I don't understand why so many people are getting so butt hurt over this gacha thing. All creators need to do is remove gacha machines and sell no copy /transferable items the same way they do copyable items but at a lower cost. ya know, like Teegle already does with the Teeglepets and who knows how many other creators of no copy furniture, vehicles, etc. that are not gachas. Many people dislike gachas because of never getting the items they want and rarely buy from them but would love the items they offer in them, so creators stand a bigger chance of selling their stuff if it's not in a gacha. boom, everyone's happy.

Do you have any idea how much time it will take for creators to go through all their gachas and change permissions, update ads, test, repackage, update vendors and MP, etc.? Even simple updated can be weeks of work when you have hundreds of items in your store. I am willing to bet a lot of gacha items will simply be pulled from the shelves because it's too time consuming to update thousands of individual items and potentially a few hundred packs of gachas like some stores have. Not to mention the impact on gacha events which have been running for years. The least LL could do is give creators and event organizers more time to make changes to comply with the new policy in time.

  2. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give creators more time. This is making a lot of work for gacha creators to update their products to comply with the new policy, not to mention several events that sell gachas will either have to change their events or close entirely. Please give creators more time to adjust.

That all SEEMS very logical.   But of course logic and human nature don't always go hand in hand. Yesterday I bought a set of lovely sweaters at a newly opened venue (four in the set) and the FOUR cost the same as I would have paid for ONE ten years ago. Prices have been dropping steadily for many things over the last few years and now with sales become more of the norm than regular pricing.

Yes, but that was ten years ago. Plenty has changed since then. We're talking about a sudden change impacting sellers happening over what... 8 months?

It may well be that prices go up, I don't know, but I am guessing customers will not be happy about it. Nor does it give users much confidence if the in game economy starts making drastic shifts that appear to give them less value for their money.

I want to buy more L$ for less RL$ - DUH.

I can see how that might seem appealing, however that also means those $L you buy are worth less. Those who are charging you (for rent, goods, etc.) will potentially have to raise their prices in order to offset the loss of the $L being worth less when cashed out.

For example, if I were to do my max allowed cash out of $2,000 USD a month the difference of 10L (from the usual 250 I used to cash out at to what now seems to be settling at about 260L per $1 USD) I loose $77 just from the 10L change in the sell rate that we've seen in the last 6 or so months. Add on top of that the increased cash out (from 2.5% to 5%) and MP fees (from 5% to 10%) and creators are facing a difficult choice. Keep prices the same and keep losing money, or increase prices and upset customers who thought a better exchange rate in their favor meant they could buy more stuff?

You can figure which word is delisting your items through a process of elimination.

Sure, but it's a massive waste of time when a) you don't know if/when your stuff can or will be delisted again when the next person decides to add more words to the filter and b) You may have to do this time consuming process of elimination for tens of listings. Nothing against you for making the suggestion, for those who want to bother trying, but LL needs to fix this.

Come on LL, you already raised the MP fees to 10% but rather than get a better MP experience it seems like lately the MP is more work than it's worth. Deslistings for innocuous words, gacha scams leaving sellers out of valuable items AND the money they were paid? No thanks.

Honestly I've just removed all my current products and use MP for only my oldest items. To me it's just not worth the time, effort, and fee hike.

  6. I would normally agree, and I tried to switch to using folders in my MP listings but I have had repeated issues with editing MP listings that use a folder. For whatever reason I can't always see all the items in the folder after I've listed it, so if I need to change something included in the listing I can't delete the old items in the folder. I eventually gave up and went back to boxing everything because I can always see it when there is a single item in the folder.

  7. Paypal doesn't charge to transfer your balance to your bank account, so PayPal fees don't come into play for exchanging money out of SL. All the fees are on the LL side. Fees to sell on MP. Fees to exchange you $L to your balance. Fees to transfer that balance to PayPal. Those fees continue to rise, and that means the price of products in world will be pushed upwards. All you folks buying goods from creators are probably going to be paying these fees eventually, through the increased cost of doing business in SL. If you're ok with that, allrighty, just please don't complain when SL goods are expensive.

  8. I'd just like to point out that although some of the questions I asked on the official Q & A thread were answered, every single question related to a possible near future increase in fees, charges, decrease in $L value or further restrictions on cashing out were not answered. They may say the fees and such will stay the same at the time of the switch, but the unsaid caveat seems to be "for now".

Thank You @Dima Plessis & yeah that definitely needs to be made available ASAP. That's something they should have had the common sense to already have in place once the announcement was made. sighs

Agreed, which is a red flag for me. Why were they not thinking about something this crucial before the announcement?

Uh...... So it could take up to a month to process credit now? I'm confused about this statement. 3-5 business days is what it's always stated before. Now, up to a month????? Or do they mean it could take up to 30 days for them to approve that you are who you prove yourself to be? That's still a really long time, especially for so many people in SL that their income from SL is their RL income. Does anyone know of an explanation of this?

This is in regard to the verification process  to use Tilia for cash out, not for individual transactions. Yes, it is a long time which is why I pushed for an answer about how we can start the verification now for minimum down time on being able to cash out. Their official answer is basically "Well we don't have that part figured out yet"

    Quote

Can we start the verification process now, and if so how can we do that, or do those who need to submit further documents have to all wait until August 2nd?
We’re working on making that process available to you in advance so you can process credit with as little disruption as possible.  We do not have a date when this will happen but will announce once it’s available. We will make the step-by-step instructions for the Tilia ID verification process public as soon as we can.

I find it a little frustrating that LL hasn't considered how to answer something as simple as how we start the verification process before announcing we may have to go through a verification process. That seems like it should be squared away before the announcement.

    2. Will any of these changes to a company providing service to multiple virtual platforms potentially impact the $L exchange rate?
    3. Can you guarantee us that Tilia will not be raising fees, or are there plans to potentially increase fees in say, a year, two years, three?
    4. Will there be greater limits on how much we are allowed to cash out? If not now, is that a possibility on the table in the next few years?
    5. In order to increase the amount we are allowed to cash out will any additional steps or requirements be added once we're Tilia members?
    6. If we are premium members in SL does our premium expanded support extend to our Tilia accounts in the event of an issue on the Tilia end of the cash out system?

It is possible that those that only cash out tiny sums maybe never had to give LL personal info - maybe only the people that cashed out amounts over some figure.  Now, anyone wanting to cash out will have to give Tilia the identifying info.  So maybe, some of the smaller creators that never cashed much out, might decide to leave rather than give info.  That will not apply to the larger creators though, since they've already given info.

So, very likely your favorite creators are not leaving.

I fall into the category of a creator who is neither small, nor been required to give the information Tilia will need. So people like me are left to figure out how to update our information so we're not stuck waiting for approval in August. Can we open a support ticket or something and start the verification process now? The FAQ seemed to imply we have to wait till August 2nd. What if they find something wrong with my documents after having them for weeks and I have to start all over? Could this process potentially take months to get squared away?

  13. Apologies if this has been brought up, but I have a another question. If Tilia is being used as the "cash out" system for multiple platforms (such as Sansar) is this going to impact the exchange rate on $L money? Will, for example, Sansar's economy change the exchange rates for the other economies operating through Tilia? We know Sansar has significantly higher cash out fees, how do we know this wont impact the exchange rate for other economies using Tilia? Can we expect the $L to remain the same or not?

No, in most cases you won't have to do ANYTHING except accept the new Tilia ToS.  You've already been going through Tilia for years now, and you've never noticed a thing, now have you?

Actually, because I have been around for almost 13 years, nor have I cashed out enough to catch the eye of the cash out police, I never had to give LL the documents Tilia is saying they will need for me to prove my identity. So unless they will allow me to continue cashing out without providing an ID or proof of address and such... I will need to provide more documents and wait to be processed. And since we don't know if any of us will have the information they will require (for example do they need more recent documents if people provided theirs say... 3 years ago?) we really don't know how many of us will be asked to provide documents.

Well, as I said, I'm quite certain our money has already been going to Tilia.

    image.png.c298d7500fce75831757d5121ffe2b28.png

You might notice a reoccurring theme in all the money related sections of our accounts, and that's been there for awhile now.

Yes, but this was all done with no change to the user experience. NOW we will have to verify our identity through another company, with more documents than before, and we cannot apply until after the switch happens which means all of us will be sitting in a long line together come August 2nd, unable to cash out until we're approved which could take a month IF the process goes smoothly.

Additionally, if we're now going to be going through another company owned by LL. How do we know things will not change to include more fees, more restrictions on cashing out, etc. They can change the terms of service at any time, and once we're all going through a separate company whose entire business is making money off of exchanges of virtual money I am willing to bet the TOS and fees will be revised at some point in the near future, after we're all chained to Tilia.

Will these changes include any improvement to the user experience. I doubt it, because I would think if there was anything good to say about this switch they would be telling us now to keep us happy.

What's risky about Tilia? We've probably technically been using it for a few years now already, only main difference now is it'll have it's own separate site we have to go through.

If it wasn't changing anything there wouldn't be an announcement about it changing. I highly doubt it's so simple as going through a different website. Our funds will be going to a different company, one that is part of the LL family but a separate entity. How do we know that won't change the process in other ways? For example, do premium members no longer get expedited assistance with Tilia like we do for SL?

    'What’s changing?

Effective August 1, in order to continue using Second Life you will have to agree to Tilia’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.  A Tilia Account associated with your Second Life Account will automatically be created for you and you will not need a separate username or password to access your Tilia Account.'

    @Linden Lab

My concern (and I have sent message to LL before concerning this) is that there is NOT a separate password to access the financial transactions in SL. I worry about the possibility of someone breaking into my account and having access to my rl bank/paypal to move money into SL and steal it.

I wish for a second password, different from sign in, to protect money transfers.

    Good point, CheriColette. 👍

Will you expect me to scan my ID? Will you expect me to send a photocopied version over via snail mail?

Yes, you would need to scan your ID for Tilia to verify after Aug. 1. We do not expect anyone to use “snail mail” for verification.

     Two things concern me here.

    1) If we cannot start the verification process until after August 1st that means there will be a huge influx of people applying at the same time and all waiting for their account to be processed so they can go back to cashing out. Not only does this likely mean it will take a while to process all the people applying, it also means that...

    2) People will inevitably all try to cash out right before August 1st, which will AGAIN make the exchange rate tank as an influx of creators try to sell off their $L before they have to sit in line waiting to be approved to cash out again.

This is unacceptable, Linden Labs. Many of the best creators in this game rely on their SL income to pay their bills. Open up the process for identification early so people will not end up waiting "up to 30 days" to be able to access their funds again.

  19. I updated an item in my shop and now I cannot list it due to "banned words". The problem is I'm not using any adult language or anything that should be banned. Here is the description:

Based on the Novice and Accepted outfits for the Wheel of Time novels by Robert Jordan. Includes both style of gown, shoes and serpent ring for the price of one gown!

The Novice outfit is all white. Accepted outfit has the 7 colors of the ajahs on the bottom hem and cuffs and a serpent ring.

I varied the belts a bit on each gown to make them easier to distinguish from one another

*This is one of my older designs so I have reduced the price to 10L!*

What word(s) could possible be banned??
