Hello krisy66 and welcome to SL Forums. In Viewer 3, give the command: Menu Me --> Movement --> Stop animating me. Normally it will fix your problem. If no, relog. If still the problem remains make an avatar test under Menu Develop (Ctrl+Alt+Q if you don't see it) --> Avatar --> Character tests --> Test male / female. This will remove everything from your avatar which can cause the problem. After you can change outfit again. Good luck.
