how can i build a car?

i'm new to the car business and i'm trying to build my first car to geta small SL business started. i'm having a bit o' trouble building

Physically, your car can look like anything you want.  The only limit is the number of prims (32) you can link to make the car itself.  You can even get around that by making some parts of the car into attachments, so that you wear them instead of sitting on them.  The real challenge is scripting.  Take a look at the Linden Vehicle Tutorial to get a feel for what's involved. Whether you are already an adept LSL scripter or not, I suggest that you use Google or your favorite search engine to find several vehicle scripts to study.  There are loads of free ones out there.  Pick one and start taking it apart to see how it ticks.  Experiment with changing variables to see how your car responds.
