Maybe a scale issue.

When you rez, make sure you're in Edit first and check the dimensions of the rezzed mesh - I found for whatever reason that some mesh objects I'd made using the dae 1.4 exporter in Blender 2.49 cam in scaled down by 100. It looked as if there was nothing there before I used edit and scaled them up.

Thanks for the help, when I uploaded an earlier version of what I was working on it worked, but spent alot of time trying to make the texture apply to it. So I do not think it is skinning.

I am a noob modeller and don't know anything about normals other than that it can make one side invisible and the other side show, like a plane.... Not really sure how to work with that.

Ill check if I can see it from the inside

Edit:

I logged in and it was fine... maybe it just didnt load when I uploaded it yesterday. Now the only problem I have is its a really ugly helmet!

I'm glad you got it working again.

I also just remembered - I think there's a bug or something with mesh that turns them invisible sometimes. I remember reading something about it, and have had mesh turn invisible myself. The solution, as far as I remember, is to get into edit mode and click where the mesh is supposed to be. At least for static, rezzed mesh objects. Rigged, worn mesh can not easily be selected, so this might not work on those. I have found, though, that you can rightclick a worn prim and select edit, and *then* click the rigged mesh - or where the rigged mesh is supposed to be. Have no idea if it works...
