  1. I visited Elena's spring place today, It felt so serene; loved looking at every lovely little details: I'm a little big to sit on these chairs but I sat on it anyway, I hope it did not bend : b Thank you Elena for this beauty ❤️

  2. I’m not really feeling the chalets, so while I wait for whatever’s next, I thought I would do another stilt. Since I did a Havana inspired Havana last time, I opted for a more common coastal/nautical vibe for this one. I did stick with the Havana floorplan, as it’s small enough to reasonably fill, while saving enough LI to use on the great outdoors. The name of this one is Stilt House of Blues. While I am a fan of the blues musical genre, the name was inspired by the dominant color palette. I did recycle some ideas and décor from some of my previous builds, but it’s not always easy to avoid what I know and like. The full set of photos is on my flickr, and visitors are always are welcome to check it out in person as long as you wipe the sand from your feet before heading inside.

  4. Ugh! Decision time again. I am choosing to give up my camper. It has water on 3 sides. The water leads out to the coast and that gigantic 4-region Galaxy ship. There's only 1 other camper on the island and there are a bunch of friendly furries in the neighborhood that has stayed nicely decorated for as long as I've been here. It's a beautiful older section of Bellisseria. I hope someone loves it just as much as I have. 8:30pm SLT http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pugwash/132/148/24

  5. This morning, taking advantage of the fact that the map was working again, I had a beautiful trip on the Grand Canal. I left the Running Bear port in the Chalets area and went to SSPE1110 in the Palafitas area. I used to travel to "Lami's and Ivy's Houseboat" is a boat house that you can get for free at the market, which is wonderful and has a retro style. in addition to being super functional full of details, poses, etc. I stopped at Nautical Nonsense to appreciate the beauty of the place. another attraction on the way is the surfing beach night fell and that wonderful light was part of the trip. I entered a canal in the area of the stilts, but a bridge did not let me follow, and I had to return. here I am leaving the channel I thought of crossing. on the way out without seeing very well I was hit by a Transatlantic ship ... but the boat house resisted severely and I was able to continue and headed towards the concrete bridge. one of the best views in Bellisseria. here the great "Enseada das Pedras" formed by the canal before the concrete bridge. At that point it began to dawn, and in that light Bellisseria shows another face. finally I arrived at SSPE1110 in the Zona das Palafitas, where I intend to go back and discover new paths between the channels of Bellisseria. The trip map !!!

  6. Since the map started working again I have been staring at the very obvious, currently unfinished route (in red) from the Belliseria fairgrounds to the south of Satori and what piqued my interest is that the route leads past the area which we now call "the log homes" even though there are also Victorians and trailers there. So I penciled in my imagined addition (in bright green) to Belliseria where the next, yet-to-be-revealed theme would be located (I hope it will be floating islands, as I had suggested to LL 🙂 ). The reason why this makes sense to me is because this will add a north bank to the river which logically will be extended past the log homes. Plus this new theme has to be put somewhere and this location would be a good spot. It would require the moving of a few private regions, but that has been done before.

  8. many forget it has to be paid somehow.. Next to billions of tax money, we ( in the Netherlands) have a 7% income tax by our employers, a average of personal basic insurance of 120/130 euros for everyone above 18, if you need teeth or other insurance it will add around 15 to 40 euro's .. the first 385 euro a year not covered by the insurance, and new invention.. a personal additional payment for many medications. The total of costs per person.. including the post thats from the general tax incomes per person is around 5000/6000 euro's a year. Please stop the illusion that healthcare here is free. (note .. there are different other workrelated taxes for long term healthcare, disability and other health related situations ... we pay between 37 and 49.5% taxes even before we receive our salaries, to the state government, add between 100 and 400 euro a month to our local government, ánd also a part to the regional government and water management )

  11. This will have a major impact on impulse spending, shopping, and content creators. Those who casually spend $30, $50, $100 or more on linden purchases will do less of it cause of this fee. Not because they can't afford it, they certainly can! It is just that now the usual amount of money they dedicated for SL doesn't go as far as it use to. The L$ itself has lost value and it is represented with an actual lower L$ gain per purchase. So less L$ per purchase, means less L$ to content creators. Some might not think this is a big deal but for each time someone hits that $9.99 cap that is about L$2000 that could've gone to a content creator, friend, rent, etc. just vanishing into the ether of fees. Now for someone to hit that they say you need to spend around $139 which is about L$35,000 lindens. So L$2000 less per purchase is a disappointment and will stack with each purchase and it is sad and annoying to see happen. You want that person who likes dropping $100 or more on impulse buying to keep doing that and you want their money to go far so everyone enjoys it. So because of that slight tightening of the L$ wallet they will impulse buy less. Maybe they don't need those few pairs of shoes they saw that one time. Maybe they don't buy a fatpack when 2 or 3 single colors is just fine. Creators will have to bring their prices down to compensate and encourage similar levels of spending. You tell me what creator will actually think that is a good idea. This is just a bad move all around. Now I get that LL needs to make money but there has to be other ways to encourage that. Here are some ideas off the top of my head so this post doesn't sound so whiny: -Reduce fees for those on premium accounts. This way you encourage more to get one and encourage more impulse linden purchases. -Push the fees towards land sales. Land Barons are more capable of absorbing the brunt of this fee. Sure, for the average person who buys land in the future will deal with a price hike but that is a one-time price hike. Versus it following you with every purchase. -Invest in larger pre-built premium homes. I didn't get a premium account for that tiny parcel house. I got it for the tech support. Private sandboxes are meh, -Introduce a subscription service to support content creators. It works for youtube, twitch and the like. Content creators can decide what they want offer on a monthly basis. This gives them new ways to monetize their business and will make it easier for others as well. -Introduce a new premium feature that connects the inventories of your alts. Add a fee to increase the number of alts with connected inventories. You might think this will reduce purchases but it will infact do the inverse as you now don't need to worry about what alt gets what or which alt had what. I am sure I could come up with others and with some work I bet LL could introduce new features and systems they can monetize in some way. However, tapping into someone's spending is a sure fire way to hurt the economy and discourage more spending.

  12. LL raise buy fee's in 2017 - Next year 2018 LL lay off 12 staff LL raise buy fee's in 2018 - Next year 2019 LL lay off 20 staff. LL raise buy fee's in 2021 - ...we wait with baited breath. Not the best track record to go by with regards to trying to diversify your income streams using the 'buy fee' increase method. There are so many different options you could have gone with to get additional income. For example, offer a basic premium under the current premium that ONLY offers the Linden Home for say $5/m or offer a creators premium that offers current premium but with no upload fees, no stipend and instead of a linden home you get a shopfront store on a Linden owned and managed commercial precinct (region) like Bellesseria etc. Instead you raise buy fee's yet again hurting the wrong people when history, as shown above shows, does not work. Looks more like LL just either cant work out how to manage their income streams effectively or are simply looking to milk the cow, especially considering this news comes after a takeover. Despite reassurances that this money will be invested into Second Life to improve new user retention and simplification of the viewer and increase of performance etc, I dont buy it. To many times have promises been made of the like. Take for instance the move to AWS, I can give quotes from Ebbe where he talks up that LL are looking forward to AWS due to being able to reduce tier and improve connectivity to SL from overseas. I also remember promises from when the viewer 2 was released that it was to improve retention, simplify etc. Same with CHUI viewer or lets not forget premium plus, 2 years later still not around. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

  14. What part of most areas DONT have free county hospitals do you not understand? Just because YOU have free hospitals doesn't mean the other 300 million Americans do. What you have isnt the norm, most people pay for insurance. And the Affordable Care Act was never supposed to be temporary.

  15. I find this kind of reaction always very interesting, because it basically suggests that you feel you are buying the privilege of better treatment -- that, in effect, having money entitles you to special treatment. In practice, of course, that is the way our mixed-capitalist system usually does work: pay more, and you get more and better affordances, rights, etc., and not just in SL. But to use words like "disgusting" and "insult" certainly implies that you believe that your monetary contributions give you an ethical right to better treatment. Paying money makes you "more important," somehow. I think it's entirely valid to argue that it might be smart, from a business perspective, for LL to treat those who pay more better, but that's a view that hardly accommodates the ideas of "disgust" and "insult." You have not been "insulted," I don't think, nor have you any real justification for "disgust." LL has made a business decision. If you dislike it, because your money isn't buying you the status and respect you think it should, then you know what your option is. In general, I think LL tends to handle this sort of thing quite well from a sort of community-oriented perspective: they generally try to avoid creating too obtrusive a class system in SL. It is usually not at all obvious (unless you look at the number of groups in someone's profile, for instance) who is premium, and who is not. I like that ethically, but I also just think it's healthier for SL's culture. Some of us get extra goodies if we pay more for premium (if not, why do it?), but on the surface we are all the same, all equal. It prevents the kind of bifurcation that mars intensely class-conscious cultures. But, again, I don't think that's really about ethics. It's about making SL "work better" than it would otherwise. If we are talking about "fairness" and "ethics," here's what I'd like to see. I want to see reduced fees and costs for the following classes of people (none of which, btw, would likely include me): People who are socio-economically disadvantaged People who, for reasons of disability or any other issue, are especially dependent upon SL for socialization and connection People who contribute in really quantifiable ways to the community and culture of SL as a whole -- e.g., they run a non-profit like Virtual Ability that helps people, or a mentoring / teaching area for new residents, or a region, art gallery, or whatever that benefits everyone. People who create cheap, accessible, and useful content for residents, not as a for-profit business, but in order to help others. I can think of many instance of all of these things in SL. From a purely ethical standpoint -- if it's about fairness -- these are the people I'd like to see receive breaks from LL, not merely those who pay a lot of money into the company's coffers (although, in many case, these instances might overlap). But, of course, that's not the way this works, is it? LL is caught, as are we all, in a system, a culture, that insists upon ROI. LL is not a charity or non-profit; to exist at all in our culture, it must generate a profit. And so "fairness" is at best a secondary consideration, if that. Anyway, I'm sorry you feel "disgusted" and "insulted." I am, maybe, a bit dismayed -- but then I'm not paying LL on the assumption that it makes me in some way "elite."

  17. @LittleMe Jewell@Aethelwine@Fritigern Gothly I've had a quick look at Gaeta I continent and worked out it would only need a maximum of 13 new regions to link it to Corsica's coast. A new Gaeta I channel would be shortest between the south side of Oppinjay (on Gaeta I) and the north side of Joosten (on Corsica).

  21. Great news that inworld map tiles have been fixed at long last. At least now everyone can have a great adventure around Bellisseria. The wait now is to find out about the next LH theme which is due to be announced after SL18B. It's fantastic we can see the work that has been done over the past six months. Yay! The east coast of the log homes continent looks amazing now. Now that the map has been updated here are the latest SSP changes where the Moles/Lindens work at. 22. in 2017 Australia changed their law. Non-resident (overseas) companies providing remote services to people living in Australia were required to register with the Australia tax department and charge GST. The law changed again in 2018 to cover imported goods as well Linden now collect the 10% payment and pay to the Australia tax department as they are required to by australian law
