  1. So I'd like to left justify my llSetText Text. However, I've noticed that it doesn't use a mono-spaced font. So.. My first question is does anyone know exactly what font it is using? Or does anyone have a function that they feell like giving out that accomplishes this? I don't mind doing it myself if I can find the font family for llSetText().
  2. That would be the best idea. 2 separate objects, one which is only intended to be the hologram, the other the object for sale. Rez the hologram, but give the customer the other object.
  3. Could always install wine: http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX and then install the LSLEditor CE http://sourceforge.net/projects/lsleditor/files/Binaries/2.45.1/ Not an elegant solution, but it is an awesome editor.
  4. Ok so I have a script which makes use of 5 variables. Lets say I want to take those 5 variables and send each variable to a different linked prim to be displayed using hovertext. Does it make more sense to put the variables in a list, and send the linked message to each prim using one function and looping through the list or should I keep the variables as variables and call the function 5 times separately? Using the list seems like cleaner code to me, but I have been told that using lists hogs memory. Should I be worried about using a list in this case? At what point does using a list become detrimental?
  5. This isn't exactly what I was looking for, but yes it makes a huge difference. This is sooo much easier to manage. Thanks Yug.. I mean guY.
  6. Gaia: Thanks for the hotkey reference, but I did know about them. I was hoping to do it with the mouse instead of a key.
  7. I suspect this functionality doesn't exist as I've searched as to how to do it for a while but I will ask here anyway. Is there a way to rotate my vew around an object on only one axis while using the mouse in Blender? When I use MMB to rotate, I almost always end up skewing the angle, which causes me no end of grief trying to get my view in the position I want. It's really the most frustrating aspect of using the application in my opinion. Can anyone give me any pointers?
  8. Thanks for all your helpful posts everyone. I'll be playing with blender tonight.
  9. I posted this before, but seeing as there's more people following this forum than when I originally posted, I figured I would give it another shot. I would like to play around with making my own meshes. However, I know 2 things about 3d Modeling outside of SL. Jack and Squat, and Jack left the sim some time ago. In any case, I'm trying to find a program and possibly some tutorials that will help me achieve what I want to do. I learned to build objects in SL, I'd love to continue to work this way in some form of 3d software. This means building an object out of primatives, and essentially linking them together. As I get comfortable with this, I'd like to learn more, similarly to how I did with building in SL when I learned how to cut, twist, and etc. I guess what I am looking for is a sort of "Ivory Tower of Primatives" style of a tutorial for some sort of rendering package, be it Blender or 3ds Max. Does such an animal exist, or at the very least can someone give me a shove in the right direction? Right now I've been messing with 3ds Max and Blender, but neither is what I call "simple to master". I think the biggest problem is that there are so many options, buttons, etc. that I don't know where to start. It would be nice if someone could maybe do a tutorial on how to go from starting up the app to making a simple object, and upload it to the grid.
  10. Yeah, am I the only one not impressed? Personally I think they could have done better than some EA exec. I'm not holding my breath on this CEO decision either. Second Life jumped the shark a long time ago. It has lost it's soul, and will never regain what made it fun an interesting. But hey, I'll still gank money from the economy, that's all SL is good for anymore anyway. Oops, did I say that out loud?
