally only have one pair of heels for them. So my question is, how do you guys get around this? I really wish they'd just make slink appliers.. Their mesh hands and feet are nice and all but they're just not the standard like slink is so unless you walk around barefoot and with no tattoos that go past the mid-forearm, there's really not much you can do with them. The Shops is one of my favorite skin stores on the grid but I've been avoiding wearing them for a while now because of the lack of slinks. So, any suggestions as to how to get around that? Do they actually make slink appliers and they're just hidden away somewhere in some obscure location? Does anyone actually make shoes for their feet? What do? D;
  23. Mesh attachments are generally for more seasoned users who know what they do and understand how they work, and who have also decided for sure that that's what they want. The reason I say this is because they're not completely necessary and although they may look nice (with the proper appliers), they severely limit your clothing and skin choices. Granted I wanna say a good 70% of designers make appliers for the Tangos and Azz mesh attachments, not everyone does. The same goes for the Slink hands and feet. While I personally won't wear the default hands and feet and will always wear my slinks, that does not hold true for everyone. By "seasoned users... etc" I just mean people who have shopped around and decided for sure that mesh attachments are something that they want to invest in, know how appliers work and that they are not always available, and understand that it limits their potential wardrobe by quite a bit. The purpose of the mesh attachments is to replace body parts you do not like the shape of, or ones you just want an "enhanced" version of. For example, boobs when the slider is brought to near 100, start to get bulky, blocky, and over all just bad looking. The mesh breast attachments not only smooth all of that out but also provide a more "realistic" shape (I put that in quotations because to me they are usually far beyond any realistic level of perkiness for their size and often appear to defy gravity). The default hands and feet are very low-poly, meaning they have very little detail in terms of geometry and the mesh attachments will replace them with a much more pleasant and detailed look. The same goes for the mesh bum, where it will give you a more realistic and nicer looking bum as well as smoother legs with a nicer shape than the default. The thing is though since mesh attachments replace the body part, your clothing will not go over it unless the designer who made the clothing makes an applier for the body part, just as your skin on said body part will also not match if the designer of the skin you're wearing hasn't made skin appliers. If you find yourself in a situation where your skin does not have appliers available, there IS a tinting system that actually works rather well so you can get them to be seamless between tinting to the right color and wearing a blending layer so there's no obvious line where it ends. I would suggest shopping around a bit and learning the basics of your shape and clothing before you decide to buy mesh attachments. The only ones I would always recommend are the Slink hands&feet because since those are pretty much the "standard" right now, most shoe designers no longer make shoes for the default feet. As for the bum and boobs, shop around, buy regular clothing that you like (that isn't necessarily made for those products), and see if you feel like you are "lacking" in that department. If you find that your boobs just aren't big enough for your style, or that your bum and legs just aren't cutting it, then I'd suggest buying the attachments. But don't buy them just because one person said it's the way to go, everyone has different tastes. I own boobs, butts, hands, feet, and a mesh body but the only ones I wear on a daily basis are my Slink hands&feet. There are demos for the hands and feet, mesh bodies, and the bums BUT there are no demos for the Lola breasts, and they have a rather high price tag ($1750L), so I wouldn't recommend buying them until you're absolutely sure you want them.
  24. There is no way to take off a system eyes product from the avatar. It's an essential thing like your avatar shape or skin, so it cannot be taken off. If you wear the alpha to hide your system eyes, that should make your eye sockets empty and then you can wear your mesh eyes without having your regular eyes poke through anywhere. Can you post a pic of what's going on when you try everything?
  25. The gap is there on the demo but when you buy the full version and unpack the newest update (there's a box inside it for avatar enhancement version that you need to unpack for the latest version), there is no gap. I have no idea why the demos were never updated. It was like that when I bought them too.
