I successfully uploaded a .dae file to the SL beta mesh grid today and then about 30 minutes later I tried to re-upload the same file and my viewer crashed from "WARNING: LLModel::loadModel: LoD data is invalid!" I haven't been able to enable the skin weight display option without my viewer crashing from not having enough memory. What is going on?!

Try deleting the slm file. This is a file used to automatically fill in the upload settings when a filenames is re-used. It is in the same location as the dae file, but with slm extension instead of dae. It often causes problems. You can also undo its effect by clicking the reset buitton in the uploader. Or you can turn off the slm mechanism permanently by setting MeshImportUseSLM to FALSE using Advanced->Show Debug Settings menu.
