  1. There also used to be a hair designer-Diversity Hair-that gave out a single hair piece for avatars under 30 days.I still have mine and a couple I later bought once I got established in sl. Regretfully I can't seem to find them in world anymore. Not sure if that means they are gone or if Search is just being tiresome today.
  2. YT Upsilon wrote: Just make sure you have a "bald" base for your head Is that true anymore? With skins without hair is a bald base necessary anymore or has it simply become a tool to shape eyebrows? Kinda the appendix of parts from the old system hair days. Just curious...
  3. You might be a good candidate for a TPV as was suggested...all these viewers work differently on indivduals computers...certainly you can fix the profile situation using a tpv like Phoenix or Imprudence...or even the old 1.2.3 viewer from sl...Try here for the older viewer or the accepted TPV's.
  4. Thank you...I happen to have a thing or two I would prefer people didn't sit on but never thought to ask if it oculd be done through scripting. Nice piece of work there.
  5. There are days when I wish the filters had been in effect when I chose my name.:smileytongue:
  6. Peewee Musytari wrote: I don`t think it matters much if people get a weird login name, so long as the option for a proper Display name is there once they get into SL. There were plenty of complaints with the old system too, from people that thought they had chosen a funny or clever name, only to regret it later when they realised they were stuck with it and it made them look stupid, to people that got "married" and wanted to have the same name as their partner. It wouldn`t make any difference what system LL had in place, someone is always going to find fault with it. Personally I preferred the old system too, but then I was never one of those that wanted to change my name. Here! Here! Being one of those people that chose poorly.I was excited for dispaly names, but since both names are displayed it was kinda a failure..Also it was rather difficult to go through the whole name list game because often times the last name you chose led to rejection of choice or just crappy selections. I remember making an alt for study purposes and went through 10 minutes trying to select a name. That can't be an easy enterance for someone and I'm sure lead to people quitting the account creation process.
  7. I am friends with my friends..They are friends with their friends..Usually there is little or no cross over...don't know why but it just is so. I am acquainted with their friends though.
  8. Since I first started here over 3 years ago I noticed a tendency towards excess in heigth and shape...and I was really a participant myself (most avatar levers were all set to 100 excluding those that would have made me fat..lol..) I was oevr 7' tall and extremely muscle bound. With the advent of prim attachments to clothes though I noticed most of them didn't fit well and needed tons of adjustment so I started adjusting my shapes to something closer to the prim attachments. It reduced my heigth and muscle content to something less then "suoer hero" (or villian depending on your perspective)... Then in another forum coughsluniversecough I ran across a post in tutorials that discussed sizing of avatars in relationship to artistic perspective. It showed heigth as a measure of head length( chin to top of head) and how that length goes throughout the body. Basicaly the body is 8 heads in heigth. So I made some adjustments and found I went from 6'11" to 5'11"...I became a child amongst other avatars..with a beard..lol..I can say that if you were to look up that particular tutorial you should start with a large enough head..lol.. I finally made enough head adjustments to raise my heigth to 6'4" which is rather nice although still a little short amongst my friends and low and behold most clothing prim attachments fit just fine.
  9. Preferences>General tab gives you the choice on WASD. (towards the bottom). Not sure where the change logs are.
  10. I stay within rl proportions- no tinies or neko's or any of that- but within that I'm still a character in development. I just finished revising my shape to try for more proportionate look. And I'm still looking for a fashion which means I change clothes often several times a day probably as I move about sl. And I change hair all the time...always looking for a new hair style..lol..
  11. I personally find tumblr more useful for quick posting sl experiences...I use facebook more to follow businesses I use to get deals and notices of new offers/products. Twitter also is cool. I do understand the labs desire to get sl more visible in the rl world and that indeed, for this month at least-lol-, is Facebook.
  12. Welcome to SL...and yes take your time and enjoy things . Try going to different clubs and finding places you enjoy...meet people and the owners and then ask for consideration if an opening comes up. most owners are more inclined to hire people that fit in with their clubs crowd. If you arn't inclined to use rl money to establish your own look then check through the libraries in your inventory and try to create a look out of them and from the many freebie stores out there...there are some very nice pieces in the libraries. Also be on the look out for "hunts" and midnight mania boards as they often give out a better level of gifts than the standard freebies. Joining several of the stores groups also will get you many nice monthly gifts from the stores owners. These will also help you decide which stores you might like to actually spend your hard earned lindens in when you get them as the quality of the gift should reflect the quality of their for sale items and their consideration for their customers.
  13. Not sure if it's a 2.5 thing or not. I'm pretty good with 2.5 in most places...(those that don't load I cheat by lowering my graphics slider to low and then when things load raising them back up to normal) Phoenix and sl1.59(or whatever number it was left at) are more frequent and my cheat doesn't work in most cases. Makes me think something has changed other then the browsers...
  14. Been using it since the beta and although there were some things that took a lil getting used to I've become a total 2.0 user.
  15. Try using inventory search..Type in anything in the search bar in your inventory and see if there is any change in your inventory amount. Also for ease in finding new items go to the recent tab and check for them. If not there click the little gear at the bottom of the inventory and chose "show filters" then change the day to 1 or 2 and see what shows up. After any of that if it is still missing check the notifications tab in the lower right corner of the viewer to see if by accident you declined the items rather then accept them (amazingly easy to do actually..having done it more times then I care to admit..LOL). I f you did check with the store owner to see what they need for a redelivery. Most are very understanding. If you accepted and it doesn't show up after all my suggestions it's time to go and file a complaint with the Lindens to see if they can find your missing inventory. Good luck.
  16. I tried them all at one time or another..Currently I have SL2.5.1 as my primary viewer and Kirstens latest for photo work and Phoenix just to see if they've caught up to sl2.5 in speed and stability). I loved Emerald for the most part-early adopter- but I don't feel the trust to continue with them after the mess that happened. Also well before the end emerald had made rezzing slow and iffy-lots of silver surfers and scenery and they basically ignored the complaints in their own forums.(actually they were great at the..."well that's an sl problem from way back that they never dealt with" when in reality the sl viewer had moved beyond those problems.) I expect a viewer to load relatively quick (all of them are fails but Kirstens is fastest) loads all of my inventory (again Kirstens although the latest SL2.5.1 is within 500 units of her -last I checked Phoenix was still 12,000 behind!!!) least amount of lag with the best frame rate(-that's SL2.5.1) and rezzes quickly (again sl 2.5.1-can't shop if nothing rezzes...)... In the end though. This is all related to your system and what loads best on your system. For me that's SL2.5.1..For others it's Phoenix or Kirstens or even dolphin. All anyone really wants is to get in world and enjoy what makes sl fun for them.
  17. Not sure if this is what you wanted (and frankly how updated these are) but here is the minimum and recommended requirements https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/
  18. Actually...you should have got a sculpt map to create the object with you as creator...right click the sculpt, choose open and see if there is anything in it...if not then the creator remains and you would add a note to the folder you sell the object in that tells buyers to direct all questions etc to you.
  19. After typing all the text in it just disappears when I hit post...shows that I posted but no body of text to it. Firefox works fine...but I don't regularly use it as all my info(passwords etc) are in IE.Is the new system not compatible to the latest IE version? EDIT- anyone having this problem using IE9 RC...click the little torn page icon in the address bar...this will clean things up and allow posting. Hopefully they will get a update out realatively soon as IE9 is near to being released in the next few months and this is one of the only forums I have encountered this problem at.
  20. There is an alternative for android or iphone users that at least gives you basic functionality ie chat and tp...check the third party viewers page http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory for links to those and other text only viewers for work computers-if you can install on your work computer.
