Why cant i see friends online or my friends see me online?

Hi all. I have made some friends on SL but now for some reason they never show as online. I know they are online becuase im with them in the same room and chatting with them. They say they havent blocked me either. Is there some setting i have to change?

If you'd like some interesting reading (and several suggested workarounds), take a look at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-85 .  You may find something useful in there, perhaps even in the suggestions right at the top of the page.  If not, and if you have good observations to add, do it.  That's how LL's developers track down a problem and finally get it resolved.
