Following up with my alts Traditional. I will keep this one, I think, and abandon the other when Stilt homes are released. This is the largest room downstairs in Winchester with a wall. I edited the door off an add - on I had bought. I check if Jubran has textures for sale, if I remember. The blue/white on the floor was only 1 L. Jubran sell the new textures for 1 L a week or so, before they set it to full price. The white tiles behind the laundry furniture is 0 from ProMaterials. I decided the accent color before I won the hairdryer from a Second Spaces gacha, that was pure coincidence and the last thing I added.

I must have fun with this place before I abandon it. 😉 I have problems selecting pictures, even if I show only 2 rooms. I could not stop myself from showing 2 different angles. Even as I edited these, I added more. A tray of utensils and hanging kitchen towels. I have 13 Li left. This is because I set in the double doors in the door opening and closed off that room. (By the hat stand) The doors is edited off a LH Victorian door set. They work without having a frame, so it is no problem to set them in even if we can't link to the Linden Home. The add - on I showed previously have bath, bedroom and living room. So I do not need another bedroom. I could pull out some low li furniture, but I prefer to have a few Li left over for attaching beverages, books and other things from furniture.

While I'm happy with what I've managed to do in my Overlook log home, I never managed to fill my coastal Vic (the Hardy) enough. I liked the living room and the bedroom, and the photo wall in the dining area.

I picked up a Traditional the other day to work on and ended up with this one. I usually work and then abandon it but I could not bring myself to do that with this one. I abandoned my houseboat instead. This is how it turned out 🙂

I have been in the same home since the beginning of the releases. I checked out the others - just in case, lol - but, I've found being on the water is what matters to me. Nowwww with the stilt houses coming out, I'm thinking I may be tempted to bring back an alt and check them out. It would be especially lovely to be able to "catch one" half in and half out of the water and have some land to work with. I've also watched the "Game of Homes" with curiosity and no little amusement, never imagining I might one day join in! Lol Oh, and BTW, thanks to everyone who taught how to link objects. My home feels, well, more homey to me than it might have!

@Marianne Little, even if you don't want to have the hassle of a store: you could have a thriving business as an interior designer. Every time I see your homes, I swoon. I'm sure there are many design-challenged residents that feel the same.

Homes are assigned randomly. You get 5 tries every day, so keep rolling until you land one you like! There’s really a slim chance to pick a specifically region.

Because of my affiliation with another mesh head brand (disclaimer: I am a CSR and manager for Catwa) I was initially very hesitant to post in response to this thread. However, I am also a blogger whose passion is helping guys to look good in SL, and I like to pick up things like this to see what I can do with them. If I can get a blog post out of it that will help some guys in SL who are on a tight budget, then that's all to the good. And anyone who has come across my posts here on the forum where I'm helping people will see that I strive always to remain impartial, and that I never 'shill' for the brand that I work for. With that disclaimer out of the way, these are my personal opinions as someone who has worked extensively with male avatars and male mesh bodies and heads for many years. I'm going to bullet point with pros and cons, so as to keep this post as impartial as possible. Pros It is a full BoM body. That in itself is rare for a freebie. There are several free female bodies (eBody and LucyBody [although the latter's BoM relay costs L$200], off the top of my head) that are BoM but this is the only current male one that I know of. Previous gift releases from this store have always been in a single unchangeable skintone (usually extremely tanned, although there is one paler version out there somewhere). And it's not only a BoM body, it's also a BoM head. Body and head from the same creator means no neck seam, which is always a bonus. It is a full Bento body and head, and it comes with a basic face animation HUD. It will be available for a good length of time. The ad states one month, but this store's previous TeleportHub.com body/head combination gift was - as I recall - out for much longer than that. This will give the slowpokes plenty of time to get it It includes a developer kit. Cons The lip overlay. This was a deal-breaker for me the second I tried my first BoM skin on it. The mesh has an additional overlay on the lips that cannot be removed, since there is no HUD for controlling anything on the face (which is understandable, since this gift is intended for purely BoM use). No matter what skin you try (and I tried about 20, from different creators) this lip overlay will always make your lips look the same way (shiny and chapped at the same time) and from a distance it... well, it really doesn't look good. I found that no matter which skin I used, my lips looked very pouty from a distance. I assume this overlay is intended to give a sort of 'HD lip' look to the head, but it really really doesn't work. Screenshot of the lip overlay, taken mid-skin bake, so it's clearly visible: There are no eyes included with the head. This is a minor issue, since you can either use your system eyes or use third-party unrigged mesh eyes. However, if you want to use unrigged mesh eyes you will also need an eye alpha, since this body is fully BoM. Those are simple (and free) to make if you don't already have one, but for the average guy that's an additional bit of hassle. Also, the lacrimal is very dark and non-removable. Lastly, another minor quibble, but a lot of guys are going to dislike the eyelashes. I'm not sure why they're so thick and 'clumpy' but they really do look like you've overdone the mascara (and then slept in it for good measure!) So there are four pros and three cons. This is a gift (well, a L$10 gift, given the group join fee) so it feels churlish to say anything negative about it. A lot of guys will get it and it may be their introduction into mesh heads and bodies. But - given how many gorgeous, extremely high quality freebies there are for women out there right now, from the two free bodies (one of which fits Maitreya clothing), to the L$150 full featured group gift Bento head from Akeruka - I can't help but feel that once again the guys are left trailing a bit. That said, kudos to Altamura for their generosity. They have released multiple full head and body gifts like this in the past, and they always participate in the L'Homme Magazine quarterly freebie round (previous gifts have included full Altamura and Omega head and body skin appliers on two occasions). Would I recommend this gift to Mr Average in SL? Probably not, but that's with some caveats: if money is tight enough that you can't afford a full priced Bento head and body combination, if you are willing to spend a considerable amount of time working with this head and body, and if you are prepared to overlook that lip overlay then you should be able to create something that you're happy with. I spent over two hours working with it, trying on multiple skins, playing with the sliders (and remember: this is my job in SL, so I'm no slouch at this stuff) and in the end I gave up. But I have some pretty exacting standards that may not be your standards, so what I see as deal-breakers may be perfectly acceptable to you. And it's only L$10, so what have you got to lose? (Except, y'know, L$10, but hey...)

I spend a lot of time right here at home enjoying the ocean breezes and beautiful weather!

Checking out the SL birthday fun over the weekend wearing my, at the moment, favorite comfy clothes. They kindly supplied a nice picnic spot where I shared my lunch with some ducks. So many interesting places, but I especially liked the underwater explorer, and was curious about the runes.

I have always gravitated towards light colored eyes in SL, but I LOVE these dark eyes so much!

Welcome to the Linden Homes land forum, Libbie! This is my go-to source for finding out about new region releases and abandoned homes. It comes down to luck and perseverance. You can’t choose what region you will get when you click on a home style. You hold your breath and hope that it’s a great location. The log homes were the last major release (over 4,000) a few months ago. The newest style — the stilt homes that were previewed at the SL17B celebration won’t be coming out until the fall or winter. In the meantime, there seems to be a Victorian region released every few days. As far as traditional homes go, you have to rely on abandons. Those are few and far between. I got lucky recently with an abandoned Traditional. I posted my view in “”Beautiful Abandons”. I look forward to seeing your post about your landing your first dream home in Bellisseria!

The marketplace is almost useless for shopping. Perhaps in 2011 it was okay, but now? No. You have to wade through oceans of long-outdated garbage, irrelevant nonsense padded with keyword-bait, and 27 copies of the same item in different colours. They should bring back corporal punishment for anyone who suggests "have you tried looking on the marketplace?" to any post or thread asking for shopping recommendations. Edit: Second pet peeve; the forums don't give you a 2-3 minute grace period where you can edit to fix typos without it being marked as an edit. Others do have this, and it's really useful.
