You can learn how to BUILD (edited for typo! :smileyvery-happy:) a house taking inworld building classes. Here are some links from the Destination Guide:

https://secondlife.com/destinations/howto/creator

And you can buy an already-made house either exploring inworld stores or browsing the marketplace:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?search[category_id]=8

Use the marketplace as a shopping list. I wouldn't recommend to buy a house before seeing it inworld. Get in SL to visit, spend time to find a home you really like. Also always remember to check the prim count and the footprint, otherwise you could end up with a house too big for your land. :smileyhappy: If you choose an unfurnished home, be aware that you will have to decorate it, keep the furnitures' prim count in mind too.

Also bear in mind that you need to buy or rent land to put the house on, once it is built (or as a place to build it, though you could do the building in a sandbox area.)

The land you put the house on needs to be big enough to contain the physical shape of the building, and also needs to be big enough to support the number of prims the house requires, and some left over for furnature and other things.
