I have not read this entire thread so if this has been asked I apologize. This acquisition is subject to regulatory approval. One part of the approval process is gathering public comment. If you oppose this what would you say to the regularity authority? I don't think "It threatens my Second Life presence" would fly very well. And if LL did not see that this would scare the bejesus out of its users, that is its Customers, it boggles my mind. They need to explain how this will affect the Lindex. Any negative affect on the Lindex could destroy the SL economy. The overall stability of the Lindex has been key in SL's survival. Will LL suddenly have to but $L from Thune to fulfill my weekly premium bonus??????

I like to make my skins different from the 'perfect features' of most skins. I won't pay the 700-900 that the skinners want to charge for a head either. I did shell out for a Modelesque Velour body skin, because I love the tummy, but my head has a freebie. Then I add all sorts of BoM add-ons, mainly from Izzie's, to put in the freckles, creases, veins, and spots. So my take on your head is 'great', whichever one you want. I like the cuts, they add character.

- Been fighting extreme stuttering when panning side to side for months and have tried everything from vsync to gsync and all the Nvidia options on/off plus in game settings. Sometimes changing a few settings will work and it becomes super smooth for a day or two and then the choppiness comes back out of nowhere. It doesn't matter if I'm alone in a sandbox or in a busy club. It tends to be less active when I'm high up in a sky box alone but it's still present. I've never experienced it this bad until about February/March and it's getting worse. I'm on new computer with a 4080 and Intel9-13 - 240hz monitor. I've run out of ideas and tested with Alchemy, FS and SL viewer. I have no idea where the issue stems from. I've reinstalled Viewers on Cdrive and secondary drive testing, cleared cache, deleted graphics driver and reinstalled, changed power settings factory reset computer, tried on another gaming computer but now need some guidance. Here is what i see, but normally it's even worse than this and it rubber bands/hitches and glitches constantly when moving. I've tried capping fps with both Nvidia and MSI to even 30fps but it's still there. Ive been filming for a year but I cant anymore with the choppiness. I only know two things for sure about Linden Research... it has owners and we are not them. The Tilia acquisition is part one of an exit strategy. Second Life is insignificantly small and not growing. When the cash cow stops mooing, the jig is up. Adult content will not be our downfall. We might be like George Bailey in despair, worth more dead than alive. AI data models need feeding. Linden Research owns the rights to everything that has ever been in your inventory. I made a dance pad and have animations in it but I don't have a script. So I wanted to have a script so my pads work. I've been hunting the market to no avail, tried youtube (could only find how to make a dance hud), and things that essentially make another version of spot on. OnlyFans is, relative to SL, absolutely HUGE, and much, much higher profile. It's also an entirely different sort of platform. I am not arguing that companies are not under pressure to remove or hide adult content. I'm suggesting that such moves tend to target embarrassingly high profile platforms. I don't think SL qualifies. And the adult content that is here isn't as high profile as the stuff on OnlyFans. I just don't think anyone is likely to care. I'm not sure that's true: Oberwager no longer speaks as the CEO of Tilia: these are no longer LL's "customers." And in the meantime, we do have this, which is hardly sounding ominous: This is all highly speculative, and events may of course prove you correct. But I think that the actual language used in these announcements is more likely to support my conclusions. We'll see!

It's not hard to hook a chatbot into SL. The problem is setting up one that has some clue about what it's doing in SL. There's an anime sim which has some smart chatbots now. But you have to have an anime avatar to visit. They're strict about roleplay.

Yes, I called it an acquisition. I said that it evidently was not a hostile one, and noted that it was being couched as a partnership. That language matters -- as does this statement: "As part of the transaction, Thunes and Linden Research, Inc. (“Linden Lab”), the current majority owner of Tilia, have agreed to an exclusive five-year partnership in which, post closing, the cross-border payments company will provide payment processing and pay-outs to Linden Lab, leveraging Thunes’ global network – allowing gamers to pay, and to receive money real-time, in a more cost-efficient way and with increased transparency." And this quote from LL's owner: "It will be business as usual for our people and our customers as we bring Tilia and Thunes together.” Again, it's possible that LL is hiding something from us ("lying"), but this language very clearly suggests to me that this "five-year partnership" includes assurances, or at least the presumption, that Thunes isn't going to demand radical changes to SL as a condition of that continued relationship. Again, in general, profit-making corporations only get into the business of imposing "moral standards" or whatever you want to call it when they perceive that not doing so will hurt their bottom line. What that generally means is that corporations are responding to bad PR or external pressures when they impose such restrictions. The fact that SL is so clearly beneath the notice of most media, even when a series of putatively scandalous allegations have been made against it publicly, suggests to me that there is no pressure upon Thunes to do anything about adult content in SL. Why would they lose and/or possibly destroy one of the few customers that the Tilia acquisition brings with it merely on a whim? That may of course change, as circumstances change. But that was always going to be the case. (Flickr is annoying as hell, but their focus is not upon "cleaning up" their platform so much as it is upon encouraging or compelling its users to move to paid accounts so that they can advertise or host adult content. Adult content is not being removed wholesale -- except in some cases where it is happening in violation of Flickr's ratings rules. There's still no end of nudity, adult content, and outright porn on Flickr.) So far, I'm not seeing any reason to panic about any of this. Time may prove me wrong, but I just don't believe that LL walked into this blindly, without being sure that the sale would not scupper their only remaining revenue and profit source.

Having had a few hours to digest this, I've decided to postpone panic. It is perhaps mildly surprising -- at least the timing is -- as it seemed like Linden Research had ambitions for Tilia. On the other hand, maybe this was the exit strategy all along. On the third hand, maybe priorities no longer are what they were under the late Mr. Altberg. I suspect we will never know. Based on what little we do know, I don't see much reason for immediate concern. I think we can safely assume that Thunes know what they are getting into, including the adult contents. They are probably also aware that the Lindens have been more than hinting at embracing adult, er, experiences in The Near Future. I bet this side of SL is safe. That said, I do think it's odd that the Lab did not announce this themselves; only Thunes did. In cases like this, both parties usually send out press releases. Why the (pointless) silence?
