And seeing it total from the economic point of view, spending money in SL is also stupid itself. :matte-motes-dont-cry:

I make a distinction between spending money IN SL, and spending money ON SL.

I haven't spent a cent ON SL (besides for electricity to run the computer) but have spent thousands of $L IN SL. Where did those $L come from, then? Some were given to me. Some I got for filling out surveys (and I tend to fill out surveys whether I get paid for doing so or not). Some I got for merely hanging out in clubs. Some I got from winning contests, like "best in blue" or "best in leather," etc.

I haven't kept track but I'm sure that I've received far more in gifts & prizes than I've actually gotten as $L. My sisters have been very generous about giving me stuff. It hasn't been all that uncommon to run into someone who just gives me stuff, like the guy yesterday who gave me clothes. There's midnite mania & lucky chairs. There's hunts & camping, altho I don't bother with these. There's entire huge stores fulluv freebie stuff, & freebie stuff available from the browser marketplace.

All this being true, I see absolutely no point in spending money ON SL. To those who say that you can only get nice stuff by buying it, I say: This isn't true, because I have plenty of nice stuff I didn't buy, but even if it was true, it's all just pixels - there's no difference between "cheap freebie" stuff and "expensive paid for" stuff, besides how it may look. So what how it looks? How stuff looks is more a function of your graphics card than it is about the code behind something. What I don't like is this appeal to vanity. Vanity is an ape thing, I know, and we're apes & all, but I just don't care for the snobbishness of the fashionista scene. Even my sister will say something like, "I gave you that nice top & you wear it with those freebie jeans you got back in August. You're not a noobie anymore"!! & I'm like, "Yeah, whatever.." LoL To tell the truth, I miss being a noobie. As a brand noobie everything in SL was wonderful & amazing & fantastic. Now, it's more like... lag.

And furthermore, I'm constantly hearing ppl fret over making tier: "Tips are down & LL has raised tier on non-profits!!! What am I going to DO... ?!?!" Well, what I'd do is just not pay tier. In fact, I don't pay tier. Would my SL experience be improved if I did pay tier? NO!! it would be diminished, cuz then I'd be the one doing the fretting. As it is, I'm free from financial worries in SL, unlike in RL. Free to just have fun!

As for prostitution in SL, it only makes sense if you enjoy the role-play. It does not make sense from an economic standpoint. But this is true of any & all activities in SL engaged in for the sake of making $L. So if being a whore appeals to you, and you can't be one in RL & make RL $$$ doing it, then by all means: Have fun doing your thing in SL. But don't fool yourself or try to fool anyone else by pretending that its a lucrative activity.

You don't need land & you don't need to pay tier either. If you can't find someone to share their space with you, you can just be a SL Gypsy & rezz wherever you last logged out from & go on from there. In my opinion, it's stupid to ruin SL fun by worrying about earning $L inworld, and even stupider to spend hard earned RL money on SL when you can have it for free.

Of course if people didn't own land and didn't pay tier, there wouldn't be very many places to go, would there?

Kama could do interviews about all different groups in SL.

I have a lot of interviews on various topics .. with the creators, the artists, the artists .. I headgroup "Russian People", and write stories about our trips .. They are all in Russian.

Maybe I'll translate some of those successful for the official site to other topics.

Why I published this topic on the official site.? The reason is simple. I interviewed the girlsfrom around the world .. and this is Russia, Britain, Australia, USA and Europe. They were waiting for an interview.

ON
SL.

To pay or not pay in Sl everyone decides for himself.

For me, Second Life - it's fun. It's shopping, it travels in 3-D world, it's socializing with friends. I do not mind the money to have fun.

In RL, we spend hundreds of dollars for the pleasure and do not regret it.

Dear Kama,

While I thoroughly enjoyed your interviews I can't help but think this does not give an accurate description of all aspects of SL escorting.

My agency caters to customers with special needs looking for high quality escorts, I think you will hear a quite different story if you hear how they experience the finer details of SL escorting.

kind regards,

Jeremiah Whitfield
