Jenni Darkwatch
Might be a stupid question so early, but does anyone have any info what the criteria will/could/may be to get into that program, once it goes live (I'm guessing not until at least mid this year)? Rolig Loon
I don't know. I just added the group and will wait to see what happens. I suppose that LL will eventually have a filtering process of some kind.
Innula Zenovka
In a brief conversation on twitter on 22 December, Rodvik was talking about "some kind of minimal sign-up program" intended to avoid people making throw-away alts, coming in and making griefing tools, and then vanishing. https://twitter.com/rodvik/status/149990796735680513 https://twitter.com/#!/rodvik/status/149990954798030848 https://twitter.com/#!/rodvik/status/149995385060982784
Jenni Darkwatch
Thanks. We'll just have to wait and see. I do agree with the need to protect more powerful tools from griefers btw, it's just a fine line between making the tools available for too many and making it practically unavailable for everyone but a few creators. I am definitely excited about the new tools (including pathfinding). More shiny for geeks.
Triple Peccable
I agree completely, Jenni. Poor LL. No matter where they draw that line, there will be *lots* of unhappy folks. I am glad I am not in their shoes.
WolfBaginski Bearsfoot
That makes a bit of sense, but unless they cut off scripting for everyone not "qualified" it ain't gonna work. And quite a few scripts I have need some editing to work, even if it's just changing a UUID for a texture which is being animated.
Jack Abraham
Seems to me the most important issue is that people with access to the experience tools be accountable. I think even a L$10 fee to register an experience would discourage a lot of griefing. But it's not up to me. The Lab has a history of hitting their feet no matter what they aim at, but the last few weeks have seen some noticable improvement; I'm trying not to get my hopes up, lest they be dashed again. (Above emphasis mine.) I just posted some wild speculation about this elsewhere: Maybe we (or I, anyway) have been confused in thinking that the "professional creator" is the scripter. Rather, it could be that the "professional" is the creator of some new "experience" thing, which may consist of scripts from somebody else altogether. I think I could see how that would be workable. I hope a Linden posts more details soon.
