  1. The people you are looking for will have enough grasp of the english language to understand your posting in english. I am a native speaker of german (and a journalist in RL) and I get only a very basic idea of your idea. Machine translations still suck. Good luck with finding the right person (not me since I don't want to be a virtual journalist and "hate" sports) for commenting on SL sports events.
  2. Thanks to all of you for your prompt help. I guess without your help I would have spent hours with trial and error. :matte-motes-smile:
  3. I am looking for an easy way to determine which face of a cube points up on the z-plane. I want to script a dice. After some arbitrary rotations on all planes one side (face) is pointing up but which one? Thanks for your help.
  4. How about contacting other writers in-world and ask them about their experience? Ask them about their experience how to overcome a writing blockade. Visit Book Island and contact Sandor Zabelin. You will meet many like-minded people there and they have a regular writer's chat. I have no idea about your "insomnia" problem. I was alwaysa bad sleeper myself since puberty and still am thirty years later. You learn to cope with it but that's not really a help, don't I know.:matte-motes-yawn:
  5. The touch of her hand on my naked skin. The feeling of her soft skin under my touch. The sparkle in her eyes when she smiles. Her well-meant mischief. The way she smells when she is eager and the different one afterwards. Her way of having fun while going for a certain target and not just the male single-mindeness of reaching that target. How she makes me see that 2+2 may equal 5 after all. When she reanges things and prims in a room and it looks much more harmonic and beautiful afterwards. Yes, the cuddling is exceptional.
  6. Venus Petrov wrote: Villain, This 'study' seems to be important to you. May I respectfully suggest that you continue your research and report back should you so desire. Or, publish the results on your blog and point us there. I, personally, have no interest in counting avatars when I go inworld. Dear Venus, good luck, this survey isn't important for me. I just wondered when I read about a supposed "shortage of men" in SL and thought maybe the power of numbers (meaning several people counting) would bring enlightment. I have to admit that I didn't proceed with counting myself since my opening post. You are right, Second Life time is to precious to spend with counting genders. Nevertheless, the interesting posts in this thread have a value themselves.
  7. May I friendly remind everyone to stay on topic? Looks as this has become a very interesting discussion about scared children and cross gender dressing. Please go in-world and collect some raw data! Just as a reminder: Please use the following structure to make it easier for me to evaluate your posts and put the results back here on the forum. Name of place:Ahern SLurl:e.g. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ahern/100/100/26/ Date:e.g. 2011-05-27 Avatars counted:22 Males counted:10 Females counted: 8 The total number of Avatars counted may be higher than the addidtion of males and females due to transgender and undefinable avatars like robots. Thank you for participating!

Maybe there is a shortage of americany guys as well? Hmh, indeed I live outside the USA and I didn't know that football is played in the US :smileywink:

  10. Good question. I guess the "feeling" that there is a shortage of males means a shortage of RL males with male avatars. As you stated correctly there is no reliable way to know the true RL gender . Let's assume that most male avatars are avatars of RL males. Well, your guess is as good as mine.
  11. I have read several times now that there is a supposed "Male shortage" in Second Life. Indeed? Or is that just a perceived shortage? Well, I doubt this shortage because I perceive it otherwise. Let's find out. This may not be a scientific and academic valid survey but if enough of you participate it will give us something more than just a "feeling".I would like to ask you to post the statistics of a few places your regularily visit here on this forum. Please post only places where you find 10 or more avatars.Don't post results of places that are expressively gender oriented like gay or lesbian places.Don't hesitate to visit places that have been posted by you or others before. Different times may yield different results. Please use the following structure to make it easier for me to evaluate your posts and put the results back here on the forum. 12. @Claireschen Hesten: You were your friends muse. Very inspiring indeed. @UncommonTruth: Don't give up. There are romantic guys out there. @Faithless Babii: That's so lovely. Congratulation to such a partner. @Storm Clarence: That's sad. I hope that you find someone someday who says something more romantic to you. @Venus Petrov: Very impressive. Yes, I can imagine that this was said by someone close to you. @Sashay Wildrose: Ah, that's so romantic. You found a true treasure in this person.
  13. I collected some romantic messages from some friends of mine for my exhibit at the SL 8th birthday event some months ago. Most of them answered "I love you". Well, from the right person this is indeed the most romantic thing to tell someone else, don't I know, but ... ... but, I got some other very inspiring and creative love declarations as well. I would like to know which line impressed you most besides the classic "I love you". What did someone say to you that made you think "I am really loved"? :matte-motes-inlove:
  14. Congratulations to your partnership. Well, my own one lasted three years before she tragically died in RL. I know many people with long time partnerships, meaning three or four years. After all many of us meanwhile oldtimers joined SL during the big Hype. Yours is by far the longest lasting I have ever heard of.
  15. Well, the important thing in my opinion is: Do you really mean it? If you love somebody, those are the sweetest words to tell him or her. Yes, there is true love in Second Life and I have met many people here in relationships that lasts for several years already. On the other hand, I met many people who change their partners almost weekly. Saying "I love you" is a decision of the heart not of the mind. If you really feel it, say it and don't try to rationalize about it. So when you feel like saying it, that's the right time, neither too soon nor too late.
  16. There is a workaround :matte-motes-smitten: You can build your own megaprims NOW! http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Building-and-Texturing-Forum/How-to-build-your-own-Megaprims-NOW/td-p/1023023 Happy mega-building Villain Baroque
  17. Now you can build your own megaprims up to 64x64x64 meters and everything in-between. You can either downlaod the developer viewer and register for mesh OR you use the FREE script I wrote and build them with the viewer of your choice.:matte-motes-asleep-2: Well, it works with Phoenix Firestorm and Viewer2, I didn't test the other viewers. The script doesn't work on all sims yet. Test it on your sim and if it doesn't work, go to one of the three sandboxes where I tested it successfully (landmarks included). Build your Megaprims there and rezz them later on your parcel. As long as megaprims aren't fully supported by the standard viewer you cannot change their size after you created them. After being created they are in every aspect like the other megaprims. Use one of these two slurls to go to get the free script in-world. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Villain/77/96/30/ http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rockje/206/205/26/ Happy mega-building Villain Baroque
  18. That was definetly the #1 on my wishlist for viewer2 after I used it the first time with Emerald. I had already given up hope that it would ever become a part of the viewer and filled it away under "Things's I would like to have but the Lindens won't ever give to me" like the megaprims. I love to stand corrected. Yes, I would definetly recommend to turn this feature on by default.
  19. SL is having hiccups again. We had a long period of peace concerning the asset servers. Well, all good things come to an end. I cannot delete my own prims either at the moment. Only work-around I found is making them "temporary" or putting a small script with llDie() into them. This still works. I find it very frustrating that information policy under the new regime of Rodvik has even become worse than before. And I thought it couldn't get any worse. There used to be some information about technical problems at http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ but not any more. The value of informations on the blog approaches Zero and even the announcements of the CEO tend to stay announcements and don't become reality: Rodvik Linden wrote on the blog on May 6th: "For those who are wondering why I haven’t mentioned our initiatives on fixing lag, and other updates from the technology side of the house, FJ and Bagman will be updating you on those items next week. In the meantime, thanks to all of you for your continued support!" This update seems overdue to me but maybe that comes of living in a different timezone - lol. While being frustrated about the technical problems and the lack of any informations about pending solutions I try hard not to imagine that Second Life is dying but ... I have a dream instead: Torley is working day and night on tutorials about the new features Rodvik is going to announce during the next few days: No more lag, all parcels get double prim allowance, mega prims up to 50x50x50m become a feature, the new sculpties are here to use, there is going to be a new and easier way to use animations, the editor will work as well as group chat and ... ... /me dreams on.

Decision: Well, if you like my creative mind and I like your drive this may be "the beginning of a long friendship".
  22. While reading the different comments to this post I found many opinions that I share. To name the two most important ones: Removing voting on the JIRA means LL removes another way where residents could express their opinion on what is important and what isn't. New guidlines for posting means LL threatens residents who don't follow the "party line" to get banned in SL. Why do so many of us have those feelings about Linden Lab posts? Why do we have this almost instinctive feeling that every news from you has to mean bad news? And why do I feel like puking every time I read that a Linden is "excited" about something? Well, many residents don't trust you anymore. There are different reasons for that and you gave us many during the last years for sure. I lost trust when you changed your policy concerning open sims others have other reasons. So why do we stay? We stay because we have met many new friends, we stay because we still love Second Life, we stay because there is no real alternative and we stay because we still hope for change - hope dies last - ... and many of us left. You have a long way to gain our trust again. Show us by deeds not by words and "exciting" announcements.
  23. Well, I wouldn't recommed kissing a Linden on Valentine (Is this allowed for our new teen residents anyway?). Kiss someone you love instead. A lovely Valentine to all and Spread the Love Villain Baroque
  24. I look forward to Valentine. Anyone planning a hunt? Please contact me. I have a whole sim named ***** (Look up my profile if you are interested - I don't want to place an ad here ) where there is Valentine the whole year long. Spread the Love Villain Baroque
