Question

Hi Technical :smileysad: I am having a problem with my Draw Distance Setting . Meaning if I don't keep it below 28 max. ! , I can not function in MOST places. I am not sure how to correct this so I can enjoy a view and function , within reason of lag etc ,

I have an account in another avatar life and with the same camera settings I have no loss of control. Smooth sailing. It used to be the case for me in SL. I miss it.

Can you help me ? Do I need to submit a ticket , not sure what that is . Thanks , will hope to hear good news soon , LexiTruth Resident

You don't say what viewer you are using. If it is the newest Linden Lab release, that is most likely your problem. With the advent of MESH (which I am guessing your other virtual world doesn't have) the viewer took a BIG hit in performance. Now you need a fairly hefty computer to perform functions that worked easily before. You might try downloading Phoenix or another 1.x  version  third party viewer .  Linden labs has removed the old 1.235 viewer from the download directory I hear. The TPV come both with and without mesh.

You can also turn down the quality of your graphics in order to increase your draw distance. Not sure if that would be acceptable to you or if it would help. I doubt a ticket will do you much good. If you can't use the default LL 3.x viewer then I doubt they will tell you to go to a third party. They might and if so, gold stars for them. The truth is that lots of folks can no longer use version 2 and 3 viewers because their systems are older. Before I got my new machine a year old (especially purchased for SL photography and filming, I could ONLY use 1.x viewers. 2s which were out then just crashed my system after a few minutes.
