You can try disabling VBO or HTTP Textures to see if that helps.  You'll find both of those in Preferences >> Graphics >> Hardware Settings.    If you decide to use a TPV, that may solve your problem too.  And yes, you can run two copies of Firestorm at once, assuming that your computer can handle the load. You'll want to open Preferences >> Advanced and check the box for Allow Multiple Viewers.
