    I really love the idea to shop & sell inworld. And this is how I started in Second Life a few years ago.

    But from business view I dont miss my inworld business.

    I always felt like I had a hard time to find land where people actualy wander in stores (or where real person wander and not bots lol). Only one time I met a person who had a club full of real people arriving each day. She did put some of my vendors directly near the floor and this was indeed a good time for me then. I had a lot of sales. But I never had this luck again. My friend the mentioned club owner did leave SL...

    This was the beginning of the end of my SL inworld business. I started to look around and did try differend locations, rented own land and satelite shops here and there. But I couldn´t find the self-affirmation for the things I create in SL.

    I did simply have the feeling that there are ten billions of land barons and each of them rent out 200 or 300 storefronts.. and all those stores have to share customers which did result in my experience to zero sales a month. In a lucky month I had 10 sales wow. I started to think that you need connections in SL to get better sales but...

    Then I started differend marketing strategys as I am not that bad in marketing. I also found special SL marketing strategys you know.. hunts, freebies, luckychairs, luckyboards and so on.. things started to sell again and I did create my own mall..

    Sure it helped me much. There was again a good time and I collected experience.. maybe not that good like before but at least I had now way more sales then just 10 sales a month. Also a lot of socializing now which is the sense of SL in my opinion. But apart from the socializing with people which was fun.. all other things related to my business was a HELL of work.

    But then I checked out xstreet in the past and that was a blast. I now had quadrupled my sales and that without much work or advertising like I had to do inworld. I simply did put new things up and whoops sales here and there. And when I was boring and did advertise and marketing my xstreet stuff I even did doubled those sales again.

    Deja Letov.. I really really agree to many of your points but I think there are also some people out there who have a very ugly experience with inworld business. I remember times when landowner did rip you off with traffic fakes and so on. I have a pretty great experience with xstreet and today SLM.

    When I compare the work I had inworld with my business compared to the work and sales I have now.. I really really wont stop using SLM anymore unless LL shuts this catalogstore off. (Which doesn´t mean I have thousands of sales a month now.. but it is simply better then anytime in the past inworld)

    But again I dont disagree to you. SLM, Mesh and DD is killing the sozializing aspect of SL. At the moment I cant remember when I logged in to SL last time.. oh right.. it was when I had to update my stuff to DD last week...

    I must admit I lost the wants to login to SL and socialize.. simply because I do not have to do often.

    Really since Mesh and so is arrived I usualy only log in to import new stuff I created in a 3d application and not in Second Life anymore... and make it ready for SLM. Or I did only log in to extand the rent of my land because the Magic Box and my little sandbox in the sky was so importend to hold.

    Now I could also sell my land.. I dont need a magicbox anymore.. in theory. But I love my little skybox-sandbox :D

    And maybe I login more often someday.

    So the direction SL has changes is indeed highly questionable.

    I bet I am not the only creator who stoped log in often because all of these new features which make people manage things offline.

    But otherwise I am happy with my sales now and I wasn´t when I had inworld business.

    So for me this topic is sadly a two-edged sword.

    How to update an item in DD?

    Really, really, really... DD is a nice new feature but I cant understand how they did forget that we merchants might want to update any listings some day? Now.. how it is.. I just can say its much more easy to update an item in a magic box then with updating an item in a merchant outbox, lol.

    Thats crazy.

    Linden Realms question

    It worked for me when I went to the kitchen.. I think the code realizes just very late that you stand in the area. But if you did try that too.. well then we just can hope that they fix it soon :(

    This quest is know as buggy. See there: Return to Tyrah's Workshop

    There is explained what you could try to complete the mission. I did manage it to complete it anyhow. Try differend portals and also this quest will not be completes if you just stand there for a short peridion. It looks like it takes some time to get the compleded message. So stand there for a while.

    Others reported that clearing viewer cache can help and so. Just read the link above and maybe you have luck like I did.

    Frustration with gold hunt

    Good decision. :)

    Also if you like to hunt for lindens. Linden Lab the company of SL made an own serious Hunt for beginners but it is rather only on one place.. a game area, Freecilla mentioned "Linden Realms". Type that in search and teleport to one of these Linden Realms places and walk through a portal and just make some quests and missions there and collect diamonds. You can earn money faster there. Maybe good for beginning and serious.. however still a timesink. But I had fun there for some hours and I would suggest it to people who want to collect little lindens.

    But if you dont like timesink and if you just want to have some good amount of L$ then better buy L$ as you get already more then 250 L$ for 1$ or so. Imagine that. I dont know the exact rates now but it should be round about.

    Also you could look what people looking for.. lots searcing for helpers and some will pay you if you help them in there club or whatever. Some pay you a minimal amount per hour and you can collect tips while working as well. There are some other jobs as well you just must look around here in the forums and so. However always remind how much hours you in RL spend and what they give you.

    You could also learn how to create content and then sell it to people via SL Marketplace. But if you dont know how to build in SL then this will be a long trail.

    So what ever you do.. always remind its the reallife hours you spend in front of the computer and most wont get rich with SL.

    Some things I learned exspecialy if you are female. Do not accept each friendship just because some words are spooken. After over 3 or 4 years SL I learned that 20% of the people instantly send you a friend request while 70% will do it after a few sentence. The last 10% are those who really seeking friendship and who are shy to ask for friendship when they found the conversation interesting. Those 10% are really interesting friends.

    This is what I learned and I´ve seen it in my friendlist. Some day you login and really dont know who is that who wrote you a message. Simply because you got to much friendinvites from people who anyway write you just one or two times in a year. Or those who seeking only virtual sexual contact.

    This is why my future target is to be very very passiv in SL and last weekend I deleted 90% of my friendlist. Now I have 6 people in my friendlist I constantly write with. Usualy I would like to delete my whole friendlist and never ever accept new friends as this avatar is anyway my content creator avatar and sometimes it is really sad if you are creative and people write you. But there are already these 6 friends I really like. And most of them are content creators as well so they know the rules.. they know that you probably are in any 3d application when you not answer in SL.. they are not mad. They understand you if you dont want to write as you want to focus on your project. They simply aren´t much differend then me. There main focus in SL is creating content and not to much socializing. Some conversation is really great while being invited to any event or party soon as you login is a differend story.

    So all I can tell you is. Dont worry about deleting 90% of your friendlist if they anyway arent importend for you. If they disturp you just delete them. I feel better now. And then seek for people who use SL like you do. I remember a friend I met on a comepletely differend way. This was not just this "would you like to be friend?". It was much more special and he is still my friend today.

    Really connecting in SL can be much fun and I am open for clubbing and what ever if it doesn´t happen to much. And exspecialy only with people I really enjoy. I think the biggest error people start to do in SL is just accepting everyone. At least I did so. But I learned this is just annoying after some time.

    After I gave me those new rules how to use SL I have the feeling I dont have to hide anymore. So this is my answer. :)

    And just one suggestion from my side. Better buy L$ then play for them. Earning money with games in SL is a time sink you are noticing right now. This would be a way you have much more time for the funny things in SL like socializing, listening music or learn to build and so.

    Yes they do.. but not closing. I used FB and more then 500 SL people added me.. and well I added some too for sure.

    Lately I logged in and I get random questions "who of your friends is this on the picture?" and I have to answer otherwise I cant login. I dont have much time to do this and also no clue about all the names of the virtual pictures fb is showing me. If i log off i and try again, i get new random pictures. So well... you can say FB closed the doors for my account. ;)

    Why do you have problems finding keywords? It can be very simple if you think as a shopper.

    First of all imagine you are searching for your product.. what would you type in search to find your or a similar product?

    If YOU can make and descripe your own product then it is much more easy to find keywords for that product. I cant imagine that this is harder as creating those products.You need far less creativity for the keywords then for creating the products. Really. :)

    But if you hhave already the basic keywords but want to fill the whole text box.. Google has a nice marketing keyword tool.. maybe this can inspire you as well to find some extra keywords which should be related to your products indeed... but well you know. Here is the tool which can give you more ideas:

    How to run a succesful club?

    As I sold many club objects in the past and as this is the reason why I have/had some contacts to people who run a club. I can tell you the biggest problem is that there are already so much clubs and those must share the Userbase of SL who are interested in music and clubbing.

    Which means that the lifespan of most clubs does not overtrump one, two or three month. That is the sad reality.

    Anyway you didnt´t ask for that.. what I see is you want to know "How to run a succesful club?". And that shows that you worry about this topic. I also believe that this is already pretty good as I think most dont.. they just start but wonder later that they have to close the doors or that they did expect more.

    Im not a club owner and I never did run any club. Therefor I hope other people can give you some hot informations how to do it right. I wish you good luck :)

    For Linden Labs: Why no CSV files for top selling and top searched products?

    I think the title says all. I would like to ask the Linden Labs team why we do not can download CSV for top selling and top searched products. I really would like to see this feature as it could help us all to filter, sort and understand how our own products work.. if they sell or if not. Me.. I could manage my stuff much better as I like statistics and I think you can read out of statistics. I guess some of us here use Excel or OpenOffice.

    Please Linden Labs Forum Mods. Could you please share this request in your team? :)
