  1. I'm still doing the 52 weeks of color challenge! This is supposed to be Umber. I am always surprised, how different the color swatches look from how I always has imagined they look.

  5. This is becoming an increasingly surreal conversation. This shouldn't be -- isn't -- a conversation about "right versus left." At issue is whether it is legitimate to employ, or condone (tacitly or otherwise) a violent attempt to subvert democracy in the United States. The conservatives I know are as horrified by what happened on the 6th as I am -- because they believe in the principles of democracy. And a great many Republicans and Republican lawmakers, whatever you might think of their previous support for the soon-to-be-ex-president, are also horrified by what happened on the 6th,

  6. This thread is so disheartening to me because there is little recognition of the hatred directed toward People Of Color in this country. What we are seeing at its root is a continuation of the Civil War where white supremacists, now aided by neo-Nazi's and evangelicals, are attempting to create their distorted rendition of how the US should be ordered. How some people cannot understand the undercurrents, festering for years, which would incite this present debacle at the Capitol is beyond me, preferring instead to be overly-literal and focus on Trump's public speeches as proof he did not

  7. The whataboutism in this thread is boggling. I hope it's mere rhetoric. Anybody who really thinks BLM is remotely comparable to the Proud Boys has a serious problem with reality. Without justifying any individual act, anybody who thinks the US is on balance worse-off for the actions of BLM protestors over the summer needs to introspect on their connection with humanity. Same for any who think the US could ever be better-off for the actions of the Proud Boys.

  8. There just seems to be a lack of introspection. Many of the things that Trump and his supporters are being accused of, I just don't think are true and in fact I can name times when the accusers have done exactly what they accuse of. For example, Trump is accused of inciting people to commit acts of violence, but I watched his speech in its entirety on the day and I know I did not see any such call and recall him saying that we will march peacefully and patriotically. I can give you examples of violence being incited though:- Not inciting violence? Not encouraging

  10. I said "if" and I doubt everyone who voted for him still supports him after January 6th. Anyone who does, if the shoe fits, wear it. Challenging an election isn't insurrection. Repeatedly and without evidence calling it fraudulent and stolen then attempting to coerce government officials into changing the results is. I don't recall the part of 2016 where Nancy Pelosi egged on Democrats for months until they stormed the Capitol looking to kill the vice president.

  14. Rioting against institutionalized murder is quite a bit different to rioting against democracy. That's something I've learned talking with Americans in general, but it's a little hard for us to really understand how quite a few of their police departments are. A lot of the BLM riots were sparked by police gunning down unarmed black men, or in at least one case, outright executing them after they were already incapacitated. That's the kind of stuff the summer's riots were against. Even if someone might disagree on if that's how those events went down (I don't, but in case you do) that's ho

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick flowers in other people’s gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrib

  18. Republican Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy (until very recently, an ardent supporter of Trump), just now in the impeachment debate: and . . . This from the #1 Republican in the House of Representatives. But don't let that stop you from arguing that this is a "partisan" issue. If you are incapable of condemning, in a straight-forward and uncomplicated way, what happened on the 6th of January, and the President's role in it, without some long and tendentious distraction about how awful BLM is, or how misunderstood Trump is, then all you're doing is demonstrating yo

  19. We don't say that when people say e.g. to 'fight for women's rights' that they are inciting violence. To me this seems disingenuous or uncharitable at best. Especially when Trump explicitly said in his speech to protest peacefully. It seems to me like an attempt to pin blame on Trump for something he didn't incite at all.

  21. I shouldn't have to, but the arguments you put forward I think you are being disingenuous, because you intentionally attempt to downplay the actions committed by people on your side of the fence by suggesting I am comparing incitements of violence to actual violence, which is not correct.

  22. The two last releases was 3 regions each. But not alphabetical, 3 random ones, but starting with the same letter. I have no idea if they will continue to do it. Or if they will release the same time. And if they will say what their plan is? Unlikely. They do this a few times until we agree that this is how they are doing it, then turn around and do something else?

  23. Can we just get the elephant in the room out of the way here? "I'm not an American, but...." is saying "I'm a right winger similar to a Trumpist in my country and I feel...." in this context. It's not magical debate armour. Comparing a D list celebrity holding an effigy to insurrectionists is ridiculous. Comparing a 60+ year old singer saying "I'd blow up the white house" is not the same as actually putting pipe bombs in a government building. That is the difference between free speech (free speech some were vehemently defending the first couple of pages) and crossing the line into treaso

  24. Well, the Proud Boys were involved. And it is completely wrong -- again, I hope merely rhetoric -- to draw an equivalence between BLM events of the summer and last week's Capitol insurrection. At no time did anybody involved with BLM so much as suggest overthrowing the constitutionally elected government of the United States, which was the entire purpose of the attack on the Capitol. Nor did BLM protestors have a stated goal of slaughter, as did the insurgents at the Capitol. "DEFUND THE POLICE," though an unfortunate shorthand slogan, is in no way comparable to "KILL MIKE PENCE."

  25. Context matters. The context of months of claiming the election was rigged and stolen (with no evidence) and the only thing that stood between them and the far left socialist agenda of Joe Biden (let that bit of idiocy sink in for a moment) was overthrowing the result of the election. The results of which had been certified by every state and the District of Columbia, after multiple recounts and dozens of failed court cases. Leading up to a speech to a mob everyone knew was wound up for violence and telling them to go to the Capitol. Trump also told them he was going with him, instead he

  27. No. I describe one side as protesting, initially peacefully, against an organisation which kills people regardless of individual circumstance, while describing the other as obstructing the genuine outcome of the will of the majority of the people. No matter how you try to 'whataboutism' : the only intend of Trump and his supporters was to stop the outcome of an honest result.

  30. A tulle skirt. I like a lot of the colors...not sure of color. Here are some of the current styles to choose from...there are others things I'd need to go with it...but I think a chunky knit hand- made looking sweater, short boots and black tights is what I would wear with it. The first picture is really the one I want...but it comes in many colors. I'm not sure I'd wear sneakers with it though. A corset maybe (no just kidding - probably look like Madonna>)

I often wear clothes inside out without realizing it. My very fluffy and warm winter hat doesn't match my, very much bought in the kids department, gloves. I still wear snowpants and play in the snow with my, not very little, kids. I still play in sprinklers. I still make sand castles. I still make mud pies. I still catch bugs and frogs and toads and caterpillars and...I still play with playdough and kiddie board games. I play go fish, hide n see

  34. What exactly do you expect them to do? As with most things that are against the ToS, they will act appropriately when and if it is brought to their attention. They have given us, the residents, the power in the form of abuse reports. If you see something, say something. However, there are much better platforms for those groups to disseminate their hate that would reach a wider audience than SL.
