im being switched after almost 4 years in sl from an unlimited internet plan to a plan that allows a total of 4 G a month. im use to spending as much time as I want inworld. does anyone have any idea how long in sl it takes to use a G? a friend of mine said he ran his laptop off his android while house sitting last weekend and 8 hours in sl used 1 gig. any other ideas on this? appreciate you help, bee in response to the answer below, its not a smart phone, its an internet plan that allows 4 g's of download a month (much like a phone). ive always had unlimited plans and this appears to be the new wave of ways to make more money, setting download limits on internet plans. but thanks for your answer :) and yes, g refers to gb of course. you are allowed 4 g a month of download, when you go over they charge you more money. so as I said above, my friend said 8 hours of sl used 1 g, im hoping someone will say that's wrong lol, that would allow me around 32 hours of sl a month and as I run a gallery, host events etc, that would be a nightmare. :) thanks to all that answered :) Linden's response was to contact my ISP, which was useless. you would think they would have a ballpark figure, I realize there are variables, pref settings, auto play media, cache etc, but you think there would be a ballpark figure. from the response to my question here and on FB, it appears im not the only one that has wondered. thanks again to all :)

thanks Karen as I stated in my question, I already did all that, but I found my way back in and would like to share as another interesting fact in these kind of puzzles I went in to my security suite to look and firewalls and when I opened it , I had a huge red "!" on virus updates. somehow or another my "auto install updates" had shut off. so I installed the 11 pending virus protection updates and bing, I got straight into sl no problem. it appears since I have clean installed new versions of both sl and fs viewer, my software was looking at those as "new" programs and refusing me access until I installed the pending updates for virus protection. so there is something else for ppl to look at if they ever have this problem. check you virusware. thanks again Karen for all your help, bee

last night I was forced to load FS 4.4.2 to fix bugs with 4.4.1, did a clean install (3 times now), when I tried to log in I got the "log in attempt failed, despite our best effort, something has gone wrong....etc". so I logged in with the sl viewer (which I hadn't used in month) and talked to a couple other FS users inword, they suggested I reinstall FS , did a clean install etc , tried again, got the same message. so I go to log in again with the sl viewer and it forces me into an update, to the newest sl viewer. it updates and when I try and use it , I get the same message now as the FS view "log in attempt failed, despite our best efforts etc". so now both sl and FS viewer will are updated and neither will let me log inworld. ive done clean installs on both. I was inworld on both yesterday until the updates, nothing has changed but the version number of the viewer, any help would be greatly appreciated. im more than frustrated at this point lol, thanks a lot

hi :) everytime i go into "edit" this morning, boom, i crash immediately. and as an aside, when i come back? my lm favs are rearranged. lol gotta love these "updates" to viewer, one step forward, two steps back.

help. i wrote a support ticket so 2 weeks from now i can expect and answer. i read another peice about the beta grid, but when i go cntr shift g it just pulls up my gesture screen. how do i clear my cashe on 2? i still show 10,000 in my inv but most are missing. thanking you in advance.

i just did a support ticker. same prob. all i have in my inventory are things that are currently attached to saved outfits. not a happy camper lol. i have a $3,200 LD AO program that has 1 of the 6 pieces in the inventory. i just tried to unbox a piece of clothing i bought at Grim Brothers and got some message about my parcel being to packed to rez object. geez, no fun lol,

lol, i agree. i ended up uninstalling and then reinstalling beta 2 and its working great again. now how come support couldnt figure out something so obvious? lol

thanks, i really appreciate it. i downloaded standard tho and maybe because im so use to beta 2 (i started with beta 2 from day 1) that i hated standard lol. couldnt even figure out how to change my clothes. so i did the obv, which i should have thought of in the first place. i reinstalled beta 2 and its working fine now. now why support couldnt figure that one out amazes me lol. thanks again though i really appreciate your help.

hi, ive had beta 2 for weeks and for the last 10 hours have been unable to log on. support ticket response told me to uninstall the beta and load standard. i have uninstalled the beta, but cant find where to load the standard viewer. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, bee

When I hit "Home" I go the the bottom of a river, lol. And while my Linden Home allows me to use the control panel, it still says something like" Mayor Linden is homeowner?". I'm sure there a way to reset Home location, but I cant seem to figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
