Under the previous MP system we could mark items as inactive which hid them from being seen.  I did that with my seasonal items, and a great deal of my items are seasonal.  I just tried to make one of my items inactive and now the whole interface has changed that if it can still be done, I didn't see how.  I also tried to activate one of my inactive listings.  Couldn't figure out how to do that either, if possible now.

It was recommended by the MP previously to make items inactive rather than delisting them if the merchant didn't want them seen for whatever reason.

Does anyone who has worked with the new interface know if there is a way to make items inactive now, please?

I bulk-edited a set of items where 1 of the items was affected (I edited 4 listings of same item/different colors), and now I have a second one that is now messed up, where

MINE: URL, item description, perms, price

THEIRS: pictures, and probably related items, since there are none and mine should have related items.

When I add that one to the cart, it works properly - but the pictures are wrong.

And in my other listings where the pictures and related items are mine but the URL and other information is the other merchant's, the other merchant's item gets added to the cart.

So it seems that anytime you edit an item you might get lucky and you might not.

Also, when I go to revise the newly messed up item with someone else's picture, their picture shows in my Editing Screen.

So it put the other Merchant's item in your cart, eh? Very interesting. They're not even pulling up the correct Product ID. If you click on the "DARK RED EYE" product link in the Cart summary detail list, does it take you back to your borked listing or to that Merchant's listing?

It's very hard-headed about showing you the borked item too. I clicked the product link from the Shopping Cart Summary page and it takes me to .... the same borked listing.

I think their error is a bit deeper than "just search", but we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thank you for testing it out Sera.

It takes me back to my borked listing.  (I was almost afraid to click on it...lol.)  The ummm, X-rated one's description doesn't even look like a MP listing but more like a single's ad.  I clicked on the "designer name" in that listing and get a blank MP screen which, to me, indicates that person has no products on the MP, although at this point...who knows!

From the Manage Listings page, click the checkbox above the actual listings section (the bottom section, not the Unassociated listing which is at the top). That will checkmark all the listings shown. Then down at the bottom under "Modify Selected Items" .. set the dropdown to "Unlist". Click "GO" and that batch of listings is unlisted and inactive. You can easily List them again later, either one at a time or using this Bulk Actions technique.

And don't worry, you're not violating TOS. The ban against delisting and relisting is meant to stop people from taking down a scam/stolen product then posting it again under a different name or listing. In that case they actually delete the original listing, then using the same product, create a brand new listing for it and continue scamming customers.

Thanks so much, Darrius :)  I would go make my whole store inactive for the moment, but then my listings might not ever get straightened out.

This reminds me of a pledge prank when I was in college.  While we were in a meeting, the pledges switched all of our dresser drawers - they took one of my drawers and put it in another person's dresser, BUT that didn't necessarily mean their drawer was in *my* dresser. Oh no...it was a mess!  For the rest of the night we were all playing "Find our drawers" (errr, dresser drawers, that is).

ROFL!! Okay, you did it. Old nursing joke my mom told me:

Three student nurses were sitting in the cafeteria ogling the new handsome Resident and drooling over his good looks. Being fairly young, they decided they would each play one prank on him then tomorrow they'd gather for lunch again and share what they'd done.

The next day at lunch, they gathered around the same table.

The first nurse said "I went into his office, switched ALL his patient folders around. Put the M's in the Z's, the D's in the R's ... just totally messed up everything in his filing cabinet." They all laughed at the mess he was gonna have to straighen out.

Then the second nurse said "I went into his office and started going through his desk. I found a box full of condoms, so I took a pin and poked a hole in every single one of them."

... the third nurse fainted.

The best part is .. my MOM told me that one. Now how many can say they got their favorite semi-dirty joke from their mom, eh?

Hey, she was a nurse. Nothing fazes a nurse, not after years and years of doing what they do every day, all day. (And when she was a nurse, they had to wear high heels and skirts to work. GACK!)

This production was over a year in development.  You surely didn't think you'd seen it all yet over the last few days?  I'm on the edge of my seat until the finale.  Anything could happen and it's not over until the fat lady is sold and delivered to the wrong customer, with the merchant left unpaid.

Okkkkkkkaaayyyyy...I got a response to the ticket I opened re: this issue.  The reply is as follows:

Case: 01379655

Type: General Marketplace Issues
Status: Waiting for Customer Acceptance
  Hello Czari Zenovka!

Thank you for contacting Linden l;ab Support. I'm sorry, but as of March 21, 2012, Linden Lab  no longer supports the Magic Box application. Please visit http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Marketplace-Direct-Delivery-migration-guide/ta-p/1293139 to upgrade to the new Marketplace Direct Delivery Service.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Regards,

JenniferB Scout
Linden Lab Support

Where was this March 21, 2012 date plucked from?!?!?!  I re-opened the ticket and stated that, per the link SHE provided, the DD migration schedule is:

Here is the planned migration schedule in 2012:

  • April 2 through 13, 2012: Inworld Q&A sessions on using and migrating to Direct Delivery
  • April 18, 2012: All listings priced L$10 and lower must use Direct Delivery

May 16, 2012: Magic Boxes no longer allowed for any Marketplace listing

Perhaps the key word in JenniferB's response was supported instead of allowed. However, I also noted in my response these issues were also occurring for merchants who HAD migrated to DD and provided the Jira link.

With that clever little word "supported" I'm expecting LL to say they can't help me anymore.

As an ironic sidenote, just after receiving this ticket "response," I received email notice of another sale.

EDIT TO ADD: For those of you who have migrated to DD, are having these issues, and submitted a ticket, what is the response you are getting?  LL will have to come up with something besides "Magic Boxes are no longer supported."

So here I am again... it's 9 am and I'm having a cup of coffee and looking at my listings still borked and thinking about what I should do. I have to go to RL work soon... can't believe this is still not fixed. This is outrageous! In 6 years I've never seen a mess like this in the the marketplace (xslstreet)

Going to try to make those items innactive.

All I can say is WOW. I did learn some time ago that Scouts are really no help at all, but this is just blatant ignorance and laziness.  That's insane and ridiculous and they really need to improve their Customer Service team. STILL!

Sorry to hear you got hit Sera. I wonder if even if people's own listing don't seem borked, they have products are showing on someone else's listings.  The way things look messed up, I wouldn't be surprised. Going to check if those who have their products on my listings have borked listings too.

Ok, so that everyone knows, I clicked on one of the merchants who is showing on my listings and her listings are not borked. So she isn't even aware she's in this mess. That means a lot of people who are seeing their products ok on their listings and think they were lucky and were not affected, might in fact be. Unbelievable!

Could be a coincidence but every borked store i have looked at so far, when you sort the listings to 'Age-Oldest First' you find the borked items are the oldest ones. I just looked at a friends store & theres only one item borked & its the oldest one. At the very least this could help merchants with many pages of listings identify a problem or lack of.

Thanks Pearl. :)  I feel fortunate that only a handful of mine are messed up. But it's very disappointing overall.  I think way more people are affected than we realize.

Well, they are doing a maintenance shutdown tomorrow at 9:30 am SLT, fingers crossed that it will address these issues at least in part...

Mine are not the oldest but they are all the same type of product: hairbases.

And you guys know what? This has been happening for quite a while because I remember I was looking for something on the marketplace and saw an item that had a a different picture than the product advertised.. and that happened at least more than a week ago. I wonder how long this has been going on unnoticed...

Czari,

I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open, just aghast at the level of disrespect this response demonstrates. I used to head up a support department, and I can promise you that had any of my staff answered a customer complaint in this manner, I would have escorted them to HR for their exit interview ... on the spot.

I just cannot believe that the limits of support stated in the response are real. Clearly someone at the 3rd party support agency totally misunderstood the dates and timing. But beyond that, I cannot believe that this particular agent blew you off with such disregard and disrespect. It's just .. just ... I don't even have the words for it. Unacceptable.

I'm glad you posted this here. Let's see what Brooke and/or CTL have to say about this when they come into work. I'm hoping they fix this (the bug / issue) as quickly as possible. But I'm also hopeful that they correct the miscommunication between the Lab and the outside support agency.

Good morning Pearl. I guess you didn't get my last post to you. Because the Dev Team was so focused on getting the site to run acceptably fast (an issue that impacts both merchants and shoppers, thus has a bit higher priority), they didn't get a chance to address this issue yesterday. However they have schedule another maintenance downtime today starting at 9:30am SLT. I'm hopeful that release also fixes this issue as well.

Let's cross our fingers, eh?

Good Morning Darrius! I hope they fix this soon. I did a test and bought what should have been my hairbase demo for 0L, got a tree house for 1L and when I looked at the box, the treehouse shoudl have costed 280L.

I contacted the other merchant because I was interested in knowing if she actually did receive the 1L payment or if this is all happening without her being aware, but she hasn't been online since 2011.

Another thing I found out is that even if your listings appear to be fine when you open your storefront, they might be listed in someone elses' store as a different product without you being aware, with the wrong price.

In my opinion they should shut it down until they fix this.

I can't even unlist the items since they aren't mine lol

Good mornin, everbody!

What I really don't understand about this whole freakin mess is why ANYBODY in the commerce team was allowed to go home for the night last night!  Why weren't they all made to stay there until this ridiculousness was fixed?

There should have been a message sent out saying: "We understand the magnitude of this problem and will be working through the night until we fix the problems.  You may notice periods of the marketplace being down while we work on this issue."

Instead, what I hear them saying is:  "Oh well...we'll work on it tomorrow sometime."

I am losing what little patience I have saved up for them in San Francisco.
