  1. Oh and to clarify, LL does not receive tax benefits bc the donations are made by residents, not the company. LL employees volunteer for this and other charities in Second Life just like anyone else.
  2. Hi, I'm the staff Director of the American Cancer Society in Second Life (since 2006) and can confirm that all donations collected through our official fundraising tools are routed through the owner's account and automatically to the Relay For Life account. All of the donations are used by the American Cancer Society in the same as any other Relay For Life event irl. We do provide receipts upon request, but usually for higher donation amounts. The example of the Salvation Army is a good one. Average donations in SL are about 50 cents at a time, so receipts are not a scalable solution. However, if you want a receipt, we encourage you to make your donation on our event website (relayforlife.org/secondlife) and your email confirmation is accepted by the IRS. In addition to being the world leader in cancer research, the American Cancer Society does "reinvest" funds in supporting cancer patients, caregivers, and volunteers inside Second Life. We are grateful to be partners with LL through multiple fundraising events and our island, where we offer cancer support groups and we connect cancer patients and caregivers to RL services like the Hope Lodge and rides to treatment. If you have a question as to our legitimacy. I encourage you to reach out to LL via support ticket or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345. I also would invite you to our annual Relay For Life 24-hour marathon event on June 10-11 to see what we're all about. It's a life-changing experience that is as much a celebration if survivorship as it is a fundraiser. And at 9pm slt, we honor lived ones lost with a moving Luminaria Ceremony. Since 2005, the RFL volunteer community in Second Life has grown into the thousands and I'm proud and honored to support them and give them the opportunity to use theor Second Life to make a difference in their RL.
  3. Team registration for the 2021 Relay For Life of Second Life season opens on Friday, January 15. Anyone interested in starting a team from your community, group, club, store, or circle of friends are encouraged to contact Gemstone Sunkiller or Selene Jashan to learn about getting started. You can register at relayforlife.org/secondlife (you can use your avatar name). Funds raised though Relay For Life are used by the American Cancer Society to grant research projects and provide mission services to cancer patients and their families around the world and in Second Life. If you or someone you know is fighting cancer, we're here to help. Just visit the Hope Haven on American Cancer Society Island to find the support you need.
  4. And GTFO is a great Relay For Life team, raising money for the American Cancer Society in Second Life!
