Ok I'm confused.  You received a box but didn't know you needed to unpack it.  What did you do with the box?  If you received it, its in your inventory.  If you got mad and deleted it, its in your Trash folder.

It would help to know the sequence of events and perhaps we can figure out where your boxes might be.  Use the Options - Edit to add additional info to your post.

Hello Venillah and welcome to SL Forums. The stuff you purchase, arrives in your inventory as a box with contests and saved in the folder called "Objects" in your main inventory. You can't attach or wear the box immidiately. You must to open (unpack it). So you go at a region where you have the right to rezz. Public Sandboxes are recommended about. You can find several of them here. So choose a Sandbox --> View this destination --> View on map --> Visit this location --> You see a pop-up window --> Allow --> you see the place profile in your monitor in world on the right --> Teleport. When you arrive at the sandbox you drag the box on the ground --> right click on it --> Open --> Copy to inventory. A folder is created in your inventory (easier to find it looking at the 2nd tab of your inventory called "Recent"). Now you are ready to use (wear or add the stuff, clothes etc with right click on them in your inventory --> Wear or Add. You repeat the same process to open (unpack) all the boxes. When you finish it is good to delete them.

I don't understand what you mean when you say that you closed the chat. Your stuff normally is still into your Objects folder.

The box system is actually very handy.  Like a lot of things, however, you do have to learn how it works.  Many items that you buy come in multiple parts, or have a notecard with instructions, a landmark to the inworld store, or an invitation to join the merchant's group.  If those pieces were all delivered separately, they would be very easy to lose, so receiving them all in a neat box saves a lot of trouble for everyone.  Many merchants either include an unpacking script that dumps the box's contents to a named folder in your inventory, or they simply set the controls on the box so that it opens when you left-click it.  If the second option is there, you just click the "Copy Contents to Inventory" button and -- voila!  -- it's unpacked.

Really the only tricky parts of the process are (1) You need to be in a place where you are allowed to rez and open the box and (2) You need to do regular inventory maintenance so that you know where you put things.  These "rules" are nothing new.  You follow them all the time in RL.  You have to take your purchases home to unwrap them, and you are responsible for putting them in your own closet and picking up after yourself.   Follow the other guuidelines in the Knowledge Base article that others recommended in their responses and you'll be fine.  Welcome to Second Life.  :smileywink:
