  2. Type "invisi" in inventory search. Then delete everything that shows up. - Save favorite old shoes if you wish. Delete the separate invisiprim and use an alpha cut or layer instead. (I still keep a favorite pair of sculpted "Barnacle Heels", even though I'll never wear them.)

  6. I tested the water a few times at other grids. But meh... far behind SL. The social aspect far less too in most other places. SL is the only grid I visit on an almost daily basis. For me Our Wonderful World is by far the number 1.
  7. I haven't tried any other virtual worlds recently apart from OpenSim Grid, which I visit occasionally - and that looks and works exactly the same as SL, which it's based on. But in the past I've tried other worlds or watched videos of them. I tried Sinespace, which looked promising at the time. SL's 'Achilles heel' has always been performance - mainly slow rezzing and lag. But when it works properly and you happen to be in a nicely constructed environment with convincing looking avatars (even if they're dragons!), SL is amazing. So, if good performance is your priority and you're not too bothered about cartoony avatars and environment, there are probably other worlds that might appeal more.
  8. That's certainly an interesting idea. There are all sorts of things that would need to be sorted out, of course. What to do when the mix of attendees changes? Is geolocation sufficient? Would the improved latency be sufficient to make much of a difference for practical purposes. I'll think on it.
  9. There were no textures from this tree designer. I rez these trees about every 2 years, so no way am I going to rezz all 1000 of my trees to add a snapshot for the new preview option. I really dislike the preview option - all it does is delay the opening of my inventory window. If there is a texture in the folder, I can look at it with one click. Most of my landscape objects have no textures included. The preview would not help me find a designer personal code name either. Only one of the 3 trees I needed has Maple in the name. My answer was to use subfolders like I been doing since 1978. I find many items are mis-spelled by the designer too. Some because they are not English speaking creators, and use the spelling for Austria or whatever. And some just can't spell even if they speak English.

  11. What size is your inventory? FS can time out if it takes too long to load. But there is something in the network or servers that can increase loading times more than usual for large or flat inventories. I have an alt with a 240K inventory that needs serious unflattening. It took me 5 tries to log it in last night. It would get stuck about 1/2 way thru for 10 mins, until it timed out. Only cure was to keep trying until it decided to finish. Happens erratically, with this account. I am tempted to just delete about 200K of it, since I never use it anyway.

  13. Use the inventory preview option to.show what the trees look like without having to rez them. You could have also put the MK-BT tree folder into another folder named Maple Trees?
  14. I run one of the largest car forums on the internet, deleting every post a user has made is work for forum admins, if the user wants deleted, we can delete the account and the posts still stay but under the guise of "guest account" or "unregistered" . but SL and the forum here are a bit different from a normal database standard, it's tied into SL directly with that database so it pulls the data from it, using the username and password SL uses, if it was fully stand alone and they made people register for the forum directly instead of linking the database like they do, then it would be like I said at the start. not sure how that works purging it off a forum with the setup LL has.
  15. I was replacing my winter trees with spring trees last night. The trees I was looking for were named: "MK-BT Bo Maple M1 v1-1a tf-3a derived 1 DBsp1" and "MK Ultimate Sc M7 v2-0 tf-4 DBsp1" So I must remember to search for DBsp1 when looking for these trees using search. As it is, the trees were in my Landscaping/Trees/Spring/designer name subfolder, although I still had to rezz several trees to find the right ones. Using SL search would be useless, with my 100K inventory of landscaping objects.
  16. Yes- I'm using the official SL viewer, and don't like that it forces you to make the upgrade. I used Firestorm for 11 years and didn't have the same problems with upgrades, plus it gives you a choice to not upgrade for a while. Upgrades with FS started causing me the same types of problems about 2 years ago, and I could not find a solution. I am using an Acer laptop and it does meet all the SL requirements for SL play. I don't understand why sometimes I can be inworld for hours with no problems, then the next day/week I'm getting frozen/ booted out frequently. What other information do you need to (possibly) help? Thank you!
  17. It shouldn't be impossible to do what you're looking for, or even particularly difficult, but yeah, there's really no telling what no-mod scripts might be doing. you'd probably need/want something written from scratch. I would actually recommend 3 prims, the first or "root" prim defines the center of rotation for llTargetOmega(). if an avatar sits on the root prim while it's spinning and the sit-target doesn't have a large offset, they will spin in place like a balerina, which doesn't sound like what you want. You can of course set a different offset in the script, but for things like this, I usually find it's easier to change the position and rotation of a prim than to get your head around the numbers in the script.
  18. this truly sucks, unless im missing something.. but I followed was written above and it allowed me to sit 2 avatars until, I added the new poses into the mix, it must be something the creator has put int the no mod scripts because it keeps saying [20:03:04] Object: Sorry xUnknownDesiresx, there is no room for you to sit here. but once the poses are removed it allowes it and nothing stops me, bummer
  19. SL has the best creation tools, and the biggest community. Roblox and Minecraft have bigger communities, but they are more gaming focused, and too kid friendly for me. I don't want to have to worry about everything I make being PG. I have tried many other pre-Oculus grids, and none of them come close in terms of content, tools, and population. Some have some super cool features (see: portals in Croquet/Open Cobalt), and some have tiny, yet loyal fan bases, but they never had the pull to get critical mass. Just a reminder: OpenSim is still out there, and it's not as primitive as many of you might think. Just look at their megaregions, or OSSL. SL scripters drool over the things OS scripters can do. There's not much content, or people there, and no real economy. I like to run it locally sometimes, just to doodle around with. In 2024, most competitors to SL are worlds that run in head mounted displays, like the Oculus... If you like head mounted displays, VR Chat seems like a big name in the sector, but all it really does is give VR platforms a bad name. VR Chat is a bunch of walled gardens. Imagine SL, but every land owner has their own full grid, so they are never next to anybody. Also, every grid is invite only. The public spaces are full of greifers and kids being obnoxious. If you can survive the noob areas long enough, I hear you can get invited to some super cool communities, where a lot of cool stuff is happening, but I've never been able to stay interested that long. I have friends who are obsessed with staying immersed in VR Chat, making rooms and places to hang out for their little clique, which is neat, I guess... but I personally don't see anything but greifers. Worst community in VR, IMHO. I also score VR Chat as worst content in VR, just because the noob areas are so tiny. Maybe they have more content, but if I can't see it, then I don't care about it. Zuckerberg's Horizons actually has a really nice in world content creation interface. LL could learn a thing or two from that. Last time I was there, they actually staffed their welcome areas, too, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The world is super PG, like Roblox, and the setup is very gamey, and Roblox inspired. I kinda liked it, but at the same time, I will never spend more than 15 minutes making anything there. For me, it's a question of trust. I know how Zuckerberg runs Facebook, so I know what to expect from his Horizons virtual world. If I spend months, or years, making things in Zuckerberg's Horizons, then at any moment, his AI can decide that that shoe or castle I built looks too much like a nipple or *****. Then they nuke all my work, ban me for life, and isolate me from my family and friends who are on their platform. Plus, ever since they reneged on their promise not to require a FB login for Oculus, if they cut off my Facebook account, they effectively shut down my Oculus hardware, so I can't do any VR with it, at all, and I lose all my creations on other VR platforms. So I'd be out $400, lots of time, and social connections, all over a rogue AI who doesn't know the difference between a hat and a nipple. That's not worth the risk. Or, alternatively, maybe they will just not let people see what I make, because it upsets advertisers or political allies, so they end up wasting all my time and energy, while I make things that nobody will ever see, and I don't know that until I publish, and am quietly shadow banned by some politburo in Silly Con Valley. So I see doing any work for Zuckerberg as a losing game. I don't create for money, I do it for fun, and to show friends my stuff, but on Horizons, I would want money to do it. If Zuckerberg isn't paying me enough for my creations, to make up for the risk of creating for his AI moderators, and paying me up front for it, then I'm going to work on somebody else's grid. Somebody who won't trash my creations for no reason. RecRoom is like Zuckerberg's Horizons, but it's even more kid focused. It's basically a Virtual World that's completely dedicated to Nerf gun shootouts (Hasboro is missing a golden sponsorship opportunity here). It has a much bigger population than Horizons, but the population is less mature. They're nice, but you know... you're hanging out with middle schoolers in a room full of nerf guns and dodge balls, so you aren't going to be debating the finer points of Aristotle in this world. Content creation is also a bit more clunky than Horizons, but it's not bad. I met some German school teachers there, who seemed to be having fun using it for history education. I think Rec Room is the closest to is Roblox. If I wanted what Rec Room is selling, I'd just play Roblox. Fun world, but in the end, it's just a Roblox clone in a headset. Neos is a really cool virtual world. Small community, but very creative, highly technically literate community. Most of them are furries. They will help you tweak settings and import mesh, and build things. There's a LOT of settings in Neos, too! Neos is like the Linux of head mounted VR. You can tweak all your hardware and software settings, nothing is abstracted away. The place is just a busy sandbox. You have to make the mesh and textures in something like Blender, of course, and then you import it and make stuff. If you want to create for a head mounted VR platform, hang out in Neos. They don't have as much content as other grids, because it is a small community, but IME, nobody beats a Neos user in per-capita output of VR content. Big Screen is the best hang out spot on the Oculus. It's got one gimmick, but it's a really, really good gimmick. You log in, and go to a movie theater, and watch movies with strangers in a public room, or with friends in your own private room. People can talk, throw popcorn, and draw graffiti in the air during the movies. Some rooms will kick you for acting up, some rooms are a party atmosphere. Some rooms have a DJ instead of a movie. The rooms generally have a limit of 15 people, so they don't get too overly crazy, but you can still have a lot of fun with 15 people. The 15 person limit makes it difficult to get into some popular rooms, which is annoying. I wasn't able to get into the 3D Godzilla marathon today. If you wait around enough, slots open up sometimes. If you want to set up your own room, you can rent movies from Big Screen directly (2 days at a time, IIRC), or stream off your home PC's desktop screen, or stream off a web host. I think most people with public rooms stream their movies off cheap web hosts. They also have integration with a bunch of streaming services, so if you want to watch, for example, Prime Video, with your friends: You set up a room, and you give your friends the link, and you all log in with your prime subscriptions, and watch it together. This is a good selling point to not share Prime subscriptions, because for it to work, everybody needs a prime subscription. You can stream just about anything. You can stream twitch, which means you can stream your own web cam. Big Screen is not really a sandbox where the sky is the limit, but it is the best head mounted virtual world, IMHO. Financially speaking, I think they are doing a lot better than other virtual worlds, because they recently came out with their own headset, called the Big Screen Beyond. If I wanted to spend the money for a new VR headset right now, I would get it, for it's small form factor. So, IMHO... I think Big Screen is the closest competitor to SL, in terms of where I'd like to be on any given Saturday night. They both do different things, though. SL has a bigger population, better avatars, more content to explore, and better music. Big Screen is better for watching movies and video with friends. I like to watch video with friends in SL, too. My video setup is an AVEN TV, streaming off my google drive. I don't think Big Screen has easy Google Drive streaming like AVEN does, but they might. I haven't looked deeply into setting up Big Screen streaming in a few years, so who knows?
  20. I get those messages too, since I am in a state that has barred access to areas like that I've never been to that region. Annoying. Together with the avatarlife spam I keep getting regardless of blocking the object sending it.
  21. I'm always up to learning and this is pushing what I know so far, actually I know some scripting but this.. so let me see, what your saying from my understanding I need to somewhere in a script include the link sit target? so if I have 1 prim I need to make another which would make 2, expect you like those together then you add the sit targets and adjust from there? sorry just a bit confused but up for the challenge.

  23. I prefer Waterhorse, but ironically, the Waterhorse can't swim, but the Teegle can. I have both, but my standard ride is the Waterhorse.
  24. The 'correct' solution is to add extra prims to your object, one for each person who is going to sit on it, and then use llLinkSitTarget() to set a sit target for each of the prims, for example: default { state_entry() { // optionally prevent avatars from sitting on the root prim rather than designated seats: llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast(1,[SCRIPTED_SIT_ONLY,TRUE]); llLinkSitTarget(2, <0,0,0.1>, ZERO_ROTATION); llLinkSitTarget(3, <0,0,0.1>, ZERO_ROTATION); // if more sit target prims, repeat similarly. . . } } then, when sitting on the link, avatars will sit with an orientation and position determined by the rotation and position of the new prims. editing the prims while an avatar is seated on it will NOT adjust the seated avatar, to make adjustments with this method, the avatar has to stand up and sit back down after any change. -- A less correct solution would be to make sure you are 'outside' (not within the convex hull of some mesh or prim) and make your single prim something relatively large that 'looks like' it has room for more than one person to sit on. Sitting without designated sit-targets is possible, but IMO rather fiddly.
  25. I made a video for Caitlin for our second anniversary. I had to show it to her a little early for RL reasons. It has some adult content, so I'm linking to it from here:
  26. Over the past few months, I've noticed a stark decline in my marketplace sales, to the tune of around 70%. As a reseller, I've always prided myself on maintaining consistent sales figures, but this recent drop has really thrown me for a loop. What's particularly troubling is that this decline coincides with the implementation of the new search system on the marketplace platform. It seems that since this update, my products aren't being as prominently featured or discovered by potential buyers. While I understand that algorithms change and updates are made to improve user experience, this unforeseen consequence has significantly impacted my business....sigh.
