  1. Here is another laggy sim. This time with more avatars but I emphasize again that 2-4 months ago it was not nearly this bad. Stats to look at--The 3 under Simulator of course. Red indicators.
  2. I'm in a sim that was just restarted and look at these simulator stats with Only 9 avatars. This has been since the last roll and maybe longer. What is going on? Look at how low the red (fast) indicators go down. These go up and down like this all the time now.
  3. Time for Network Maintenance again. The bandwidth for all the sims is now continuously going up and down rapidly as mentioned in other threads. Can the network people at least make an attempt to see if there is something going on because I'm not the first to mention this?
  4. What in the world happened to sim performance with this roll? At least on Mainland the Physics indicator will pop all the way down and back up then almost all the way down and back up. Sometimes the Time Dilation and the SIM FPS are dropping midway and coming back up but not nearly as much as the Physics. This is with maybe only 12 avatars average. Did you all really have to pile more sims per server just because you bought news ones.
  5. What makes you think out of 9 Billion people on this planet that all the smartest ones are in Second Life? Sounds a little like your jealous that you didn't figure out or something and its so logical. Reminds me of that scene in Good Will Hunting when Matt Daemon's character figures out a math problem that one of the mathematicians in the group couldn't figure out and he walked out of the room demoralized and pissed. You people on this game are to much for the party.
  6. Another example of the diagonal sim. bug. Sim. is up but you can't see it. This is Korea1 looking over into Korea4 and of course vise-versa would be the same.
  7. Stephan, This is an acknowledged bug by LL that they refuse to tackle either because it's way down on the priority list, or they don't have money nor the resources to tackle it. I wish I could figure out why they don't fix this because IMO it is a priority bug but who am I . This is my post from last weeks roll and Maestro's reply. Re: Deploys for the week of 2013-03-18 [ New ] Options Reply to Nimh20 Vandeverre - view message ‎03-25-2013 04:09 PM Hi Nimh, that neighboring region visibility problem is a known issue, which has happened to various regions sporadically for several months now. Re: Deploys for the week of 2013-03-18 [ Edited ] Options Reply to Maestro Linden - view message ‎03-25-2013 08:43 AM - edited ‎03-25-2013 11:18 AM Maestro, This has been a problem for a long time with the sims. disappearing without them being down. It's there but its not there diagonal bug has not been fixed. This does not matter whether I'm on Wi-Fi or LAN. I'm sure others see it when they are their in these 4 sims.. In this picture I'm in Bonifacio, Ahern which is diagonal is there but just disappeared from view. If I go over to Ahern and look back at Bonifacio the same thing happens. Bonifacio disappears. This intersection of sims is on the Mainland and are Dore, Ahern, Morris, Bonifacio. This is a Landmark that everyone has in the Library of their Inventory so when new residents finish with the tutorial sims. this is 1 of the 3 Landmarks in that folder they would go to.
  8. But a lot of them are. I have a tool that tells you 16 and its legal by TOS. And I want something done about it for reasons mentioned in my post.
  9. Ok I looked at the map and saw green dots in the Linden water sims. Upon investigation their a tons of Mainland Water Sims.owned by LL that people are storing their BOTs in. Is this resource use fair to people renting a Mainland Sim. from you for $195 a month and sharing resources on the same server (host IP) as the ones where residents are storing their BOTs. I mean you have what, around 18 SIMs on a Class 7 Server. Should I go around and report all these or can the Maintenance Group and/or the Linden Department of Public Works take care of it?

  11. Maestro, There is a sim. named Orientation Island Public that is one for your Network Engineers to keep a close eye on. Greifers are DoSing (DDoSing) this sim do death crashing it constantly. Do you have no protection for these types of attacks on your network?? I mean I can prevent them on my PC just by checking some advanced settings on my Comodo Firewall. If you want to learn about what to block and ban in terms of crashers with your proceeding code rolls, Orientation Island Public, Help Island Public, Moose Beach, Korea 1-4, Ahern, Dore, Morris, Bonifacio, and Violet are the ones to watch.
  12. Maestro, Since you seem to be the only one who communicates from LL can you please ask around the office what ever happened to Second Life going on Steam as mentioned here -- http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Second-Life-is-Expanding-to-Steam/ba-p/1637751 ? If you don't go through the normal Steam route then can you submit it to Greenlight on Steam. This would be such a boost to the community because of the amount of people who use Steam. How can the Lab just throw out an anouncement like that and they say nothing about it for 7 months? Nimh
  13. Don't get me started. When are you people going to realize that it will NEVER get better. When are you going to realize that your paying obnoxious prices for the most expensive game (yes I said GAME deal with it) in history. I blame it on you the residents. Stop giving them money you idiots. I mean what is it you don't get huh? $295 a month for a Estate , $195 a month for Mainland!!!! Have you checked hosting prices on the Internet. You can get a whole server to yourself with root access for less money than that. Your addicts, paying for your escape from RL in such denial is scares me. Stop bitching and go to an OpenSIM Grid.
  14. I would just like Jessica Lyon and company for their latest update. Without this informative update residents would know little to nothing about what is going on at LL server and viewer side. Thank you for all your hard work. The Firestorm update video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_B8iWQ46Wg Nimh
  15. Ayesha, I'm not worried about it. I pulled out of SL a long time ago. I just like pointing out their incompetence whether it has any effect on them or not. Its fun.
  16. LL, Maybe you could compare notes with how Netflix architecture serves its customers with very little down time. This blog is amazing and it shows Netflix doesn't hide anything like LL does for substantially less money. Yes I know there 2 different products, but thats not the point. http://techblog.netflix.com/ Nimh
  17. And this is what you get for helping Linden Lab. Cold as ice and not even a thanks for the info or help. Ever notice you get nothing for IT consulting this company. Not even 1 Linden. Tons of residents try to help for nothing because of LL's layed back approach to tackling issues that go on for years and years. I'm done. Thanks for reading.
  18. Monty, Everyone having this problem should go here and test login.agni.lindenlab.com and www.secondlife.com at this website. http://dnsviz.net/ . So it sounds like to me that some DNS servers are simply not configured right. Maybe the Root zone file, or Root hints file found here http://www.iana.org/domains/root/files are corrupt or non-existent because according to the last line from this Wiki ""Once the address of a single functioning root server is known, all other DNS information can be discovered recursively, and the address of any domain name may be found."" if these where set correctly only 1 root server needs to be known in order to resolve the address. So did you check powerdns0.lindenlab.com and powerdns1.lindenlab.com to see if it may be an issue here? http://dnsviz.net/d/login.agni.lindenlab.com/servers/ . Also the DNS Resolver is client side which contains the Root hints file. I'm no DNS expert but would this be a file on powerdns0.lindenlab.com and powerdns1.lindenlab.com? Also maybe some of your residents were affected by this http://thehackernews.com/2013/02/dns-changer-malware-mastermind-pleaded.html is another possibility. Anyway just trying to help and if I'm completely wrong then as least I tried. DNS root zone quote: "There are thirteen root server clusters that are authoritative for queries to the global DNS root zone. The root servers hold the lists of names and addresses for the authoritative servers for all top-level domains. Every name lookup must either start with a query to a root server or use information that was once obtained from a root server. The root servers have the official names a.root-servers.net to m.root-servers.net. However, to look up the IP address of a root server from these names, a DNS resolver must first be able to look up a root server to find the address of an authoritative server for the .NET DNS zone. Clearly this creates a circular dependency, so the address of at least one root server must be known by a host in order to bootstrap access to the DNS. This is usually done by shipping the addresses of all known DNS root servers as a file with the computer operating system: the IP addresses of some root servers will change over the years, but only one correct address is needed for the resolver to obtain the current list of name servers. This file is called named.cache in the BIND nameserver reference implementation and a current version is officially distributed by ICANN's InterNIC.[2] Once the address of a single functioning root server is known, all other DNS information can be discovered recursively, and the address of any domain name may be found."
  19. There will always be LL fanboys/girls just like Apple no matter what these companies do that negatively impact their customers. I don't get these people but then again I don't get most. Most people might disagree with this but LL's only salvation is lowering its Tiers - Estate to $195 a month and Mainland to $95 a month and MOST importantly get it on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/ like they announced back in August. I hope they are still planning on Steam. Crossing fingers.
  20. Linden Lab has fanboys/girls just like Apple. There is no use arguing with them, trust me it gets you no where. A lot of people are going to disagree with this but Second Life's only salvation is getting on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/ which they announced back in August 2012.
  21. Cully, Office Hours listed here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:User_Groups There is also an Office Hours Hud--ask around for that.
  22. I'm being told that LL does not hardware ban people? I'm and sick and tired of these greifers crashing sims, etc. all the time. If there is no way to permantley ban someone then why is their even a AR system? I'm serious, do I have to get an attorney to get a severe greifer taken off here. Blocking them from their ISP?
  23. You know what. You all are the ones who keep putting your money into this game. The most expensive game (or whatever you call it) that exist or will ever exist). For $295/month (Estate) you should get a whole server with root access yet your sim. is on a server with how many others? Would you pay this kind of money for your Cell phone that only worked 1/4 of the time? Honestly its seems LL wants people to pull out because I can't believe a company operates like this to try to keep customers. Who is the dumbass either on the board or management making these decisions. Did you go to business school? Hey Phil, go out on your yacht with your billions from these people who have stuck with you through thick and thin and leave the decisions to people who still have to work everyday to survive. I'll say it again Residents. Its your fault you keep putting money into this only to be s*** on. OMG, the only thing your Live Chat people know is to restart a sim. How much money LL are you paying for unskilled labor?? Thats my rant. Have fun.
  24. Why didn't you all wait until you finished the supposed server hardware upgrades mentioned here before you deployed Pathfinding. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Tools-and-Technology/Project-Shining-to-Improve-Avatar-and-Object-Streaming-Speeds/ba-p/1583465 Now when you fly over Mainland diagonally across 3 sims you rubber band/lag forever.
  25. I don't' need statistics to know that AR's go ignored. Are you an employee Amethyst? How would you know? The Categories need updated especially the AGE ones--which should have been done after the teen grid was taken down. I send in AR's for litter that greifer's leave all over the Mainland and usually does not get removed. I hate you LL defenders I really do because are they paying you to defend them or are you paying them?
