  1. Well first turn off RLV. Second teleport to another sim to see if that still happens. Thirdly delete firestorm and reinstall
  2. Thank you! muchly appreciate the responses
  3. So a noob forum question. I legitimately can't find the option to do it. How do I set a custom rank?. I did try searching the form for answers but the results wanted to return everything BUT what I was looking for.
  4. Give it time, its only been a day or so since the last one
  5. Tad bored of seeing the same threads being hashed out over and over again in the forum, reminds me of a phrase regarding the flogging of a dead donkey. Too many people arguing, too much lefty hates righty and righty hates lefty and OMG SL isn't fair to me etc etc. So.... Lets do something a little more fun. What would you answer to the following : 1. If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask? 2. What are some things that sound like compliments but are actually insults? 3. What’s something your brain tries to make you do and you have to will yourself not to do it?
  6. I didn't realise that Second Life was played on Linden Labs servers and simply streamed to our computers. That pesky Linden Labs not ensuring their hardware can graphically deliver us a solid 60FPS!!. We will have to invest in our own graphics cards so that our rigs are the ones that render the fantastic world of second life.....oh wait.... You may want to take a look at your hardware, settings, drivers....the usual stuff. As I stated in a previous post I limit my FPS to around 80 (Not for any particular reason it just seemed a good number) but I rarely see any issues on my gaming laptop even if I limit my FPS to 30-40 (like I just did to test this out in a fairly complex region). I had no issues turning, no issues in rendering other avatars, no issues with interaction or any other action I attempted. My experience was more than playable and im only running a mobile 970 GTXm. Your cards are way way more powerful than mine. You can't blame LL/SL for all of your issues here. There are many MANY things that contribute towards a degraded experience, from overly complex mesh builds, high avatar count with high complexities due to mesh body, highly complex clothes, lots of active attachments etc etc. There is also the issue of drivers, I had to downgrade my graphics card drivers a few months back as one of the latest updates at that time caused me no end of issues when playing Second Life. Onto of that you also have the issue that Windows 10 (if you use it) is still in some cases being temperamental when it comes to playing SL and requires a few tricks to get it running smoothly. It could also be due to Windows automatic update running in the background, that was the bane of my SL existence for a while until I figured out what was causing me issues, that process takes up a ridiculous amount of bandwidth. So much so that it affected SL, online gamine etc and resulted in me modifying the registry to turn it off entirely. There is also another simple issue that most people never think to do which is ensure that your dedicated graphics card is the one set as default for running Sl / Firestorm / Whatever it is you use. If you use Firestorm it could be the viewer itself as its a well known resource hog compared to other viewers so perhaps try Alchemy, the official viewer, Singularity etc etc. I even just tested FPS limits on my 6 year old MacBook Pro Retina. I limited it to 40FPS and set the graphics to medium and unless im in an overly complex mesh region...its smooth and extremely playable with no real noticeable issues and thats running on 8GB DDR3 and 1GB Nvidia 650m.
  7. Im running a 970GTX capped at 80 and I can play SL fine with no issues what so ever. Also I know what you meant by first person. And I said that mouse look was a "version" first person mode. I never stated it was the be all and end all of first person options. I gathered you meant it more in terms of Minecraft or something where you can create, use, build etc etc all in FP mode, however it think that would be a more cumbersome way to do certain things in SL. For example if you are building a sim first person mode using the build menu and having to constantly fly around and keep repositioning yourself, place things, align items, texture VS a much more efficient way IMO of ALT+Click camming + build menu. Personally I prefer the second option as its much faster and way more efficient. My camera can cover the length of the sim 10 times faster than you can fly there. However, this is Second Life. There is nothing stopping you from learning to script and making something like this yourself if thats really what you want. As a rough example (read very rough example also this would only work for objects with modify permission as all placed objects would need a script inside of them) : -In mouse look fire a ray cast at where you want to position the object -Check the object collided with is either sim terrain or another object -If its another object then perhaps check its not one we have already placed using this method -If it is then alert the user -If not place the object at that point using the ray cast for the placed objects central coordinates -Press a gesture thats bound to a key to switch into re positioning mode -Use left, right, forward, back, page up, page down arrows to position your object properly -Press a gesture key to switch into texture mode -Click to fire another cast at what you want to texture -Have a texture box pop up on the screen -Use ALT to get your cursor back and select which texture or again use arrow keys to move between them etc etc etc
  8. Judging by the fact your name is "King45Gamer" I think you probably play SL and other games more than you are letting on
  9. Habbo Hotel was browser based if I remember?. Also, rather than playing SL on your break at school why dont you do some homework and focus on getting even better grades than you have now?.
  10. This is exactly what I was getting at earlier. Iv been here since early/mid 2007 and I have yet to see a wave of racial hatred spread across the grid. I come across the occasional racist but for the most part in the communities I am part of everyone just gets along and no one gives a figs ass what race a person is. I do agree with you though there does seem to be a double standard when it comes to racism. In my view racism is racism no matter what race its aimed at. Thanks for your constructive input. We are glad you felt you needed to have an opinion but we do ask that next time you try just a little harder to contribute towards the conversation ?
  11. Public Reason : I enjoy the developmental and social aspects. Secret Reason : Shemale Furries
  12. Well, firstly I can pretty much guarantee you that THAT group.....boils down to sexual fetish. You can tell just by reading the description that its probably aimed at dominants and masochists. However, I feel you are worrying too much about something that really won't ever happen. Groups like this have been around in SL a long long time and yet the grid has not devolved into an arena of racial hatred. Yes there are racists in SL but in my own experience no more than you experience in RL. In fact I can't honestly remember the last time I encountered someone who judged someone negatively based on their race. That is not to say I agree with the group you have posted a picture of. I hate racism, more so than you will probably ever know. I have slightly tanned skin in RL and I come from a small island in the UK where at one point they were not the most progressive and I experienced all kinds of hatred from my peers as a child. But worrying about SL becoming another platform to influence racial supremacy....won't happen. You can guarantee that within six months of SL opening its doors some morons created some group named something like "F*** all black...." or "KKK Official" or "White People are the..." and those groups probably gained a good number of members and may have even had a small parcel somewhere that they all liked to meet up and circle jerk one another.....and yet.....here we are 15 years later and their influence is negligible.
  13. The real question is what would YOU do. I agree with you, SL is stagnant to some extent at the minute and IMO has been for some time. People do seem less interested in creating new experiences and the majority of new places that appear are boring ass hangouts where most people stand around AFK or sex sims where the desperate intimately starved sex zombies claw at you for companionship....or stand around AFK.... However, SL is a world created solely by its residents. If you feel that its becoming stagnant then do something about it. Create something new, recruit some like minded people to help. You don't even need to have a full $xxx sim to be able to do this, start on a 1/4. Find something that is not in world at the minute whether its something from real life or something original that you have thought up that you think would give people an enjoyable experience...and bring it in world... SL only becomes less stagnant when more people get off their lazy asses and actually start contributing towards the experiences that SL has to offer. Iv been working on my own experience for a while now that I am hoping to open in the next few months. If you want change then make it happen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You don't need a full sim to create a fun enjoyable experience. A homestead or 1/4 of a sim will do just fine. Some of the most popular regions iv seen on SL are on an 1/8th of a sim or less. I feel with so many options out there and a little creativity on your part....this is just an excuse... Which will never happen. Linden Labs are first and foremost a company. Said company first and foremost needs to generate what we call....profit....otherwise said company does not have the funds to be able to maintain and create all of the cool and interesting features that SL has to offer and without profit from said company there is no platform for said whiney ass to make ridiculous comments about "waiting for the $10 sim" I dont even maintain that on my gaming computer. I have my FPS deliberately limited to 80fps. I used to leave my FPS uncapped and found that at a certain point much higher frame rates started causing various issues with the viewer that actually made my SL experience worse. You don't NEED 144fps to play SL at its best. Mine is capped at 80 and I have no issues on my gaming computer even in high complexity designed sims with 60+ avatars. You already have a version of first person mode. Its called mouse look, you can even opt to show your avatar in mouse look in the settings. As for RL scale, I could honestly care less. Im fine with the scale in SL, after being here for nearly 12 years I am more than used to it. I get why some people want it but honestly its not ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to bring happiness and harmony to the grid. This has to be the daftest thing you have said so far. Do you realise the security implications if scripts were to be downloaded to your computer and then run locally. Humans are a creative bunch, LL could take all of the precautions in the world and you can guarantee that some smart ass will figure out how to access/grab the code once its gets to / as its getting to the viewer.....even if its encrypted several times over and guarded by a bearded wizard with a large stick. Bye bye no mod scripts once that problem got solved. You also say "so you get a good response" as if scripts are slow and you need to go off and make a cup of tea and possibly a ham sandwich whilst waiting for one to run. As a coder myself I find scripts to be reasonably responsive and snappy in most situations inside of Second Life. Even in the various combat regions I have owned and designed, my players were able to engage in fast paced active combat with melee, spells etc using one of my combat system and rarely ever had too many issues that prevented them from doing what they do. Yes scripts can sometimes delay but thats not necessarily to do with scripts running on the server but probably more to do with a whole MULTITUDE of reasons that could be causing one of a MULTITUDE of issues at that particular time that MIGHT be the cause of said script experiencing a delay.
  14. Okay so here's the thing. Your stating something as fact when in truth its "not necessarily". Just because you are wearing a script doesn't mean its actually doing anything to contribute towards *INSERT FEAR MONGERING LAG CLAIMS HERE*. Script counters are not always particularly accurate in telling you the true impact you are having on a region. If, as a sim owner, you really want to reduce the average persons lag in your sim then simply do the following.... 1. Stop making everything from the teacup in the cafe to the big ass city building at the end of the street purely mesh. Mesh complexity is unregulated in SL and for most people who are playing SL on potatoes visual rendering is the biggest issue they will face in a region these days, not script count. Just because you like the trash can that has 20 land count and more verts than sense dictates or the mega palace that takes up 5000 land count on its own....doesn't mean you NEED to use it. Find a mix of mesh, prim and sculpt that works for what you want. There are some low impact sculpted trees out there that look a million times better than some of their mesh counter parts. Mesh doesnt always equal better. 2. Kick people if their complexity exceeds *insert reasonable number that isnt 1 million here*. 20 people wearing high complexity mesh clothing with a mesh head and a mesh body and mesh jewellery and mesh nails and mesh hair and that cute animated mesh dog with the mesh bag....especially coupled with my first point.....is going to send your frame rate plummeting (unless you have a higher end pc). I play SL on my macbook and also on my gaming PC. On my macbook.....other avatars and overly complex mesh regions are the biggest causes of "lag" that i experience. 3. Stop using full mesh sim surrounds. Yes they look nice but they are a b***h to render. Again when on my macbook, derending the full mesh sim surround improves my frame count no end.
  15. Mad respect to you, too often (including in my own life) I hear nothing other than stories of dads just being uncaring utter d******ds. It always cheers me up to meet a dad who actually cares for their kids
  16. Nar dont suggest it for premium. Something like redelivery on products should be available to all avatars. Its not fair for person A to loose their money because person B no longer plays second life and can't send person A the product they paid cash for. Personally I could care less about in world, I just want to see this feature added to the marketplace.
  17. Female scripter also and neither do I, in fact iv had several ideas and suggestions accepted recently. Gender never has anything to do with it.
  18. Your going back nearly 12 years and no thats not the most obvious thing. I had no idea what SL even was until someone told me about this online world where people create all these amazing things. I just entered a name and clicked next without even thinking about putting a capital. BUT, that will soon change!. A capital shall be had!
  19. You had me with this. I couldn't stop laughing. Your one of those people aren't you thats still clinging on to your 20 year old Nokia 3310 ? "I dont need no dumb phone when I have snake to entertain me.."
  20. None of them, they all freak me out. Weird ass looking alien things that make noises. What weirds me out even more are the pregnancy stomachs that talk to you and tell you that YOU think the unborn devils spawn is cute
  21. Its annoying, all of my alts all have capital letters in their first name. I can only put it down to "hasty first account creation typo" xD
  22. I don't think any account I have ever created has had a goofy name...or a name with numbers. You just have to stop for a few seconds and be a little more creative. Think of things that interest you, words that describe you or your beliefs, hit up a thesaurus for alternatives, put them together to try and form something new. Although I would kill to have a capital letter added to chibiusa.....I was young and foolish when I created this account, that mistake has haunted me for years
  23. I dont discount this, system body physics are utterly hilarious at times, however when you said.. That was not meant towards anyone specific or offensively, was just me trying to be humorous about the attitudes I see in the communities I hang around in. How about I take a 4/10 marking and go back comedy school?. Would that make you happy? (You have no choice I'm taking that 4/10..xD) Again....comedic reference....I am more than aware that not everyone in SL who has a mesh body dresses or looks this way. In the communities I hang out in however, yes they do
