I'll assume that you're a premium member, and that you are talking about a mainland parcel that you own.

If you own 512 sqm or less, you should not be be billed for any tier, as premium accounts are granted a 512 sqm bonus lease before land use fees are applied.

If you own up to 512 sqm in addition to the initial 512 square meters covered by your premium account (up to 1024 sqm), you should be billed US $5 (see Land Use Fees).

Land use fees are first deducted from any US Dollar balance you have available on your account (see https://secondlife.com/my/account/), with the balance paid from your set payment method (PayPal account or credit card - see https://secondlife.com/my/account/billing.php). If you have $0 available on your account, your set payment method will be billed for the full balance.

If you owe a balance for more than seven continuous days, your primary and alt accounts will be placed in delinquency status. This status will enable you to access secondlife.com to clear the balance, but you will not be able to access your inworld accounts while delinquent. See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Delinquency_Policy.

Payment is taken from the USD balance that you have available and/or from your set payment method automatically on your tier due date.

To check your available USD balance, see https://secondlife.com/my/account/ . To check your set payment method, see https://secondlife.com/my/account/billing.php .

You can also sell L$s on the LindeX to meet your tier. Proceeds of LindeX sales will show as available USDs until land use fees are paid (or until they are withdrawn).
