  1. So I did it.. I abandoned a really nice Trad and got a Chalet. At first I did not like them but it turned out that what I did not like was the region I originally landed on and its neighboring regions. (That soured me on Chalet's and I went and got a Log Cabin instead.) Then a friend landed a nice spot on Drumlin, which was quite pleasant. So I decided to go for it... I wasnt crazy about the first 4 spots I landed but I got lucky on try #5. It isnt one of the "hot" spots that most people long for -- such as on a river with windmill, etc. But it is nice and I like it. My criteria was that I wanted lots of green/nature, a bit of space between me and my neighbors, and either hills or water. I got a spot close to two small ponds. It is just past where the road ends, so there is lots of grass/plants and less brick/asphalt.. yey! The view from both the front and the back yards are really nice. Here is a very brief photo tour... The first picture is a snapshot of the house. The second is the view from the front yard and the third is the view from the back yard.

  5. The newly-released Chalet homes have open-plan and regular versions of the same build, so you might certainly want to consider them, along with the Stilt and Log Homes, both of which I seem to recall have enormous rooms in some of the styles. The other themes would be worth looking at too, but the Chalets, Stilts and Logs would all do what you want, I think.

  10. Parcels start out small, then they get big in the middle when you buy more land, then they get little again when you tier down. That's my theory, which is mine, that is to say that I invented it.

  11. This has been answered by others, but I have an alternative. I have a sound setting that lets me hear noise from the placement of my camera instead of equally from everywhere. As I get closer to things, the sound from them gets louder. I have chalet next to a windmill and I can barely hear it unless I walk right over to the base of it and it gets louder the closer I get. When I am camming around inside of it, it is fun (and less confusing) to hear only the sounds of things I am close to. I can cam around inside the windmill and stop when the sound is loudest and be close to whatever part is making the sound. I have blocked windchimes and other things when the sound of them has been turned up ridiculously high or people don't restrict the sound to their parcels.

  15. That one did come up in the search and - from what I can see - is not exactly related to Microsoft in any real way. it is a developer attempting to cash in on the Microsoft name while offering what amounts to snake oil. Always get your driver updates from the device manufacturer. In the case of GPU and APUs, that would be nVidia, AMD and Intel. With incredibly few exceptions you should not be getting your drivers from any other source. ETA: I should note that in this instance I am speaking concerning commercial operating systems (Windows and Mac). If one is on Linux, one can generally get updated drivers through your Distro's software repository as well (and should, with incredibly few exceptions).

  20. Actually, now that I think about it, I bet I know why the motion stops. Here is the theory that I have, the theory which is mine, and I own it. This theory, which is mine. And it is true! And mine, though it has nothing to do with brontosauruses (brontosaurii?) The theory is: When you click an object, that causes the server to update it, and to send that update your way. However, the server doesn't know the object is rotating in your viewer. It sends you its most recent (static) version of the object. Which your cache will happily hold onto until that object is again updated ... say, when you leave and return. Or something like that.

  24. We hold a lot of weekly parties in Belli as well as some themed events at the Bellisseria Fairgrounds. The latter being done by various groups as well as some solo projects here and there also! Bellisseria also has a DJ group of Belli citizens that love to play music which provides weekly sets around the community spaces. Some in private homes/yards, other times in the public hangouts like the pool areas, Randalsham Treehouse/Forest and Campwich Lodge, just to name a few. Posted below are links to the two main "Public Event Groups" in Belli. You will find notices sent out about art gallery exhibits, Fairground events such as holiday celebrations or themed events like summer water parks, festivals etc. As well as all the dj parties that go on weekly as well as impromptu gatherings! If you are looking for other types of entertainment. There are bike groups, sailing groups, horse riding groups, various rp groups .. Honestly, I think Bellisseria has something for just about everyone. The community is really kind and welcoming to newcomers so don't be shy about just dropping in if you see a notice, port on over and join in! We're a bit nutty but in the best possible ways lol. 25. I don't see why they shouldn't require their DJs to do some voice overs. To many people, that's one of the reasons to listen to an SL club stream rather than just having Spotify or YouTube on in the background, or even Twitch - all those platforms has content both live and in the form of playlists, composed by DJs. To me it's one of the best things there is with being at a club in SL - request a song from the DJ and hear them butcher my name and the title and band of whichever NDH track I requested. And it's nice to actually hear them thanking people for tipping or donating, rather than having a generic gesture spammed with a name inserted into it. It's part of the SL clubbing experience for the patrons. Besides, some of the DJs I've followed over the years are actually interested in music (le gasp!) and have fun anecdotes or trivia about bands or songs they play - that's entertainment value in my opinion. And of course, a lot of people don't pay attention to local, whether because they're tabbed out or because they're in IMs, so the DJ or host typing stuff there wouldn't necessarily reach people. That's why the DJ I work with will once or twice per set suggest that people donate to the club, or poke me if they want a tag, or that next set will be held by DJ X and host Y, or that this weekend there's this event or that contest. Just a few reasons you'd want your DJs to voice.

  34. So pretty! I just realized though that in RL, living next to the train tracks wouldn't be so great. The noise, the danger to kids and cats, the possibilities of PeeWee Herman jumping off a train to avoid listening to yet another chorus of "Jimmy Crack Corn and I Don't Care"...

  35. Homes: Victorian - all except the Doyle (I've found it difficult to work with though it's cute). My rl dream home style. Traditional especially the Winchester. Such great add-ons for all model. Stilt, Havana and Bayport - thought I wasn't going to be able to decorate any of these at first but I sure was wrong. Houseboat - I like Windlass best but I have used all of them. I find they lend themselves to creative ways to utilize the space plus ability to have a boat. Log Homes - so homey feeling. Wish the Grandview would be able to rotate whatever way you preferred. Frequently can't take best advantage of views but it's the one I kept coming back to. Campers some models are cute but very challenging for me. Less is more here. Chalet. So far these are doing nothing for me. I'm trying though. Landscapes: Victorian - Garden perfection! Lush! Nearly every region has a great view, even those without water. Log Home - I love walking around with one of my virtual dogs in these regions. It's peaceful especially when the lighting is at midnight. Also great for riding Teegle horses around too. Campers - same as log homes. Lots of unique spaces and places. I still kind of regret giving up one of them that overlooked a large lake. Stilt - Some regions feel cramped to me, but others have wide sweeping water views which I love. Traditional -Depends on the region. I've had some remarkable homes in these areas that have really made my heart sing. Houseboats - would have loved if these areas had a bit more interest to them but again, wide open water and that is excellent. Chalet. Honestly feel like things went wrong here. Every region looks exactly the same to me. Generic. I have no desire to explore.
