  1. Mesh is incredible and sooooo easy. I've created my first couple of skirts, a really simple project in blender and the upload was painless, thanks to the tutorials poppiing up all over the place. One thing to keep in mind is that many people cannot yet see mesh. With the alpha I wear under my skirt, it just looks like I've left part of me behind to those poor folks still in viewer 1.x, Phoenix or Firestorm. Give it a month or so and everyone should be caught up. I am running the latestLinden viewer and I actually found I had great frame rates...there is an incredible lag on start-up, I believe that's because they've changed how things load. There was a problem when Linden switched a bunch of the load to viewer side...things like bumps and lag with friends coming on, or inventory loading or friends loading. I think that has all moved to the start up when you first come inworld...still annoying, but, at least we know when it is happening. I'll take mesh, it's going to open things up to lots of people...with incredible builds...a shot in the arm
  2. Darn and I just downloaded 2.59 tonight...I was using your tutorial for 2.49 in 2.57 and able to do everything up to the bone weight copy. I hate to be a pain, but, where exactly do I have to poke to change those lines. Your tutorial about rigging is incredible. To find you and Gaia exchanging information is incredible...I direct as many people as I can to the two of you to learn about Blender, Sculptys and now mesh. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
  3. This has been happening for months...gifts not being delivered from Marketplace. It's a hit and miss sort of thing and I posted first a help ticket, then a Jira when they said it was not a support issue. I do not have time to go shop for the emplyees I want to give things to and the gift option was perfect for me. I think TruthHawks would be interested in the last 2 purchases I made that I could not get through, I know it isn't the merchants fault, but, we need help to get this fixed.   4. thank you Pamin, but, I have made some of the deliveries while I was next to the avatar...it has happened with 4 people over 5 days...17 gifts and I just tried again tonight...with another avatar, she was waiting to receive the gift, I told her I was testing and...yep, you guessed it...no delivery I have a jira on it.   5. If it's the "how to" do things, you're looking for...look to the quick start guide on the side bar (you'll need to relog into advanced to see it). The content specific help you get in each of the panes, any of the question marks in the upper right of things you look at in the viewer (like the sidebar). I have a little quickstart video if you are interested, also on your dashboard, watch some of the videos that Torley has done. There is a wealth of information on You Tube, if you like video instruction. Otherwise, just go out and enjoy, pick a subject in Search (again the advanced viewer) and knock yourself out.

  7. Thank you Peewee, before I reported the issue to support, I did look at the jira and nearly all of the similar complaints were marked to Support. I have a jira open on my issue and a support ticket, but the jira is the active thing. I, like you, was sure there would be a flood of complaints. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-3864 The issue for me started up suddenly on the 6th and continues...I buy things as gifts for staff at work, things like clothes, shoes etc makes the whole no transfer thing go away. I have been operating that way forever, this issue as I said only reared its head in the last few days. I was only upset that both support and the jira wanted to close, I was not about to roll over, grins.

  9. maybe this video will help. It could be as Storm said, that you need to configure the output, looks like your input may have taken the default, mine did too. Also, Music can easily drown out other people's voices, should not affect yours though.
  10. Which does NOT mean you cannot run it on a 64 bit machine. I run it on various machines. The two principal machines both run windows 7, 64 bit Hi LoveAngel
  11. If it is at all an option, a desktop is a better choice for running SL. You'll get a more robust machine for the same money with improved or upgradeable graphics and fewer temperature problems.
  12. A poor connection is one of the causes for cloud avatars. It is impossible to say whether the machine will be adequate given that limitation. Your issue with the laptop will be more the power of the GPU (graphics) the processor and memory are cetainly strong enough to run Second Life...laptops often have poor graphics cards. Some of the more expensive ones intended for gaming put much better cards in them. I am so frustrated, I posted an early question about the performance of gifts in Marketplace ..It's not working for me 17 attempts over 3 days all failed (just gifts, I get immediate delivery to myself, no problem) I submitted the issue to support and they said it must be bug and told me to post on the jira...after posting there, the jira sent me back to support...both tried to close their respective tickets. Please help me out by going to marketplace and buying something for a friend (as a gift), you can still find some free things or stuff worth $1 L. I don't mean you're cheap, but, it is afterall just a check to help me out. Don't tell your friend that, take the credit for being a "great person and friend".   15. Computer at work?? I can't think of any of the regular security software programs that do more than warn about downloads etc. Perhaps you should report the issue to the manufacturer. If it's a work computer, probably not such a good idea to tell them you can't use the Second Life program :womanwink:
  16. it is still happening today, I've filed a support ticket...no help on the jira, pretty much every similar issue there is marked as a support item, not a bug
  17. but the deliveries time out...only on gifts. It isn't the merchant's fault.   18. Thank you Rolig, I tried to purchase at last count 17 items as gifts from different shops on May 7 & 8. All were eventually timed out, even when the avatar I was giving them to was standing next to me and awaiting delivery. I was able to buy for myself and it was delivered immediately. The problem only began on the 7th, I bought gifts on the 6th and before without issue.
  19. I feel your pain, but, I'm afraid it has only just begun. I was unceremoniously dumped into the Second Life Cashier in March when they sent an e-mail of a billing failure on trying to take my land tier. The credit card they could not access was teh same one I've been using for years without issue. I dutifully entered the information again and made the payment manually. Imagine my surprise when billing failed again in April...I'm holding my breath about May. I tried to follow up with support and got a "not my job" response from them and told to access the Cashier (which incidentally does not show up in any search).   20. I love using Marketplace, because it allows me to give otherwise no transfer items to my staff as gifts. Is much faster than grabbing them and taking them out to the store (although I will admit to a shopping addiction). My current issue is specifically with this gifting...I can purchase for myself with no delays, but, gifts do not get delivered and of course time out after 8 hours. I have tried purchasing using an alt and had others try to send for me, but, no joy...gifts do not work.
  21. Charlotte, I appreciate your call for calm, but my orders have all timed out...not been delivered in 8 hours. One of the merchants wrote me to say it wasn't working but she said nothing else, just sent a LM to her inworld store

  24. I have purchased a number of gifts 12+ in the last couple of days, every single one has timed out, even with the avatar standing next to me in-world. Is Marketplace broken for everyone? there isn't a notice on the grid
