  3. I highly recommend this. I was lucky enough to be invited to the pre-opening night performance and it was one of the most amazing things I have seen in 7 years of SL. I took a lot of photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/puckhead289/sets/72157628001038540/

  7. Mine is intermittent. I was able to get into SL using V2 yesterday, but today again it is stuck at "Loading World" and never rolls over. So I can get in only with 1.23. Weird.
  8. No luck for me yet, even with a reinstall. I also get this when trying to install. On a second attempt, I did not get those messages, but it still gets stuck at "Loading World" and will not go any further.
  9. Hiya Claw! I'm having same issue. It gets stuck at "Loading World" and won't go any further. Also had a lot of weird installation issues, popup boxes. No resolution yet but I'll post if I find out anything.
  10. Nice!! Good luck and have fun, Gladiola, glad to see this option being started. I will mention it around to other sports groups I know, too.

  12. I'll get in touch with you guys inworld later and see if we can get something brewing.
  13. Anyone interested in doing an organized Sports Fair over the summer? I can provide a sim and host, advertise and help staff it. What I was thinking was: Booths, free info and sports-related freebies, live music, fair-type setting, special guests and demonstrations. I can start a group for it. Hit me up inworld if you might be interested to join in, it would be cool to get as many sports groups as possible involved.
  14. Hey Redlag!! Nice, thanks for posting the event, but just now saw it--will it continue this week also?
  15. Some residents do not realize that there is a large and varied sports community inside Second Life. Sports in SL provides a great opportunity for friendly competition and big social settings with a wide variety of activities. Some of the options include football, soccer, hockey, snail racing, car racing, wrestling, simboarding, golf, fishing, and skiing. There is a lot of pleasure in being able to participate in the sports world in SL--active games we have created ourselves and the wide opportunities to meet people around the world. In order to help promote sports in SL, some of the sports managers have joined together to help cross-promote and increase the visibility overall of sports in SL. Terrell Merryman from the SFL founded the Virtual Sports Bureau (group) to help keep contact with each other with a wider goal of expanding sports in the virtual world. If you are the owner of a virtual sports group and would like to talk with other owners and work on ways we can help sports in SL reach its potential, as well as being a great source of support for each other, please feel free to contact me, Terrell Merryman, Alistar Snook, Calvinizm2g Quan, or RobsterRawb Jaxxon and we can give you more info.
  16. Stanley Cup finals are coming up in real life, so interest in hockey is high. Did you know you can join a team and play ice hockey in Second Life, though? Yes, it's true, there IS hockey in Second Life! I am the league commissioner for GOHA (Global Online Hockey Association), founded in early 2006.The game is professionally and realistically scripted, and a blast to play or watch. We have 3 beautiful rinks, 12 teams, two active divisions, and offer rookie training for those of you new to the ice. The community is large, active and friendly, and whether or not you like to watch or play, you are welcome to join. It's a great way to meet people and develop friendships in Second Life. You can become involved in playing, captaining, cheerleading, volunteering, and participating in the varied social events. Our original rink is located at Jericho Hill. Then at Blueliner there is a lovely outdoor rink, and a large indoor rink at Empty Net. We also offer a fantastic ski jump at Chamonix City, cross country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and further winter sports are being developed, including bobsledding. It is completely free to join and play. All equipment is free. If you have questions I welcome you to contact me and I can give you a personal tour of the rinks and help you get started. Come Visit GOHA!
  17. Thank you for providing Numbakulla for the past years, for our entertainment. I'm sorry to hear it's leaving.
  18. GOHA's six regions used to mean I had a winter spot for 3 months. That's now gone. Hello Holocluck It's definitely not gone! In fact, based on some great suggestions during the week, we are starting a project to add more fun stuff. One great addition is already underway. The maze will be coming back out where the ski jump is now, with the ski jump moving to Breakaway (the sim to the west) so it can hold more people. We're going to continue many regular activities, and hope you can stop by again. Thanks again to everyone who attended, the fantastic Winterfest planning crew, GOHA, and Linden Lab for all the fun!
  19. Hey Morphy I had a lot of comments on the maze and it was quite popular, so my intention is to find a permanent place for it out there. The area behind the rink wasn't ideal for long term. We're doing some remodeling of the areas based on feature requests and suggestions. For instance, the ski jump is extremely popular, and we're going to move it to an area that can accommodate more people (the sim it's currently on, Offsides, is a homestead connecting to the mainland). There's some other fantastic suggestions we're looking into seriously and expect to add in the near future.
  20. Winterfest is wrapping up tonight. Thanks to all who attended and helped celebrate the season! The best part was meeting so many SL residents. I don't always get out much and forget sometimes how many great folks there are around. I'm glad to have had the chance to meet so many of you and hope you all enjoyed it. I want to publicly thank some folks who helped make this a fantastic time. Winterfest organizers Katia Ixtab, Ashlene McMinnar, Marjan Tomba, Dyz Warburton, Kalita Magic, Tangle Giano, Lobo Rodriquez, Janieke Blanchard, and Anhayla Lycia for helping organize the many activities such as the Ski Jump, Scavenger/Puck Hunt, Snowman Building Contest, musical acts, scheduling, new player training, and building at the sims. A big thanks also goes out to Linden Lab and particularly Blondin, Courtney and Delby Linden for this opportunity. We had a blast. Special thanks also to Michael and Torley Linden who assisted with some sim troubles. The Linden/Resident Snowball Fight was a highlight of the week and I thank all who attended, I did not even catch all the names. We had an incredible lineup of fantastic live musicians. Thank you for adding so much to the experience: Mankind Tracer, Noma Falta, Guitar Zane, Andreus Gustafson, The Follow, Reggie Sunset, Jimmyt49 Dukes, CCTV Giant, Tamra Sands, XanderNichting Writer, Skye Galaxy, Jean Munro, Keiko Takamura, Phemie Alcott, CraigLyons Writer, TwinGhost Ronas, Louis Volare, Dann Numbers, Lance Rembrandt, Buckley Moonwall, Maximillion Kleene (original GOHArian!), David Csiszer, Mimi Carpenter, and Edward Kyomoon. Thanks to Marjan Tomba for the popular new ski jump, and Lancelot Skytower for the fantastic balloon tours across the sims. Live DJ Bonfire parties were a great relaxing end to several evenings and I want to thank Ashlene McMinnar and Merrik Caproni, and DJ Mac Ronas from The Underground (my favorite club in SL!) for providing these. The Puckettes cheerleaders and manager Kayden Piers for fantastic performances and for coming out to cheer on the teams during the Open Hockey games. Lobo Rodriquez for organizing a fantastic All-Star's Hockey Game, Merrik Caproni for making uniforms, and TreetTV for yet another professional filming job. Thanks to all the sports managers who came to the Meet-and-Greet to help promote sports inside SL. Hope you will all keep in touch! Most of all, for all GOHA members, thanks for all the time you spent helping to greet and help visitors, assisting me with various projects, and participating in all the events. You guys agreeably put off playoffs for this event, came and helped, and once again showed that great team spirit. The Chamonix area will retain current activities and add even more to the winter activities. We had great suggestions of additions we could make from residents and appreciate that. Hope to see you again in the community!
  21. The snowball fight today was so packed that we all briefly killed a sim! So, we've adjusted the plans to actually hold it on 3 sims. For tomorrow's snowball fight at 8AM please try the following SLurls. Try using the map as well, because there were numerous scattered fights going on all over. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Empty%20Net/153/137/63 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cross%20Check/197/158/60 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Breakaway/89/114/22 Thanks and hope to see you there!
  22. The traditional snowball fights will happen (yay!) and are planned for the following dates and times, but subject to change. The final schedule should be coming out soon. Lindens vs Residents Snowball Fights THURSDAY, DECEMBER 16TH-- 4:00 PM FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17TH-- 8:00 AM
