Using Firestorm right now and I don't have any issue with search or edit. You may do a clean reinstall of the latest version of the viewer. Your current viewer is probably corrupted. Make sure you manually the clear the caches of all other viewers you may have on your computer. The two links below come from the Phoenix team and apply also to Firestorm.
